Sailing Arabia the Tour 2012 Returns Following a press release in December we announced our second collaboration with Oman Sail’s Sailing Arabia – the Tour (SATT) 2012. Starting from Manama, Bahrain and ending in Muscat, Oman, the route will traverse the Arabian Peninsula with Six Senses Zighy Bay as the first stop entering Oman. Touring through four nations and seven marinas Sailing Arabia the Tour sails over 1,408 kilometres in only 14 days, modeled after the internationally renowned Tour de France à la Voile, one of the world’s most famous offshore sailing events. In early 2011 Oman Sail established a regional alternative, Sailing Arabia – The Tour, the first international sailing regatta that joined together the nations of the Gulf to race competitively around the region. On 23 February, 2012 the fourth leg of 2012 Sailing Arabia (SATT) will finish in Zighy Marina. The fifth leg will depart on 25 February, 2012 from Musandam, Oman and to Musannah, Oman. A full day of in port activities for the media is organized on Friday, 24 February 2012, culminating with a family-style barbecue event on the beach. Media and invited guests have the opportunity to sail on board any of the 9 race boats with the crew for personal interviews and experiences.

Shua Shack: Family-style Bedouin Dining Every week our specialty Arabic culinary team roast a blend of local herbs and spices, dry-rubbing this shua-blend onto lamb shanks that are then wrapped in banana leaves and hessian-cloth to marinate for 24-hours. This lamb will be slowly roasted for four hours roasted in our traditional Omani-style subterranean “shua” oven. As the lamb roasts, guests enjoy a communal dining experience with low seating directly on the beach. Fresh salads with hot and cold mezzes are served family-style as light sounds of Arabian flutes and oud. For the main course, the lamb is revealed; lifted from the underground oven, carved and served over basmati rice. The evening finishes with Omani coffee and the waves at your feet. Offered each Monday, Shua Shack is priced at thirty-five Omani rial per person, plus 9 % tax and 8.4 % service charge.
