Summer presents more free time to try new things. A great way to start is with a comedy show or an open mic night. On June 3rd, there will be a comedy show hosted by Capital Laughs in D.C. But if open mics are more of your style, there will also be two opportunities to spectate or participate with Creative Suitland and DC Music Summit on June 26th and July 24th in the Suitland-Silver Spring area.

Maybe you rather be amazed than humored… there’s a perfect event for that too. Poe’s Magic Theatre at Lord Baltimore’s Hotel is hosting a comedy show by Lindsay Noel on June 9th in Baltimore. Finally, if you’re looking for one last way to get creative with friends, a paint and sipis happening in Arlington on July 26th.

As mentioned above, there will be ample opportunity to see live music this season! You may know of the big names, like Beyonce and Drake, but there are more options less heard of. If you enjoy pop music, Paramore, Dermot Kennedy, and Bebe Rexha will all be making stops in the DMV this summer. Switching gears, if your preference is to hear a multitude of artists at once, there will be a music festival in Falls Church, Virginia on June 10th from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.! Don’t miss the chance to enjoy some of your favorite music, and even discover some new artists.

Adult fun is great, but what about family time? June is jampacked with events for the whole family. There is to be an outdoor family movie night held in Silver Spring on June 3rd, and a family carnival day in the park on June 10th in Reston, Virginia. Also, on June 10th, a family fishing event will take place in Sterling, Virginia at Claude Moore Park. Whether you are a long time fishing family or looking to get your kids to begin a new hobby, this event you won’t want to miss. Additionally, fishing poles are provided on a “first come, first serve” basis.

There are even music-oriented events for the family. Jazzy Ash and the Leaping Lizards, a New Orleans jazz band made for kids, is having a live performance in Vienna, Virginia on June 25th. As well as, KidzBop will also hold a live performance at the Filene Center in Vienna too on July 30th! And last, but certainly not least, the Lion King will be in town July 25th at the Kennedy Center.

Overall, there are so many ways to have creative fun in the sun this summer. Try something new or maybe rediscover a past hobby. No matter what you and your family choose to get involved in, make sure to stay hydrated, apply sunscreen and have fun!
