A Vancouver Airport Authority employee replacing the 30-12 crosswind runway sign with a new 13-31 sign to reflect the realignment of the runway with the shifting magnetic heading.
Vancouver Airport Authority recently renumbered its crosswind runway from 12-30 to 13-31 to align itself with the shifting magnetic north pole. The magnetic north pole is the point on the surface of Earth’s northern hemisphere at which the planet’s magnetic field points vertically downwards. The runways at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and other airports are numbered to the nearest 10 degrees according to its magnetic heading. Overtime, magnetic chang-
es in the Earth’s core shifts the magnetic north pole and as a result, every 60 or 70 years, the runways are renumbered to meet Transport Canada and industry regulations. YVR’s crosswind runway has been numbered 12-30 since it was first built. Landing and takeoffs are preferred on the crosswind runway when winds are blown from the north or south directions. The magnetic heading for YVR’s crosswind runway is now 125°01’/305°01’, which means
the runway is now closer to 130º/310º than 120º/300º, necessitating the change to 13-31. The change from 12-30 to 13-31 required a large amount of coordination and teamwork from Vancouver Airport Authority employees and its partners, since maps, signs, publications and runway paint also had to be changed to reflect the new number. For more information about the runway’s renumbering, please visit yvr.ca.
Is Canada’s best restroom located at YVR?
At YVR, travellers find clean, modern washrooms in which to freshen up during their journeys. The washroom walls in C-Pier of the Domestic Terminal are covered in shades of blue, red, and yellow mosaic tiles. Wave-shaped blue flooring winds down the curved corridor, leading guests to their choice of bathroom stalls.
Over the years, Vancouver International Airport has won numerous awards including top billing as the #1 Airport in North America for five consecutive years. The latest nomination, however, may so far be the most unique—competing for the title of Canada’s Best Restroom. Created in 2010, the Cintas Canada Best Restroom Award is open to any non-residential restroom in Canada that is accessible to the general public. Entries are judged on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. “This contest is fun, but it also conveys a critical message that restroom hygiene matters— for good health and good business,” said Leslie Molin, Cintas’ senior marketing manager. Each year, Canada’s most noteworthy “places to go” are identified and then voted on by
the Internet public in the battle of the bowls. This year’s five finalists hail from Ontario (three), Calgary (one) and B.C (one)— a washroom located in C-Pier, Domestic Terminal of YVR. The winner of the 5th annual Cintas Canada’s Best Restroom Contest will be revealed during a nationally publicized media event this fall, where the winner will be awarded $2,500 in Cintas facility services. Headquartered in Ontario, Cintas designs, manufactures and implements corporate identity uniform programs and provides restroom cleaning and supplies to approximately 55,000 businesses in Canada. From now until October, the public is invited to take a photographic tour of each facility and choose its favourite washroom by online ballot at bestrestroom. com/canada.

Nicotine-free tobacco plant being tested for use as jet fuel
A test farm for aviation biofuel in Limpopo province, South Africa. Photo credit: Sunchem South Africa.
Boeing, South African Airways (SAA) and SkyNRG are collaborating to make sustainable aviation biofuel from a new type of tobacco plant. SkyNRG, which produces sustainable jet fuel, is expanding production of the hybrid plant known as Solaris as an energy crop that farmers could grow instead of traditional tobacco. Test farming of the plants, which are effectively nicotine-free, is underway in South Africa with biofuel production expected from large and small farms in the next few years. Initially, oil from the plant’s seeds will be converted into jet fuel. In coming
years, Boeing expects emerging technologies to increase South Africa’s aviation biofuel production from the rest of the plant. “By using hybrid tobacco, we can leverage knowledge of tobacco growers in South Africa to grow a marketable biofuel crop without encouraging smoking,” said Ian Cruickshank, South African Airways group environmental affairs specialist. “This is another way that SAA and Boeing are driving development of sustainable biofuel while enhancing our region’s economic opportunity.” In October 2013, Boeing and SAA announced that the two companies would work together
to develop a sustainable aviation biofuel supply chain in Southern Africa. As part of that effort, Boeing and SAA are working to position farmers with small plots of land to grow biofuel feedstocks that provide socioeconomic value to communities without harming food supplies, fresh water or land use. When produced sustainably, aviation biofuel reduces carbon emissions by 50 to 80 per cent compared to petroleum jet fuel through its lifecycle. Airlines have conducted more than 1,500 passenger flights using biofuel since the fuel was approved in 2011.

