Upgraded Domestic Terminal set for Grand Opening

“over-the-wing” units, which will allow WestJet to unload their 737 aircraft from both front and rear doors. In addition, passengers will be able to board or disembark aircraft more quickly, allowing WestJet a faster turnaround at YVR. A new central food court will feature a view of the apron from the Milestone’s Palomino Bar and Grill. New dual passenger “over-the-wing” loading bridges allow for loading and unloading from both the front and rear doors for faster turnaround time and passenger convenience.

n June 26, the Airport Authority is hosting an open house to give the public a first look at the $24-million upgrade to the A-Pier on the south end of the Domestic Terminal building, which was undertaken to help meet the growing needs of WestJet Airlines. The work done includes seismic upgrading, new heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, new electrical systems, new interior and exterior design that matches the Domestic Terminal concourse, and three new aircraft loading bridges, for a total of five positions on A-Pier. The majority of the work will occur between June 11 and September 3. Because the work will require night-time closures of the south runway, the north runway will be used during this 12-week period for all arrivals and departures after 7:30 p.m. until normal operations resume by 7:00 a.m.

Bait Car Mousetrap Displayed at YVR

“With new destinations coming online and a third jet in service, we’re now raising the bar to defy our customers’ expectations.
