SAN JOSE RECREATION PRESCHOOL Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for a San Jose Recreation Preschool class:  Requirements for a parent participation, volunteer, snack, etc varies by center.  Teacher to child ratio is 1:10 or better.  Participants must be toilet trained by the first day of program.  Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day.  A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations.  The City of San Jose, Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare.  After reaching the class capacity your child can be put on a waitlist. If spot becomes available at any SJ Recreation Preschool center, you will receive a call and be given the option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list.  Monthly payment plan is available, with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for auto-pay option. (KinderPrep & Little Learners only)  In accordance with, child care exemption laws, children cannot be enrolled in more the 12 hours of SJ Recreation Preschool per session.

LITTLE LEARNERS (3-4 YEAR OLDS) Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, while gaining independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play, arts and crafts. Food will be provided for cooking activities and may be provided for special events. Children must be fully potty trained before the start of class. Requirements for parent attendance, volunteers, snacks, etc. varies by center.

SAN JOSE RECREATION PRESCHOOL KINDERPREP (4-5 YEAR OLDS) This class prepares your child for kindergarten with age-appropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills and fun. Your child will gain a basic understanding of shapes, colors, pre-phonics, literacy building (i.e. identifying letter sounds, and writing the alphabet, simple words), number recognition, and counting up to 30. FALL CLASSES - DANCE BABY BALLET (PARENT/CHILD) Baby ballet encourages self-expression and fun! Children learn to respond to music, improve balance and agility, and express their feelings through dance. A variety of music and props such as scarves and teddy bears keep your little one entertained. Suggested Attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights and tutus. FALL CLASSES - DANCE TAP/BALLET Tap/Ballet I introduces children to the basics of ballet and tap, combining creative movement, grace and balance. FALL CLASSES - SPORTS KARATE (KENPO) - LEVEL 1

KARATE (KENPO) - LEVEL 2/3

Learn a beginning form of martial arts that promotes respect, self esteem, leadership and self-confidence. This class teaches the techniques of kicking, punching, blocking, striking and self-defense. Karate uniforms not required, but are available through the instructor. Classes are taught by highly-qualified instructors with 2nd-5th degree Black Belts.

This is a continuation of the Level 1 class. Students will learn an intermediate form of martial arts which promotes respect, self esteem, leadership and self-confidence.