Bees playing a key role in Airbus’ environmental footprint The Airbus family of widebody and single-aisle aircraft are not the only buzz-worthy products created by the European aircraft manufacturer. More than 600 jars of honey are collected each year from beehives at Airbus’ Hamburg facilities. The beehives are located near the company’s aircraft paint shop and close to the runway where new-build jetliners carry out flight tests on site at Finkenwerder Airport in Hamburg, Germany. As part of the company’s biomonitoring efforts and to help analyze the environmental footprint of the company’s opera-
tions, honey from these bees, which collect the pollen and nectar from hundreds of thousands of plants across an approximately 12-square-kilometre area, is to used to provide key data on the quality of surrounding soil, air and water. For example, any metal or chemical deposits in flowers from the surrounding areas would also be detected in the honey. Independent laboratory test results show pollution levels from Airbus facilities to be even lower than in Hamburg’s city centre and no higher than other areas.
“We have tested three different parameters this year: wax, pollen and honey, from two different beehive locations,” said Airbus’ fulltime beekeeper Eberhard Schädlich, who was previously an electronics technician with the company. “We are very proud to say that every single result shows pollution levels are well under approved limits.” The tens of thousands of bees in the Airbus hives produce more than 160 kilograms of honey, annually. In addition to test analysis, the honey is also jarred and given as presents to customers, suppliers and Airbus staff.
Honey collected from beehives at Airbus’ Germany facilities is used to help the company monitor its environmental footprint.

