No Waste Design from México & Munich
SIMÓN ESE, translated from Mexican street slang, means “Alright dude!” It is with this down-to-earth attitude that we approach fashion, relationships, and life. Our goal is to create casual and multicultural street-style fashion based on artistic design and sustainable production. Our motivation is to develop positive, meaningful relationships with all those involved in the design, production, distribution and use of our clothing.
The Spring/Summer 2014 collection is inspired by the scenery of endless and vast landscapes in a time and space beyond human culture. A palette of whites, with distant red, golden, and light blue brushstrokes, capture meditative and liberating moments alone in the Mexican desert. The collection represents a calming of human nature and a clearing of the mind from all active thoughts and feelings. It is reminiscent of this point in which an unexpected inner freedom and happiness arise and take over entire existence.
This process of mental restructuring is represented by asymmetrical cuts and through the layerings of different fabrics. Lightweight, openstitch knit designs and oversize top-vests express comfort and freedom of mind. Unique graphic prints and batik techniques give an outlook into an ulterior world. Straight cuts and clear basic color lines stand for confidence and subtle coolness. Accents and accessories hand-made with leather, along with fantasy jewelry, underline SIMON ESE’s love for details and its Mexican origin.
FAIR PRODUCTION Fair trade begins with responsible manufacturing. For the people behind the production of our clothing, we give them a means to share their voices, and in doing so, make them visible to the rest of the world. Throughout all processes, we assure that they work under fair conditions.
SUSTAINABILITY Our pieces are made with a high percentage of cotton and bamboo viscose, which represents SIMON ESE‘s commitment to high quality fabrics and resources. The majority of our clothing is made from material stock which has been leftover by the Mexican fashion industry. This is what we call NO WASTE DESIGN.
SUPPORT We want to give something back to beautiful Mexico. To do this, we started our Artist Shirt Project, where talented German and Mexican artists create compelling shirt designs. Proceeds from the sales of these shirts go towards supporting social art projects facilitated by the Mexican artist René Hayashi. Current artists include Nadia Cortellesi and Acapulco from Munich.
