The 2020 Holiday Edit is dedicated to showcasing incredible small women-owned businesses, their empowering stories and the companies and products they have created. I am a proud Latina woman-owned business and I wouldn't be anywhere close to where I am today without a community of inspiring women. I hope you shop small this holiday season and support your local businesses, women-owned businesses, people of color businesses, and invest your time and money into establishments that care about their community, give back to others and are working towards a better tomorrow. We need businesses like this. In the following pages you be able to read about some of my favorite small businesses and shop a curated gift guide for this holiday season. Thank you for reading the Simply Audree Kate Holiday Edit and I hope this issue brings you joy, inspiration and cheer this season. THE HOLIDAY EDIT 2020

EDITOR'S LETTER 2020 has been one of the worst, but most needed years in my life. In January, I had a jampacked colorful vision board in one hand, a robust goal list in the other, and I was in my strongest mental state in my life. I was genuinely happy, excited my business was growing by the day, my team was expanding, and I finally felt a small sense of balance in my work/personal life. And then March hit. 2020 shook us to our core. COVID-19 affected my friends and family, ruined by businesses and took so many innocent lives. And it's still not over. The murder of George Floyd sparked needed change in our communities and transparent discussions within companies, and this presidential election ignited a new wave of voters, political education and change. Although I could say 2020 collectively sucked, It also forced me to take a step back from the 'New York City hustle' and rediscover who I was a person, not just as the business owner, the fashion stylist or Simply Audree Kate the influencer, but who I was as Audree Katherine López—a woman, a citizen and a changemaker. This year I had to close my styling studio due to COVID-19, let go of my two employees, transition and the pivot-the-hell out of my company, and unwillingly embrace the unknown. I dealt with some personal health, financial and family issues, and for the first time in almost a decade, I truly took a break from work. And in the midst of the chaos, weekly breakdowns, tears and forced morning affirmations, I really re-discovered who I was, and for the first time in my life, I fell in love with a wonderful partner. He has helped me so much this year to focus on the small happy moments, tiny breakthroughs, one routine and to keep moving forward. I have learned that I can't change the bad from this year, but it has taught me to let go a little, pause the 2020 goal list and be more kind, gentle and forgiving to myself and others. It has taught me to focus on the small happy moments each day, because we don't know what tomorrow will bring, and that you, your mental health and your loved ones are the most important things right now. Discover what makes you happy, who supports and loves you even on the days you feel your worst, and change your focus from big picture to right now. Here is to the hardships, lessons and discoveries we had in 2020, and to Little Bits of Better each and every day going forward.

In 2016, a year after Audree Lopez moved to New York City to pursue her career at one of the largest magazine publishing corporations, she started receiving messages from students around the country asking for career advice. She told her story on her blog SimplyAudreeKate.com, Skyped into student organization meetings across the country to tell her career story and held countless phone calls with aspiring fashion students. A few years before, Audree co-founded a fashion student organization at her alma mater, Arizona State University (@asubof) and worked with the business and art colleges to create their now fashion merchandising program for her senior honors thesis. She quickly realized she was one of many students across the country who didn’t have the industry network, geographical advantage or formal fashion education to help aid her in breaking into the fashion industry. In 2017 Audree hosted career workshops at universities around the country, published her e-book, Fashion Fundamentals: Internships, Networking and Social Media in 2018 and a year later, launched the digital course and community, Fashion Fundamentals. Earlier this year, Audree and her team redesigned Fashion Fundamentals to be an evergreen program with 10 digital lessons, 30+ industry interviews and live mentorship sessions. During this redesign, Audree created the Fashion Fundamentals Foundation, College Ambassador Program and the Fashion Fundamentals Community Blog. The goal of these programs are to provide the opportunity for students around the world to be part of a strong-knit community

