03 VOLUNTEER SERVICE In January 2016, I participated in a humanitarian aid mission to Riobamba, Ecuador. For 8 days, we assisted local doctors and nurses render primary and dental care to indigenous populations. Five days after the passing of Hurricane María, I arrived at the University of Puerto Rico’s Medical Sciences Campus’ Trauma Hospital. There, my oficial capacity was of medical interpreter, but I got to do much more than that.

RESEARCH
For three years I worked as a research assistant, and eventually lab manager, for Dr. Zomary Flores-Cruz, the principal investigator at a microbiology and molecular genetics laboratory. There, I got to publish numerous poster boards and oral presentations. On July 2018, I presented a lecture on my research at the University of California San Diego Scripps Institute. During the summer of 2019, I started working as a microbiology technician for Dr. Liz Diaz-Vazquez, the principal investigator at an analytical chemistry and nanotechnology laboratory. There, I’m in the process of publishing various works.
