Zeya Val enjoys making custom animations for her Machinimas. Today I’m chatting with her about which Sims game is her favourite and what she likes to do outside of gaming. It is a pleasure for me to give her February’s Animator of the Month.

Steph: Hey Zeya! Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me. Let’s get right to it! How long have you been playing The Sims and is there anything in particular that got you started?

ZV: I played the original sims when I was young but then I stopped. And then I got back to Sims 4 when my boyfriend built me a new computer that makes gaming way better.

Steph: Thank goodness you have a PC that can handle the game. Otherwise you’d never be able to play with a bunch of packs at once. Which Sims game is your favourite and why?

ZV: The Sims 4 is the best because it has the best graphics compared to the others.

Steph: The Sims 4 is definitely the best in terms of graphics in the series. What happens when you burn out with The Sims? Do you have a go-to game? Is there something else you do?

ZV: I don’t play other games. I mostly go on social media. My current fave is tiktok.

Steph: Wow that’s the first time we’ve gotten that answer! It’s cool to know you have other things to do when you’re bored though. What inspired you to start making animations and how long have you been doing it?

ZV: I started making machinima videos first and then I was looking at other peoples machinima videos with custom animations. I

got interested in making custom animations in order to express my own creativity. I’ve been doing it for a year now.

Steph: So you’ve been doing it for a while and I hope you continue for a long time! When making your animations, what’s the biggest challenge you come across?

ZV: The learning curve is the biggest challenge.

Steph: I agree with that, it’s always difficult at first until you get the hang of it. Is there a certain part of making the animations that you enjoy the most?

ZV: I enjoy the finished product. The filming is the best part with all the cc I chose for my characters.

Steph: Oh my goodness, don’t start talking about CC. My mods folder is full of custom content to the point where I get lost finding things. What’s the best tip you can give to someone thinking about making animations themselves?

ZV: Practice makes perfect.

Steph: Nice and simple. That’s the best tip for anything. Aside from the animations and Machinimas, do you create anything else in The Sims?

ZV: Nope, just the animations.

Steph: That’s good too! So, when it comes to The Sims, are you a builder, storyteller or CAS player at heart, or maybe a combination?

ZV: CAS player for sure. I like creating sims.

Steph: Making the sims takes me hours when I get into it, so I know what you mean. What projects are you working on at the moment?

ZV: A male model walk and a giving birth animation.

Steph: And is there anything else about you that you would like us to know that I didn’t ask?

ZV: No I believe everything’s been covered.
