From Langanes Parish On Boxing day, December 26th, a divine service will be held in Þórshöfn church at 14:00. The church choir leads the singing, organist is Eyþór Ingi Jónsson. Þórshöfn Elementary School is looking for teachers to work at the school in the coming school-year. We are looking for enthusiastic teachers who are creative in their work. We are looking for people with manifold experiences and background who are all interested in diverse teaching methods and school development. On offer are varied subjects, where teacher’s talents and initiative can come into their own. We need special education teachers, supervising teachers, math teachers, teachers in arts and crafts and sports teachers. We are looking for a special education teacher who is interested in shaping the professional foundation of special education at the school which is grounded in the ideology of the individualized education and the active involvement of all in education. During the last few years, the employees at Þórshöfn Elementary School have been actively involved in research and development which focuses on diverse teaching methods, teamwork, and in increased democratic student involvement in education. Þórshöfn Elementary School has around 80 students, and each class is manageable in size. The school’s operation is characterized as dynamic and progressive in its education. The school offers music education and there is a tradition for intensive sports activities for all ages. Langanesbyggð is a strong and growing municipality with exciting opportunities for the future. In Þórshöfn, about 400 people live in a family-friendly environment. Good housing is available and Þórshöfn offers a variety of public services.