Is there a link between a healthy mouth and a healthy body?
Research shows there may be a link between oral disease and other health problems such as diabetes, respiratory disease, heart disease and stroke, as well as premature and low-birthweight babies. Although scientists are only just beginning to understand this link, dentists are encouraging people to make oral health care a regular part of a healthy lifestyle. Parents of infants or small children are encouraged to start teaching their children about good oral health as early as possible and even consider taking them for their first visit to the dentist as early as two years of age. Good health requires good nutrition, but without strong teeth and healthy gums the ability to eat properly is diminished. Choice of foods becomes restricted and may result in difficulties in getting all the nutrients the body needs. Additionally, chronic mouth infection, commonly found with gingivitis or gum disease, strains the body’s immune system.
Prevention of gum and tooth problems It makes good sense to perform regular maintenance on one’s teeth and gums rather than let a problem grow out of hand from neglect. Following is the Canadian Dental Association’s Five-Point Prevention Plan to keep teeth and gums healthy. 1. Brush teeth carefully at least once every 24 hours. It takes about 2.5 to 3 minutes to do the job right. 2. Floss teeth daily. Flossing cleans those areas that the toothbrush simply cannot reach between the teeth and under the gum line. 3. Eat, drink, but be wary. Eat a well-balanced diet. Avoid sweet foods and drinks especially between meals. And please don’t smoke. Smoking can promote serious dental problems such as gum disease and oral cancer. 4. Check your gums. Check regularly for these signs of gum disease, the leading cause of adult tooth loss: red, puffy or
tender gums; gums that bleed even slightly when you brush or floss; persistent bad breath. See your dentist if any occur. 5. Don’t wait until it hurts. See your dentist for preventive checkups and professional cleanings. Regular visits are the best way to prevent trouble and unnecessary expense. Gum disease Nine out of ten Canadians will develop gum disease at some time in their lives. It is the most common dental problem and can progress quite painlessly, so it is important to prevent it before it becomes serious. Gum disease begins when plaque adheres at and below the visible edge of your gums. If plaque is not removed every day by brushing and flossing, it hardens into tartar. Signs of gum disease include: • gums bleeding from brushing or flossing your teeth • teeth moving or loosening • pain, redness, or swelling of the gums • persistent bad breath There are two main kinds of
gum diseases: gingivitis and periodontitis. If you have gingivitis, your gums may be slightly red, or you may notice nothing at all. In more advanced cases, gums may become puffy and bleed during brushing. Periodontitis is a more serious form of gum disease involving the bone that supports the teeth. Over time, as a result of the bone loss caused by periodontitis, there may be a risk of losing one or more teeth. Prevention is the most important factor in the fight against gum disease. It is essential to keep your teeth and gums clean. Brush your teeth properly at least twice a day and floss at least once every 24 hours—using proper brushing and flossing techniques is equally important. Also, avoid smoking or chewing tobacco. Be sure to see your dentist regularly for professional cleaning and checkups so that any early signs of gum disease can be detected and appropriate treatment can be provided. Cosmetic dentistry Wishing you had a dazzling
white smile? Tired of stained, crooked or chipped teeth, or want to remove a mouthful of metal? There are many dental procedures that can be done for cosmetic reasons, including bleaching, crowns, veneers and orthodontics. Your dentist can make sure that you start with healthy teeth and gums that are free of cavities or other problems that could prevent you from getting the results you want from your cosmetic procedure. Some dentists perform cosmetic procedures as part of their practices and others will provide a referral to an appropriate dentist to perform the work. Before the work starts, find out how long it will take and how you will feel during the procedure. Check whether there is more than one way to get the final result. Some procedures, such as tooth bleaching or whitening, can be done in the dentist’s chair, or you may be able to whiten your teeth at home using a special tray the dentist will make to fit your teeth. Home bleaching of
the teeth can take one to two weeks and the amount of time the bleaching solution remains on the teeth will vary. Ask whether there will be any pain or sensitivity associated with the procedure. Some people find that the bleaching process can cause increased sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures. Ask the dentist if there are ways to prevent and manage this effect. In order to have reasonable expectations about the results of treatment, ask to see pictures of actual patients and find out how long your newly beautiful smile will last. Most procedures will eventually have to be redone at intervals—six months to a year for bleaching, or 10 to 15 years for crowns. Most cosmetic procedures are not covered by employer dental plans. Find out the cost of the procedure up front and determine how you will finance it. Ask your dental office if financing packages are offered for the procedures. Oral health affects overall health, so do your body a favour and visit the dentist.

that can only be solved by all of the parties involved—airlines, aircraft and training equipment manufacturers, training delivery organizations, regulatory agencies and educational institutions around the world.” Boeing’s 2014 Pilot and Technician Outlook projects continued increases in pilot demand, which is up approximately seven per cent compared to 2013. Maintenance training has increased just over five per cent. Pilot demand in the Asia Pacific region now comprises 41 per cent of the world’s need, and the Middle East region saw significant growth since last year’s outlook due to increased airline capacity and orders for widebody models, which require more crew members. Overall, the global demand
is driven by steadily increasing airplane deliveries, particularly wide-body airplanes and represents a global requirement for about 27,000 new pilots and 29,000 new technicians annually. Projected demand for new pilots and technicians by global region: • Asia Pacific – 216,000 pilots and 224,000 technicians • Europe – 94,000 pilots and 102,000 technicians • North America – 88,000 pilots and 109,000 technicians • Latin America – 45,000 pilots and 44,000 technicians • Middle East – 55,000 pilots and 62,000 technicians • Africa – 17,000 pilots and 19,000 technicians • Russia and CIS – 18,000 pilots and 24,000 technicians.

