The Heritage Society

Annual Appreciation Ceremony

This year’s annual gathering of The Heritage Society was like no other. Thank you to everyone who attended The SJNA Heritage Society’s virtual event on Thursday, October 1.

The Leaders Circle

Honoring those who made gifts to SJNA’s Annual Fund of $1,000 or more during the 2020 fiscal year (July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020)

These annual leadership gifts are vital to SJNA because they keep us on the forefront of teaching and learning. Traditionally, Leaders Circle members have been honored at a separate reception during Commencement and Reunion Weekend. Moving forward, we will formally include these valued leaders as members of The Heritage Society.

Leaders Circle members (and those who upgrade their membership level) receive a custom Leaders Circle lapel pin. Beginning in the 2021 fiscal year (July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021), Leaders Circle membership will be bestowed upon those who contribute Annual Fund gifts of $1,884 or more. For the 2020 fiscal year, The Heritage Society recognized 139 households as members of the Leaders Circle, with contributions totaling $1,084,000. This included 27 first-year members and 12 members who elevated their membership to a higher level; 76 alums, 33 parents, and 14 staff members.

The Leaders Circle also honored 21 households who joined or renewed their membership to The 1884 Club (formerly called The 1884 Society). Established in 2013, The 1884 Club honors Leaders Circle members who have made a three-year pledge to the Annual Fund of $1,884 or more per year. Members receive a custom lapel pin.

The Loyalty Circle

Honoring those who have made past commitments totaling $50,000 or more

Formerly known as the Smythe Circle, the Loyalty Circle is comprised of 126 households, 30 of which were formally inducted during the October 1 virtual ceremony and one that was elevated in membership. Previously, The Heritage Society recognized major gifts fulfilled within a certain timeframe, as well as lifetime gifts starting at $500,000. With the new parameters of The Heritage Society, individuals and corporations are honored as members of the Loyalty Circle for lifetime commitments of $50,000 or more.

Created in 2002, The Heritage Society recognizes those who have made exceptional contributions to St. John’s Northwestern Academies through cash or planned gifts. The Advancement Office has worked to reimagine, refocus, and realign this premier gift club, which now encompasses: • the Leaders Circle to recognize annual giving; • the Loyalty Circle to recognize lifetime giving; and • the Legacy Circle to recognize planned giving.

Members of the Leaders Circle and The 1884 Club are annotated in the 2019-2020 Honor Roll of Donors found on pages S1-S13.

The Legacy Circle

Honoring those who have included St. John’s Northwestern Academies in their estate plans

The Legacy Circle, formerly known as the Davidson Circle, boasts 53 households, two of which were formally inducted in our October 1 ceremony.

Thank You!

The October 1 virtual ceremony honored all Heritage Society members and allowed us to express our appreciation for their selfless generosity to St. John’s Northwestern Academies. We are grateful for your ongoing support, and we thank you for your permanent investment in St. John’s Northwestern Academies. Your love for this campus, its cadets, students, faculty, and staff shows in your commitment to this institution, and we could not be more grateful. Congratulations to all honorees, and thank you again to all Heritage Society members!

The new parameters of The Heritage Society, which were implemented on July 1, 2020, are outlined below. Please contact the Advancement Office at (262) 646-7118 or advancement@sjnacademies.org with any questions. In the next edition of The Beacon, we will highlight the stories and rationale behind each named giving level.
