Crafting Exceptional Experiences
Wendy Wills strives to exceed expectations and deliver excellence at First International Bank and Trust.
Fresh out of college, Wendy Wills had never considered working in the financial services industry. However, with double degrees in Studio Art and Communications, she was a perfect match for a marketing position at a bank that was presented to her early in her career. Now, 25 years later she has worked her way up through nearly every position in the financial services marketing sector to the role she serves in currently as Chief Experience Officer at First International Bank & Trust in Sioux Falls.
In her position, she works diligently to align her customers’ needs with financial products that can be used seamlessly and effectively in their everyday life. She enjoys working with all areas of the bank while directly overseeing multiple departments including Marketing, Digital Branch, Customer Care Center, and Debit/Credit Cards. Wendy shares, “As the Chief Experience Officer, I am often an audience advocate. Whether that audience is a segment of our customer base, a community or an employee group. I see my areas of influence as being someone who helps carefully craft the gap between what the bank is offering to how end users will receive it.”
Not a woman to settle for the status quo, Wendy strives to help craft experiences that allow customers to focus on what matters most in their lives. “We’re not a company that is satisfied being average – we want to be leaders, innovators, and impact-makers. Witnessing the great things we are able to do for our customers and our communities and being a part of a growing company that is driven to make a difference is what I love.”
For Wendy, having a positive attitude and always pushing herself to be better is not only how she approaches each day, but how she approaches serving others. This includes both internal and external relationships. She notes, “ The most finite aspect of our lives is time. As a business in the service industry, we are competing with other banks that offer similar things. The difference lies in how we deliver those services and the experiences
