The June 2013 issue of the AirRescue Magazine focuses on Medical Care in HEMS. Articles deal with haemorrhage: „What can a physician-manned air ambulance bring to scene?“, as well as with „End-tidal capnography in the aeromedical environment”. Hypothermia is another issue that is of concern to people in HEMS. The respective case report describes the use of a “prehospital intravenous fluid and blood warmer for hypothermia”. Furthermore, an article on the Mobile Stroke Unit (MST) research project will take a look at future prospects in HEMS and hopes to finally “bringing the hospital to the patient.”
Another highlight is a collection of operator- as well as manufacturer-portraits. Among the operators “profiled” are Bond („Jigsaw SAR“) and Bristow (SAR) from the UK.
