Beautiful Blankets for Snuggles and Cuddles Back by popular demand: another batch of cozy-warm and super-cute baby blankets knit in the durable, affordable, and easy-care 128 Superwash and 220 Superwash® collections from Cascade Yarns®. Carefully selected for every skill level and personal taste, this collection features stripes, Fair Isle, adorable intarsia animals, circular blankets, a mermaid’s tail, and so much more. So, pull out those knitting needles! You are sure to love whipping up these blankets as much as your little ones will love keeping warm with them. Why have a “washable wool” if it can’t go in the dryer? This is the question that Bob and Jean Dunbabin had when they brought 220 Superwash® to the market in 2004. Knitters loved Cascade’s Superwash and Cascade responded by offering more weights, including 220 Superwash® Aran and the chunky 128 Superwash. Of course, these yarns come in a wide range of colors. Now you can enjoy your knitting and your laundry.

Techniques Embroidery Stitches

Kitchener Stitch Cut a tail at least 4 times the length of the edge that will be grafted together and thread through a tapestry needle. Hold needles together with right sides showing, making sure each has the same number of live stitches, and work as follows:

1 1) Insert tapestry needle purlwise through first stitch on front needle. Pull yarn through, leaving stitch on needle.

Chain Stitch

Satin Stitch

Stem Stitch

2 2) Insert tapestry needle knitwise through first stitch on back needle. Pull yarn through, leaving stitch on needle.

3) Insert tapestry needle knitwise through first stitch on front needle, pull yarn through, and slip stitch off needle. Then, insert tapestry needle purlwise through next stitch on front needle and pull yarn through, leaving this stitch on needle. 4) Insert tapestry needle purlwise through first stitch on back needle, pull yarn through, and slip stitch off needle. Then, insert tapestry needle knitwise through next stitch on back needle and pull yarn through, leaving this stitch on needle.

Duplicate Stitch French Knot

Provisional Cast- On With scrap yarn and crochet hook, chain the number of stitches to cast on, plus a few extra. Cut a tail and pull the tail through the last chain stitch. With knitting needle and yarn, pick up and knit the stated number of stitches through the “purl bumps on the back of the chain. To remove scrap chain, when instructed, pull out the tail from the last crochet stitch. Gently and slowly pull on the tail to unravel the crochet stitches, carefully placing each released knit stitch on a needle.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all stitches on both front and back needles have been grafted. Fasten off and weave in end.

Checking Your Gauge Make a test swatch at least 4"/10cm square. If the number of stitches and rows does not correspond to the gauge given, you must change the needle size. An easy rule to follow is: To get fewer stitches to the inch/cm, use a larger needle; to get more stitches to the inch/cm, use a smaller needle. Continue to try different needle sizes until you get the same number of stitches and rows in the gauge.