We Are Women Owned, the go-to platform to discover, shop, and support women-owned businesses, is hosting a Virtual Holiday Pop-up Shop featuring 100 female-identifying makers, doers, and curators from Monday, November 9th - Thursday, December 31, 2020. 2020 has been a challenging year for all of us, but it has been especially tough for women small business owners. Between January and July, the percentage of women business owners who ranked their business’s overall health as “good” fell from 60% to 47%. Even worse? Early estimates indicate that up to 25% of women-owned businesses have already shuttered for good. In short: this winter holiday shopping season has the potential to make or break many womenowned small businesses. We put together this holiday pop-up event to help shoppers skip the big-box corporations and spend their money where it will have the most impact: directly with women-owned small businesses. Even better? They can do it without ever leaving the couch. Shoppers can expect a wide range of products and price points, plus exclusive offers available only through the We Are Women Owned Virtual Holiday Pop-up. We Are Women Owned is also proud to partner with IFundWomen to donate 10% of our profits from this year’s holiday pop-up event to IFW’s Pay-It-Forward Grant. ‘Tis the season to surprise the people you love with the perfect gifts, support womenowned small businesses, and help us pay it forward.

This idea was born out of necessity for women to have a voice in the male-dominated sneaker community. When we hear the word streetwear culture, it is automatically associated with men. But what about the women whose identity is built on wearing sneakers? I wanted to build an authentic community of women looking to share their enthusiasm for sneakers, fashion, and beauty. A community that wants to change the world through sustainable practices. So here we are. Walk Like Her is not only what I owe myself, but what I owe all the other women who have ever felt like their unique voice hasn’t been heard.

Sock Candy is a statement fashion-sock line by influencer Mary Gui. The brand was born from Mary's love for wearing socks and sandals. She often found herself struggling to find the perfect pair of socks to go with her heeled sandals and chunky mules. All the current sock brands were either too cheesy or too minimalist, and none we created specifically for the fashion girl to pair with shoes. Thus, Sock Candy was designed for statement socks to take center stage in an outfit and be the eye candy. The collection features one-of-a-kind whimsical prints, bold colors, and quirky combinations. Sock Candy believes in the engine inside us that drives us to be unconventional and different - and that inner spirit is core to the brand.

"Hi there! My name is Chelsea and I'm the creator behind Chelsea as of Late. Shop as of Late was born after months of feeling uninspired by what I was seeing in the fast fashion + high street scene - it felt like the same few pieces were repurposed and sold in every shop I browsed. That, coupled with taking a long hard look at how detrimental my consumption habits had been for the last few years, led me to pledge to thrift more consistently in efforts to slow down my fashion consumption. While sharing this journey with my community online, I'd always get so many messages from girls that would express how they either didn't have the patience for thrifting, or could never find those gems whenever they did, which got me thinking....why isn't thrifting accessible to all? And thus Shop as of Late was born. I truly believe that life's too short for boring clothes and that we should all build our closets creatively. That's what inspires me to hunt for those one-of-a-kind pieces to share with my community via Shop as of Late. If you're looking for fun, unique pieces to give a second home to, look no further!"

"Mila & Me is a small, Latina-owned, hand-dyed, loungewear brand with matching mommy & baby options. The idea for our brand was conceived during COVID-19 to brighten your day and bring you comfort and peace. At the beginning of the pandemic, we were able to help feed elderly New Yorkers through City Meals of NYC by donating 10% of our profits."
"My 11-month-old daughter, Mila, was the inspiration behind starting Mila & Me. When she was 6weeks old, she had to undergo surgery for an abnormal mass that had been growing in her abdomen since she was in utero. She was incredibly strong and resilient. As a new mother, struggling with a healing newborn, the global pandemic was an instant reminder that we, as a nation and a community, would need that same determination and strength. I channeled my energy into creating custom tie dye pieces for family and friends, which turned into my creative outlet. My focus amplified when I knew it was a way for us to help and to bring happiness and comfort to people with my pieces. One of my goals at the beginning of the pandemic was to find a way to contribute towards the fight against COVID-19. My dad is a doctor in Austin and learning from him from a medical perspective about the virus, drove me further to find a way to contribute. During the first couple months of the pandemic, we were able to donate 10% of our profits to City Meals of New York to help feed hundreds of struggling elderly people of New York City. Mila & Me's mission is to create unique loungewear that brings you comfort, color and joy. Each piece is hand dyed with love, bringing you effortless style. As we learn how to navigate our new normal, we will continue to partner with brands and businesses that share our values and desire to strengthen our communities."

