Aluminium can be severely deformed without failure. This allows aluminium to be formed by rolling, extruding, drawing, machining and other mechanical processes. It can also be cast to a high tolerance. Alloying, cold working and heat-treating can all be utilised to tailor the properties of aluminium. Aluminium is relatively cheap, highly conductive, has adequate mechanical strength, low density and resists corrosion.

APPLICATION Due to its low density, good appearance, ease of fabrication, and durability, aluminium in widely used. Aluminium is corrosive resistance, non-pyrophoricity and has mechanical strength. The major uses for aluminium metals are in: • Transportation such as automobiles, aircraft, railway cars, marine vessels, bicycles, spacecraft). • Packaging such as cans and foil. Building and construction (windows, doors, siding, building wire, sheathing, roofing, etc.). Since steel is cheaper, aluminium is used when lightness, corrosion resistance, or engineering features are important. • Electricity-related uses include conductor alloys, motors and generators, transformers and capacitors. • Household items such as cooking utensils or furniture.

CANDLE HOLDER Aluminium foil was an interesting material to work with. It can be formed in room temperature; it had an increased strength when compressed or squashed. It was easy to bend and form it into different shapes. The material is also very light. Once formed, it broke or torn when it has taken apart. The foil also has a shiny property which is partially reflective and can take on different textures. I used folding, compression and twisting to create single parts that were compressed together to make a hanging structure that could hold the candle.
