A SIZZLIN’ SHOWDOWN Summer is in full swing and we’re halfway through 2021! This summer season looks much different than last year, businesses are open, restrictions are lifted, and life is getting back to normal more and more each day. Even with all of the distractions of summer, home sales are climbing, and the real estate market is continuing to see unprecedented growth. Just like the temperature outside, the real estate market is hot, hot, hot! Driven by a lack of supply of homes for sale, low mortgage interest rates, and intense buyer demand, home prices have hit record highs in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties. According to OneKey MLS, in a June over June comparison, the median residential home sale price was up 16.2% in Nassau and 18.9% in Suffolk. The frenzy of buyers that was prevalent as we came out of the Covid-19 lockdown last year has started to slow down, but competition for homes is still fierce, especially at the entry-level price points. We’re still seeing multiple offers and bidding wars on the vast majority of homes. At the end of June, there was a 2.3-month supply of housing inventory in Nassau County and a 1.9-month supply in Suffolk County. Many economists are predicting more homes will be coming to market across the country towards the end of this year and we are slowly starting to see the signs of that here on Long Island. This would be a welcomed relief to buyers that have been shut out of the market during one of the most active sales periods in recent history. There’s no doubt it’s a competitive market that’s heavily skewed in favor of sellers, but well prepared and strategic buyers are winning contracts despite the rising prices and low inventory. An influx of sellers would alleviate some of this competitive pressure that buyers are facing, but buyers must still be prepared to make strong offers to win out in a multiple-bid scenario. Surfer’s Way Outing EMPOWERING CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
TUESDAY, AUGUST 17 RIVERSIDE BEACH, LONG BEACH
Surfing has been known to touch children with special needs and create a personal sense of accomplishment. Through Surfer’s Way, every child can have the chance to experience the freedom of surfing, regardless of their challenges. In order to ensure the safety of this event, it will operate at a reduced capacity. As such, we please ask that you only register your child for ONE of the two dates so we can give as many children the opportunity to participate as possible. Children surf for about 20 minutes in appointments from 9am - 1pm. To register your child, please email SurfersWay@gmail.com and include: -Child’s name AND age -Parent / Guardian name and contact # -Outing Date preferred. You will receive email confirmation when your child is registered.