We believe that personal style is one of the most precious forms of selfexpression. We strive to make our customers feel confident, and headstrong when they wear Undone. Undone by Kate was started as a quarantine dream and turned into reality! During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kate took her love for vintage fashion and began sewing one of a kind pieces in her bedroom using strictly vintage materials. It all started with two Guns N Roses band tees. Kate’s lightbulb moment was when she realized the two tee shirts together would be so much better as ONE! Her boyfriend's mother gifted her a sewing machine and she taught herself from there. Since then, the brand’s signature style is color-blocking pieces. Each collection is completely unique and different from the last. Collections feature flannels, band tees, blazers, tie-dye sweat sets, leather jackets, and so much more to come. Kate personally designs, creates, and ships every single Undone item to ensure the best quality possible. Every Undone piece is truly one of a kind and created to accentuate your personal style."
During Undone by Kate's first launch, they donated 15% of every purchase to the NYC Health + Hospitals fund which helped to provide PPE, medical equipment, and meals for the front line workers. For their fifth launch, they donated 15% of profits to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

Upon graduating in 2012, she opened her first brick and mortar pop up shop at the iconic Bryant Park market in Manhattan that holiday season and never looked back. THELIFESTYLEDCO also has two brick + mortar shop locations in Arizona in Gilbert and the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix.
After 10 years in career fields from finance to hospitality and a stint in Los Angeles fashion school, Kristen's childhood passion for all things color and design was reignited. THELIFESTYLEDCO originally started as a blog, called "THE LifeStyled COMPANY," where Kristen intended to document and share the purchase and renovation of her and her husband's first home, DIY projects and designing on a budget. Kristen would get regular inquiries from friends, family and strangers asking if she could style their home, so in an effort to see if she could really make a career out of her passion, she decided to host a contest on Facebook where she would give away free styling sessions. She picked three winners, got each project professionally photographed, got great feedback and continued to write. It was about six months from the very first blog post and the time that Kristen quit her corporate job to jump into "THE LifeStyled COMPANY" full time. Over the last 8 years, Kristen went from a DIY Blogger, to the driving force and Executive behind a multi million dollar design company of over 35 team members, serving clients and customers, nationwide between design projects and retail stores. While Kristen’s passion is and always will be Interior Design, teaching some of what she’s learned along the way has become an integral part of her company’s mission. Organic Desert Learning, her most recent venture, is a collection of digital and immersive courses where you'll learn all about the art of styling, straight from the source and in her own home! Organic Desert Learning was designed to be a more accessible and approachable place for design, with resources and coaching, to help you achieve your own version of Organic Desert Living. When Kristen is not creating, she spends her days with her husband, two small boho baby girls, black lab, and in a pre-covid world, traveling to one big (or little) destination at a time. THELIFESTYLEDCO has garnered attention in the media world from HGTV, Houzz, The Today Show, Modern Luxury Magazine and Luxe Magazine, just to name a few.

"The idea for ilystrations started when I began creating these digital drawings as a sort of "New Year hobby". I wanted to put my art skills to the test and mess around with a different approach compared to my typical pen and paper style. After getting the hang of drawing digitally, I began turning my favorite photos of my friends and I into little abstract masterpieces! I quickly realized how special these one of a kind portraits would be as gifts. A personalized doodle of your best friend, family, boyfriend, girlfriend, you name it!! It took me a while to identify my personal style in the digital art space, but this detailed yet minimalistic style excited me like no other. Starting ilystrations has given me the motivation to create constantly and experiment with art like I never have before! I dedicated the first few weeks of 2020 to my new passion project, creating sample portraits, starting up and instagram, and spreading the word that I was ready for business! I was blown away by the response I got from friends and even strangers. My calendar quickly filled up with commision after commision. The orders kept coming and I kept creating! Every portrait became my new favorite, only to be replaced by the next happy couple or family pet. I find so much joy in creating these illustrations for others and am filled with joy each time I see them reposted on a customer's page or framed in someone's home! Recently, ilystrations has expanded beyond instagram with a rapidly growing Etsy site. Here people can find my custom portrait listings along with several handmade stickers (my newest venture). I have so many exciting projects in the works that I can not wait to share and would love to have you come along on the journey!" ily :)

