Hier auf 1'050 Meter Höhe, eingebettet in malerischer Natur, zwischen imposanten Gipfeln und kristallklaren Seen, liegt Gstaad. Der Legende nach entstand es, als sich Gott während der Schöpfung eine Pause gönnte. Sein Handabdruck formte das Saanenland, die fünf Finger bildeten die Täler und in der Mitte entfaltete sich Gstaad. Ein Besuch lohnt sich das ganze Jahr über, doch am meisten Zauber versprüht Gstaad im Winter, wenn Puderschnee alles in eine Märchenwelt verwandelt.

WOHNEN Ein leerer Magen ist ein schlechter Ratgeber, hat Albert Einstein gesagt. Darum füllt man ihn sich besser in Marcus G. Lindners mehrfach ausgezeichneter Küche, im Leonard’s. Es ist eines der exquisiten Restaurants des Le Grand Bellevue. Das Luxushotel heisst seine Gäste im Dorfkern Gstaads willkommen. Nach einem kleinen Spaziergang durch ebendieses erreicht man ein weiteres Restaurant des Hauses: die Chesery. Hier kommt man in den Genuss von Robert Speths Sterneküche, zum Beispiel von einem Tempura-Hummer oder einem Schokoladensoufflé mit Mandarinensorbet. Eins ist garantiert, nach Gerichten wie diesen werden Sie mehr als nur gute Ratschläge parat haben. Zurück im Luxushotel nächtigen Sie in einer Chalet-Suite oder einem Turmzimmer mit Sicht auf die bezaubernde Berner Bergwelt. Eine 3'000 Quadratmeter Wellnessoase mit Dampfbädern, Heu-Sauna und Türkischem Hamam sorgt zudem für einen tiefenentspannten Aufenthalt.

GENIESSEN Gstaad ist auch ein Feinschmecker-Paradies … Mit dem Sessellift geht’s zum höchstgelegenen Bergrestaurant der Region: zum Wasserngrat. Gegessen wird Deftiges bei tanzenden Flammen am Kamin oder umgeben von Natur auf der Terrasse. Mit Bergromantik und bodenständiger europäischer Küche punktet das Restaurant Sonnenhof, untergebracht in einem hübschen Chalet bietet es eine einmalige Sicht auf das Saanenland. Ein Besuch im Rialto lohnt sich wegen der grandiosen Weinkarte von GaultMillaus „Sommelier des Jahres 2008“, Yvan Letzter, und natürlich wegen der hervorragenden Küche Manuel Stadelmanns. Bei den Brüdern Ahmet und Murat Bicik gibt’s frisch gerösteten Kaffee, Wein und Bier, und natürlich reichlich süffige Cocktails. Wenn der Magen dann doch noch knurrt, stehen auch Tapas und Paninis im Bro’s im Angebot.

SHOPPEN Nicht nur schlemmen, auch wunderbar shoppen lässt es sich im autofreien Dorfkern. Die Adresse für Modebegeisterte ist die Boutique Maison Lorenz Bach – und mit ein Grund, warum die Habitués hier oben so chic gekleidet sind. Ein Tempel für Feinschmecker ist das Delikatessengeschäft Pernet Comestibles. Ob Kaviar, Pasteten oder Käse, zu erstehen gibt es, was Gourmetherzen schneller schlagen lässt.

Zuletzt sollten Sie sich einen Abstecher in die R – Chocolate Boutique nicht entgehen lassen. Hier gibt’s Gstaader Schoggi und die besten Cremeschnitten weit und breit.

TO DO Als besonderes Highlight zeigt sich der Glacier 3000, das einzige Gletscherskigebiet des Berner Oberlands. Neun Pisten bieten mit blauen, roten und gelben Schwierigkeitsgraden die optimalen Bedingungen für Anfänger genauso wie Fortgeschrittene. In 2'971 Meter Höhe über Meer garantiert der Peak Walk by Tissot Nervenkitzel: Eine 107 Meter lange Hängebrücke verbindet den View Point mit dem Scex-Rouge-Gipfel und bietet eine atemberaubende Sicht auf verschneite Bergspitzen im Wolkenmeer. An klaren Tagen tut sich eine imposante Bergwand auf, unter anderen sehen Sie das Matterhorn, den Mont Blanc und die Berner Gipfel Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau.

Glacier 3000, Peak Walk by Tissot

Here at an altitude of 1050 meters, nestled in picturesque nature, between impressive peaks and crystal clear lakes, lies Gstaad. According to legend it emerged when God took a break while creating the earth. His handprint formed the Saanenland, the fi ve fi ngers shaped the valleys and in the middle Gstaad unfolded. It is worth a visit at any time of the year, but Gstaad is most magical in winter, when powdery snow transforms everything into a fairytale world.

LIVING An empty stomach is a poor advisor, Albert Einstein once said. Therefore it would be better to fi ll it up in Marcus G. Lindner’s multiple award-winning kitchen, Leonard's. It is one of the exquisite restaurants at Le Grand Bellevue. The luxury hotel welcomes its guests in the heart of the village of Gstaad. After a short walk through the village you come to another of the hotel’s restaurants: the Chesery. You can relish Robert Speth‘s star cuisine, for example a Tempura lobster or a chocolate souffl é with mandarin sorbet. One thing is guaranteed, after dishes like these you will be more than qualifi ed to give good advice. Back in the luxury hotel you can sleep in a chalet suite or a tower room with a view of the enchanting Bern mountain world. A 3000 square meter spa oasis with steam baths, hay sauna and Turkish hamam also ensure you will have a deeply relaxed stay.

ENJOYING Gstaad also rates as a paradise for gourmets … the chairlift takes you to the highest mountain restaurant in the area: to the Wasserngrat. Hearty food can be enjoyed by the dancing fl ames in the hearth or surrounded by nature on the terrace. Restaurant Sonnenhof excels with mountain romantic and down-to-earth European cuisine; housed in a pretty chalet, it off ers a unique view of the Saanenland. It is worth visiting Rialto because of their fantastic wine selection from GaultMillau „Sommelier of the year 2008“, Yvan Letzter, and of course because of the excellent cuisine from Manuel Stadelmann. There is freshly roasted coff ee, wine and beer at the brothers Ahmet and Murat Bicik, and of course an abundance of delicious cocktails. If your stomach is still grumbling after all that, there are tapas and paninis on off er in Bro’s.

SHOPPING The car-free village centre is not only ideal for having a feast; it is also wonderful for shopping. The address for fashion enthusiasts is the boutique Maison Lorenz Bach – it is one of the reasons why the habitués up here are all dressed so elegantly. The delicatessen Pernet Comestibles is a temple for connoisseurs. From caviar to pâtés or cheese, you can purchase everything your gourmet heart desires. Finally you should not miss out on visiting the R – Chocolate Boutique. It has Gstaad Schoggi and the best cream slices far and wide.

TO DO The Glacier 3000, the only glacier ski area in the Bern uplands, is a particular highlight. Nine slopes off er the optimal conditions for beginners as well as experienced skiers with blue, red and yellow levels of diffi culty. At 2971 meters altitude above the sea, the Peak Walk by Tissot guarantees a thrill: A 107 meter long hanging bridge connects the View Point with the Scex-Rouge summit and off ers a breath-taking view of snowy mountain caps in a sea of clouds. On clear days an impressive mountain face appears and you can see the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and the Bern summits Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau to name but a few.
