Norðurhjari’s Annual General Meeting The Annual General Meeting of Norðurhjari, a tourist service organization, that was postponed at the end of November due to bad weather, will be held in Dettifoss Guest House in Lundur, Öxarfjörður, Thursday, January 10th at 20:00. In addition to conventional General Meeting business, the changes that a new Dettifoss road will bring will be specifically discussed. Óli Halldórsson, chairman of the regional council of the Northern area of Vatnajökull National Park will discuss opportunities in the National Park and changes following the completion of the Dettifoss road. Björn H. Reynisson, project manager of the Marketing Centre of Northern Iceland discusses projects he is working on and are related to the Diamond Circle. The meeting is open to anyone interested. All are welcome to attend.
From the Touring Association The Touring Association, Norðurslóð, wishes readers a Happy New Year, and looks forward to your company on this year’s hikes, while encouraging everyone to enjoy refreshing outdoor activities during the new year. The Touring Association’s first hike this year will be on Saturday, January 12th. We will hike down along Laxá in Þistilfjörður to Tumavík, and from there up along Hölkná (an 8km. hike). Let’s celebrate the rising sun on a refreshing hike. Check-in is at Laxá at 11:00.
Knitting night A knitting night will be held at Fræðasetur um forystufé, The Study Centre on Leadership Sheep, on Tuesday, January 8th at 19:30. Everyone is welcome, whether they are knitting or not. Hot coffee will be offered. It has been decided to hold four knitting nights until spring; Tuesday, January 8th at 19:30, Tuesday, February 5th at 19:30, Tuesday, March 11th, at 19:30, and Tuesday, April 2nd, at 19:30. Knitting yarn will be on sale each night, at 10-50% off!
