Fall Families Weekend
The 137th Corps of Cadets holds their first formal parade of the school year.
Thank you to everyone who attended Homecoming & Families Weekend October 2-3! Though modifications had to be made, we were delighted that we were able to host some of our traditional events and introduce something new.
Inaugural SJNA Athletics Golf Outing
On Friday, October 2, 93 participants (golfers and dinner guests) united for the rare opportunity to gather in public in support of SJNA’s athletic programs! The SJNA Athletics Golf Outing presented by John A. Leone in honor of Rick Leone S1975, was hosted at the scenic Grand Geneva Resort & Spa located in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. To almost picture-perfect fall weather, 65 golfers were treated to The Brute, a challenging and pristine course at the Grand Geneva.
A special thanks to all of our sponsors and attendees who made the event a huge success by raising over $40,000 in support of our athletics program! An additional thank you to David Hallenbeck N1973, director of golf operations at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, for all his assistance and guidance to launch this event.
The day of golf was capped with a celebratory dinner program as several OBAA awards were presented to deserving recipients. The majority of the presentations were postponed from May 2020 due to the COVID-19 cancellation of Commencement & Reunion Weekend. We are grateful we had the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the following award recipients: Honored Old Boy – Dr. Crain Bliwas N1965; Distinguished
Service – Greg Van Praag S1972; Honored Athlete – Dr. Robert Hessberger S1970; Honorary Old Boy – Jon Bennett H2020; and Honorary Old Boys – George and Janemarie
Hiller H2020.
On-Campus Events
On Saturday, October 3, we honored our seniors and a few select juniors in the Ring, Sword and Saber Ceremony. The big rain thankfully held off for our first parade of the year, and it really was great to see! Due to the pandemic, a formal parade had not been hosted at the Academies since late 2019.
