STRUCTURAL AXONOMETRIC
The Structural system for Bevel Tower was intentionally chosen and designed to maximise the span of the floor plate and take advantage of the three entrance points on the ground floor. The Structual system is well suited to the sidecore layout that is site specific as it increases site views and floor plate efficiency. The structural system used is a traditional concrete based shear wall system with the side core as the main load distributer. The building, located on spring st facing no obstruction on the east, receives strong lateral forces, typically wind forces. This traditional reinforced shear system thus is designed to resist such in plane lateral forces. This system was also selected to ensure an open floor plan to increase its commercial leasing value and to create a clean façade system. To achieve this, keeping in mind the side core arrangement, the structural grid is based on 7x9 grid with a 1500mm module (13.5mx10.5m grid). The structural system comprises of two types of concrete coloumns, C1 (1500x1500mm) and C2 (700x700), post tensioned band beam BB1 (2400x600), Edge Beams EB1 (500x400) and EB2 (1200X400), shear concrete core walls that range from 600mm to 250mm with height, as the primary structural elements. Transfer Beams (TB1 and TB2) act as the secondary structural system that helps shift the lateral loads downwards. All concrete structural columns, like the core walls decrease in width by 300mm with increase in height, the loads are however following a consistent path to the foundation by distributing loads through beams. Bevel tower at level 3 and then at Level 35 receds back, to accommodate a consistent load tranfer through the cantilever, TB1 and TB2 are added and interconnected to the primary BB1 to transfer the dead loads to the foundation through C1 & C2, with the help of the edge beams EB1 &EB2 running along the perimeter. The jewel of the tower, crown, is seamlessly connected to the tower by its accentuated peak at the back. Structurally the crown is built up of a network of structural universal beams and Universal columns that are connected to the load bearing side core that transfer the load through primary beams BB1 and columns CC1.
