SCHÜLERHAUSHALT

In the project „SchülerHaushalt“ (student household) students have the chance to decide on how to utilize a predetermined budget. All students are asked to contribute suggestions and later vote on them. The chosen suggestions are then mapped out and implemented by the city council and school administration. YOUTH ADVISORY BOARDS

With youth advisory boards we link the interests of young people with the work of communities or organizations. Here, young people are integrated directly into the workflow. They are involved in the conception of task areas of their own advisory board, which can include advising, support, and co-designing of current or future projects, or the design of own projects. Within the „JAM! Youth Advisory Board“, which we started in 2014, young people between the ages of 14 and 26 got involved with the design of the „Jugendkommunikation von Aktion Mensch“ and furthermore were given the chance to bring their own perspectives on the topic of inclusion into a public discussion.

SERVICESTELLE

Jugendbeteiligung

Who we are Our initiative originated in August 2001 as a model project of the Federal Ministry for Families, Seniors, Women, and Youth (BMFSF). Since then we support youth participationat multiple levels. Since then, and independent from federal aid, we engage in politics and society promoting youth engagement and participation. In order to do this we implement model projects for the promotion of youth participation.

YOUTH PARTICIPATION MEANS THE ACTIVE PARTICIPATION OF YOUTH IN THEIR LIVING ENVIRONMENT

Here, young people need to have the opportunity to coorganize their direct and indirect environment. A prerequisite for this is low-threshold and age-appropriate access to information. In order to achieve that, fixed contact persons and jurisdiction for youth participation on all levels (community, state, federal) are needed.

SELF-CONCEPT

WHAT WE’RE DOING ABOUT IT

We work true to the principle „from youth for youth“ and see ourselves as service providers for youth engagement and participation. We work according to the Peer-to-Peer principle, which is why our team is only made up of young people. Whether volunteers, student working alongside their studies, or young people in their voluntary year of social service (FSJ), they’re all dedicated to the promotion of youth participation.

In order to reach our goal of achieving youth participation on all levels, we work together not only with young people but also with different cooperation partners in politics, social services, youth engagement organizations, and companies. Here, we assist themas partners, advisors, and service providers.

INFORMING

We keep you up to date and informed on the topic of youth participation. This includes current information on participation opportunities, support opportunities for own projects, and even qualification offers. You can find all of this information on our Facebook page and website, as well as in our monthly newsletter.

Whether you have questions about our organization or projects, or want to know how you can work with young people, we are available to advise you on any questions regarding youth participation. We work together with partners and young people at different levels of society, in political processes, and in schools.
