A MESSAGE FROM THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR

Greetings, Sorors!

I hope you’ve had some time to relax and make memories with friends, family and sorors this summer. Many of us enjoyed a great time of learning and fellowship at the Leadership Seminar in Chicago together and then took a brief hiatus from sorority events.

Now, it’s time to get back to work!

By now, most of you have attended our chapter’s strategic planning meeting and I’m sure you’re excited about the service projects and sisterhood activities planned for the months ahead. I hope you are equally excited about your upcoming Cluster Meeting. This is an ideal opportunity to come together with sorors in your area in a smaller, more intimate setting to network, share ideas and get further insight on how to implement our international programs and our region’s signature initiatives with fidelity.

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to all of you for an outstanding first year for the T.U.N.E. administration. As I mentioned in the State of the Region address at the 70th South Atlantic Regional Conference, we are exceeding expectations and leading the way for other regions throughout our sisterhood. It’s time now to continue what we’ve started. I’m looking forward to another year of significant service and sisterhood as we SOAR to greater heights together.

In Service and Sisterhood,

DiamondSororshinesbrightlyonthetrack

Diamond Soror Clara Satterfield of Upsilon Omega Omega Chapter in Irmo, S.C., was invited to carry the state banner at the National Senior Games for the Celebration of Athletes at the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Stadium in July.

Soror Satterfield, 96, also participated in the 50-meter dash, the 100-meter dash and a relay. She received gold medals because she was the only person in her age group and she finished the races. “I beat the 90-yearolds in the heats, so I am happy,” she said in a letter to South Atlantic Regional Director Soror Tiffany Moore Russell.

Sorors cheered her on in person and on social media.

“The outfit I wore was gifted to me by my chapter, Upsilon Omega Omega,” she wrote. “They have really been supportive.”

Last year, Soror Satterfield and her daughter, Evelyn Wilson, competed together at the 2022 National Senior Games in Fort Lauderdale, where Soror Satterfield earned gold and noted that powerwalking had lowered her blood pressure. The two powerwalked together again this year in Pittsburgh.

“Thank you for the publicity and the well wishes I received,” Soror Satterfield wrote. “I sincerely hope I inspire my sorors to keep moving and to take care of themselves so they can care for others.”
