exploration of 'Habits of the Heart' Chapter 8 in that study.

With the inception of the 20s 30s ministry, two of the AODO groups consisting of about 20 members of that age bracket had crossed over to them. The 20s 30s now gather at the Navigators office for their regular meeting every 6 weeks. Military and TNT combined session

The rest of the AODO groups now meet in different homes. Some had completed this refresher course while others like the one that meets in my house are more than half way through the study faithfully plodding through the remaining chapters, one chapter at a time when we gather monthly. One such person, Teck How was so caught up with the intensity of the study that he led his church cell group on a four months

Another had seen his regular Sunday Bible Reading class of new believers expanded to 11 and is spilling over with others wanting to join in. Still another was prompted to do follow up with a new believer in a mixture of both English and Mandarin languages in a one to one scenario that stretched him in seeking to make it understandable and practical. We are excited to see older alumni like these ones rekindled afresh with a desire to help others grow in the faith. Our monthly study at Toh Yi Drive is on the first Saturday of every month from 4-6pm followed by a home cooked dinner and a time of fellowship for those who are available to

what I have learnt faithfully and systematically.’ ‘It was a good reminder for those us who have been trained this way. Key principles of Disciple Making & Multiplication were covered - he didn't leave out on the need for the Basics as well before we can even embark on DM and M. Good step-by-step practical guide on the "how-tos" of DM and M with actual examples were given.’

About a hundred key laborers from our different ministries including the alumni ministry attended a half day session conducted by Toh Kai Hua on 21 April at the Navigators office. His sharing with the alumni during last Oct Forum on Disciplemaking was so well received that we had him further expand his talk. In reality it was like a refresher course to many of us as we re-acquainted ourselves with the basics of disciplemaking and the many useful tools that helped us in this process. Below are some of the sentiments from the alumni who heard him ‘What I have heard is not new, yet it is very refreshing and challenging to hear someone who puts all these into practice sharing with us. Walk the talk, preach what you practise. Right now I have a live-in follower and I am very motivated to teach her

Key laborers from campus and alumni ministry ‘Toh Kai Hua is faithful to the original Nav vision in its most traditional form. Grounded in the fundamentals. Like he said, it is aim at producing the 'Navigators' laborers'. ALUMNI IN TRANSITION – CAREER CHANGE AND RETIREMENT A Navigator laborer seeks not just ‘to know Christ and to make Him known’ but he ‘helps others do the same’. The ministry of one-on-one with individuals is a time-consuming one and there are no short cuts but it produces a different kind of believer.

The two alumni who shared the sentiments after attending the training session are senior civil servants who are finishing their terms of government service soon. They are making plans to resume discipling in a more involved manner. One is picking up an overseas venture that will allow him to pursue his life-long dream to continue discipling in a particular missions field. For many years, together with his wife and church mates, he had been discipling these foreigners who are based here locally. Another is giving himself greater involvement with the same group of people whom he and his spouse have also been discipling for the past decade and helping them start their own church service in that tongue. We know of more, who are in such transition, whether facing retirement or a career change who make a move that allows them more flexibility to pursue their goal of serving the Lord more intentionally. ALUMNI IN ACTION I was the main speaker at the Bukit Panjang Gospel Chapel church camp in June this year. This was only the second time that I have committed himself to speak to a church camp. What drew me to it was because of the rapport struck with a Nav SP Alumnus Sze Hock Thong who exhibited a deep passion to introduce the concept of

disciplemaking in his own church. He himself was impressed by the Lord to focus on adults who missed out on being instructed on discipling.

Married to former SP team leader Lee Sun He recalled the privilege he had when he was a student at Poly and the training he received that he wanted to see the same happening in his church. He began to seek help and rope in those whom he can call on to help in this venture. In that process, I was called in and also asked to take on the church camp. The church leadership is seriously contemplating embarking on the IDC process ( Intentional Discipling Church ) as an entity and is in discussion with the Church Discipleship Ministry of the Navigators. God willing, we will see this happening by end of this year. NPC alumni Victor Tan and Nancy in celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this year invited several like-minded couples to listen to a talk on 'Marriage and The Empty Nest' by another couple from the NavFam ministry. The intention

was to challenge others to invest their lives afresh on the things of God especially during this phase of life when their children are less needy of their attention.

Victor and Nancy What a meaningful way to minister to the gang who consisted of NPC alumni and church friends. We had the joy of reconnecting with some of the NPCers and hear of what they are doing.

Session at Nav office TRIBUTE TO A MAN WHO LIVED OUT THE CALLING Our Nav staff Royston is tasked with engaging the NPCers to help them resume laboring in their sphere of influence. This was the follow through of a NPC alumni gathering in April last year. 7 of the NPCers met at Roger and Jenny Lee’s home reminiscing the past and

updating one another and sharing their ministries. It was at that meeting that former NPC ministry leader Dr Lau Waun Kei

Last April with Waun Kei remarked that they must not lose touch with one another at this stage of their lives. More than ever, they need to encourage and pray for one another with life’s challenges and disappointments. It wasn’t too long ago that they started their journey with the Lord together in their 20s and now they need one another to finish well. Some of you would have gotten news that on 18 June this year, our dear brother Waun Kei went to be with the Lord after suffering two heart attacks. It was in the 1960s, while studying as a medical student at KE Medical Hall that he met the Lord through the Navigator ministry led by a fellow student Seto Wing Hong. In the next few years he grew leaps and bounds in his walk with the Lord and love for the Word of God. He caught the same fire for evangelism, discipleship and disciplemaking as his spiritual mentors. In 1973, he was

appointed the ministry leader of a newly set up Navigator community ministry called NPC ( Navigator Professional Circle ) whose mission was to spread the Gospel in the business community in Singapore. His influence was not limited to the Navigators but the church as well. He was an active lay leader in St Andrew Cathedral. Many young men and women he trained became pastors, missionaries and fulltime workers and one of them was our Navigator staff Royston Koh.

how to finish well. And thank you for our love and investment in our lives”

NPCers in their 50s and 60s At the wake, many eulogies poured forth for the man who had loved and invested his life in the lives of many. Waun Kei had not only started well but he finished well. We celebrate the life of one of our own who had fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.

Another NPC alumni session at Roger’s place Royston shared “Up till last year, he told us that he is meeting some men in their 50s and getting them into the Word. They had just completed studying passages about the Great Commission, witnessing, disciplemaking and spiritual multiplication. He was planning to challenge the group to memorise scriptures! These mean are in their 50s and they are talking about serious commitment to Jesus and His mission. A special word of thanks to Waun Kei – you have modeled for me and for all of us
