Vancouver Airport Authority recently welcomed Air Canada rouge operations to YVR, as the airline began a daily, non-stop flight from Vancouver to Las Vegas, Nevada on April 28, 2014. This route is one of five announced routes that Air Canada rouge will launch from YVR. “Just in time for our busy summer travel season, we are delighted to welcome Air Canada rouge operations to YVR,” said Craig Richmond, president and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “With Air Canada rouge now touching down in Vancouver, travellers will have more selection to our popular US destinations—including the addition of its service to Phoenix.” As one of its largest carriers, Air Canada flights comprise 40 per cent of YVR’s operations across international, transborder and domestic sectors.

Close to 250 people turned out for YVR first annual Cherry Blossom Community Day, which was held at Larry Berg Flight Path Park.

YVR recently hosted a Cherry Blossom Community Day—part of the annual Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival (VCBF)—at Larry Berg Flight Path Park. The inaugural event to celebrate spring and cherry blossoms was attended by nearly 250 people. YVR’s community ambassadors, the

YVR team celebrating the award for the Best Airport in North America for the fifth consecutive year as part of the Skytrax World Airport Awards.

YVR Flight Crew, handed out plane spotting guides, bubble bottles and more than 600 lollipops in celebration of the Cherry Blossom Community Day. The community day featured guest speakers, tours and prizes. Participants were invited to submit their photos for a chance to win a YVR Prize Bike.

Last month, YVR began a celebration campaign to thank its employees, customers, airlines and business partners for being named #1 Airport in North America for the fifth consecutive year by Skytrax World Airport Awards. As part of a thank-you to passengers, a YVR team gave away YVR Bucks—which could be spent at any in-terminal restaurant, shop or service provider—chocolate stars and smiles in the International Arrivals area. The award marked only the second time in Skytrax history that any airport has earned top ranking five years in a row.
