LEISURE

SUPPORT & SUPERVISION

Leisure activities are the key to enjoy your stay, understand the culture and moreover to practice the language. Junior and 50+ programmes include a set of cultural activities which are generally prepared during the classes, while Adult programmes offer it as an option. Some programmes put a special focus on sports and adventure (Summer Adventure Camps in St Cyran and Boghossian Football Camp), or on a special topic like culture or gastronomy (French + Cooking or Civilization in Montpellier, Comics in Angoulême…). Weekly excursions are key options to discover the area and are offered on most programmes (included or to be booked at the school).

We take into consideration the cultural gap you might be confronted by while being in another country with different references. Therefore SILC has put a great focus on the assistance and support to be given to the students. At school, you’ll benefit from the assessment of the co-ordinator of studies and can count on the availability of a SILC representative, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Juniors benefit from the extra attention they need with a friendly team of qualified and experienced monitors, who facilitate their integration and take care of them in case they feel homesick.

he French Educational System is well known around the world for its high academic standards. In a French lycée, all general subjects are taught but emphasis is placed either on Sciences and Maths, Literature & Languages or Economics and Sociology according to the Major chosen. The system is challenging and on average a student will sit in lessons for 32 hours per week and will be required to provide a fair amount of homework. At the end of the «Première», students take the first part of the Baccalauréat (French or Sciences according to the field of studies) and in «Terminale», the final year, they will take the full exam. After the Baccalauréat, gateway to the Higher Education System, students can choose from 2 major study channels: long-term studies at a university or short-term vocational studies at an IUT, business school or another higher education school.

IMMERSION

INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE SCHOOL

UNIVERSITY programmes are the perfect stay for students who wish to match academic studies with the discovery of the Parisian life as tuition focuses on language and civilization and students get to interact with French fellows. It is the path to enter a French university or a Higher Education Institution and prepare a degree : University Academic Programme @ la Sorbonne

IMMERSION programmes offer a very genuine way to learn about French culture by living with a carefully selected French family. In Full Immersion, there are no formal language lessons but students use their language skills to communicate on a daily basis with their host families. One-to-one guarantees that one of the family members at least is a French teacher. In all cases, homes are safe, clean and located near to public transportation. All of our host families are carefully vetted and their homes visited regularly.

INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE SCHOOLS offer the flexibility one needs to fit a course in a busy schedule. Courses are organised all year round for a minimum length of one week and the wide choice of courses is designed for students and adults who aim to improve their French for personal, academic or professional purposes. Tuition is organised in small international groups to stimulate the interaction and communication with other students : Paris, Montpellier (and Tours, upon request).