Intimates made in 12 shades of nude to match every skin tone. Durable enough for active performance & stylish enough for everyday fashion. "I truly have been fortunate to pursue my passions of performance arts and entertainment. As a teenager I trained with dance theater of Harlem and Alvin Ailey. As a college student, I majored in ballet and minored in business management at the prestigious Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. Finally as a young adult, I gained professional experience as a model, commercial actress, and Knicks City Dancer. Fifteen years of experience in the entertainment industry has afforded me an acute understanding of the needs and demands that performers face throughout their careers. Interestingly, one reoccurring challenge was the need for proper undergarments. Two qualities that entertainers look for when purchasing products are transparency and skin color match. Of the two, certain brands offer transparency, while color matching remains in high demand. In all stages of my dance career, I have experienced the hardships of not finding hosiery that matched my skin tone. We were required to wear nude undergarments as part of our uniform and therefore spent hours dying/spray painting tights and shoes as most hosiery brands did not produce the appropriate shade of nude. This too was a common complaint of the wardrobe departments of many castings and productions that I have been a part of. Sadly, the dying method was a luxury not often afforded to projects due to budget constraints and the laborious process. As a result, many women, of all races, were left feeling uncomfortable and unprepared to perform. This was the orgin of Nude Barre in 2009."

AMANDA MUNZ THE FASHION FOUNDATION @THEFASHIONFOUNDATION
WEBSITE
"I started The Fashion Foundation when I saw that the fashion industry had way too much leftover merchandise that no one knew what to do with. Now, we get designers to donate excess merchandise and samples, we sell them at a fraction of the retail price on our website to customers around the world, and we use the proceeds to provide school supplies to local children in need. Designers have donated over 50,000 pounds of brand new merchandise to support our mission which has helped us impact over 11,000 children in New York. Each year, because of fashion, we provide thousands of local children in need with new school supplies, art supplies, clean uniforms, holiday gifts and more! Our site is filled with clothes, shoes, accessories, jewelry and more! One of the best parts of shopping at The Fashion Foundation is you're getting a super cute designer item at a fraction of the price but also making a local child smile. We recently had a donation of 75 boxes of hair accessories and jewelry so our mystery boxes are the perfect gift to give someone you love or treat yourself!" Everything is donated from designers and proceeds from shopping benefit local children in need. The place to shop where prices are small and impact is big ... prices start at $5!

BECCA HERINGER THE COSMIC PROJECT @THECOSMICPROJECT
WEBSITE
Becca Heringer founded The Cosmic Project because she believes that art exists beyond a four-sided canvas. Art is meant to be lived in. The Cosmic Project is a lifestyle brand that brings a sense of boldness into your every moment and movement. After graduating from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor in Fine Arts, Becca decided she wanted her artwork not only hanging on a wall, but also to be worn and to decorate spaces. Her process begins simply: Start with an idea, then by hand, put concept to paper. She modifies the sketch this way or that depending on what product she's designing. The Cosmic Project will bring creativity into your interior and exterior world. Colorful products brought to life — made by Becca, for you! "Just remember; the world is your canvas" - Becca

"R+R started this year, but the idea has been sitting for a long time! As a spiritual creative, I've always been a lover of thrifting and making fashion work for a budget. R+R is multi-faceted and all the things that make me who I am. Each aspect of R+R is so fluid and intertwining with each other. I believe in compassion and empathy, treating people with kindness and the deep importance of community. In times like this, I felt a deep compulsion to try and bring some vulnerability, joy and grace through art, tarot and the self expression of fashion. I can't wait to share what I have in store! We're only just getting started. Be good. Be gentle."

LAUREN BLITZER-WRIGHT & JESS KING 1981 NYC
@1981NYC
WEBSITE
Both NYC-natives, Lauren and Jess have been friends since they attended high school on the Upper East Side. They stayed in touch over the years, but kids, marriages, life, jobs, etc. got in the way. They connected again during the pandemic when they had both escaped to Vermont with their families. Lauren was telling Jess about some t-shirts and totes she had made and Jess had been embroidering shirts and making bracelets on the side for gifts and friends here and there. They decided to join forces and become 1981.
