Le recensement a révélé des chiffres de population très inquiétants pour le Nouveau Brunswick. Toutes les données du profil comparatif proviennent de Statistique Canada, Recensement de la population de 2016.
La nôtre était la seule province qui a perdue de la population entre 2011 et 2016. Alors que la population canadienne a augmenté de plus de 1,6 million (une augmentation de 5,0%) au cours de la période de cinq ans, la population du Nouveau-Brunswick a diminué de 0,5% de 4070 habitants, passant de 751 171 à 747 101 en 2016. La perte de population de la province a été inégalement répartie. Dix des douze RICs ont connu une perte de population de 1,1% RIC 11 à 5% et dans la RIC 5. Les seuls RICs qui ont augmenté leur population étaient la RIC 1 à 3,3% et la RIC 3 de 2,5%.

La population du NouveauBrunswick diminue et vieillit.
Selon le recensement de 2016, la NouvelleÉcosse et le Nouveau-Brunswick étaient à l'égalité pour le pourcentage le plus élevé de leurs résidents aînés (de plus de 65 ans) à un taux de 19,9%. La province compte également une plus faible proportion de ses résidents de moins de 15 ans que le reste du pays. Alors que le taux national de la population de moins de 15 ans est de 5,4%, le taux provincial est de 4,6% Le RIC 4 a enregistré le taux le plus faible en 2016 soit 2,8% pour les moins de 15 ans.