Government of Canada provides funding to improve international job recognition The Canadian Government will provide more than $3.3-million in funding to the Government of British Columbia to improve foreign credential recognition so internationally trained professionals can get jobs faster in their fields. The funding will help to remove barriers to foreign credential recognition, providing
support for more than 30 projects that help skilled newcomers in B.C. find jobs in their fields faster. Over the next decade, approximately one-million job openings are expected in British Columbia, with newcomers anticipated to fill about onethird of those new jobs by 2020. The federal government, in partnership with the provinces
and territories, will improve foreign credential recognition for 10 new priority occupations, including those in the skilled trades and healthcare. The new priority occupations are: geoscientists, carpenters, electricians, heavy duty equipment technicians, heavy equipment operators, welders, audiologists and speech language pathologists, midwives,
psychologists, and lawyers. New Canadians in those fields will have their credentials assessed within a one year period. “Our government’s top priorities are creating jobs, economic growth and long-term prosperity,” said Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development and Minister for Multiculturalism.
“[The new] funding will help new Canadians realize their dream of finding well-paying jobs and providing for their families, while also helping fill shortages in in-demand jobs in the Canadian economy. Our Government will continue to work to streamline the recognition of foreign credentials and help new Canadians find jobs in their fields faster.”
Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development and Minister for Multiculturalism.

Softball team members prepare for battle.
Gary Eng, general manager, Summit Customs Brokers, throws a slo-pitch.
Rubina Hope For Kids charity celebrates the memory of Rubina Wong, who passed away during the tragic Southeast Asia tsunami that occurred in 2004. Since its founding, the charity holds yearly fundraising events,
with all proceeds benefitting children in the local community. An annual Summer Softball Slam event is sponsored by Sea Island-based Summit Customs Brokers. At this year’s 7th anniver-
sary event, held last month at Richmond’s King George Park, 10 teams took to the field to battle for top honours. In ‘A’ division, Delta Airport Hotel’s Delta Mayhem team dethroned last year’s winners, NW Blues team, while Aerostream Logistics took the honours in ‘B’ division. Title for Most SportsmanLike team was claimed by Hilton Heroes (Hilton Burnaby Metrotown).
More than 300 were in attendance and $17,000 was raised, making the Rubina Hope For Kids charity the big winner. “A big thank-you to all participants, sponsors and volunteers for making this year’s event the most successful to date,” said Gary Eng general manager, Summit Customs Brokers and a member of the charity’s Board of Directors. “This was a fitting way to celebrate the charity’s
10th anniversary.” For more information on

DeHavilland Beaver provides unique flight experience Tofino Air’s new general manager Josh Ramsay is on a mission to introduce more travellers to B.C.’s Sunshine Coast via flights onboard one of its aircraft, an iconic Canadian DeHavilland Beaver. Ramsay is ideally suited to market what he calls B.C.’s “hidden gem,” having spent more than 15 years flying around the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island. “I am passionate about flying and I find there are many travellers to the coast who are very interested in the area’s history, as well as our classic aircraft,” said Ramsay. “We want people to experience the Sunshine Coast by air, where they can have birdseye views of rugged coastlines, wildlife and marine life—all of which make the Sunshine Coast so spectacular.” The DeHavilland Beaver has the ability to perform short takeoffs and landings, which allows access to remote beaches and lakes. This is ideal for viewing the wildlife and marine life the Sunshine Coast has to offer. Tofino Air is a locally owned and operated company that has been providing travel for the Sunshine Coast community for more than 25 years. The air-

line originally began as a small logging transportation company, flying employees to and from remote locations in and around the Sunshine Coast and beyond. Tofino Air continues to provide charter services for logging companies working on projects in Sechelt Inlet, but also works with local visitor centres, resorts, hotels and the new Aboriginal Eco Tours BC organization to offer local and international travellers scenic West Coast flights.
Ramsay is also working closely with the Aboriginal community, researching the Sechelt (shíshálh) First Nation history to provide informative tours for visitors to the Coast who are interested in learning about First Nation’s heritage and its people. Tofino Air offers yearround charter services from Vancouver’s South Terminal. For more information, visit tofinoair.ca, or call 1-888-4367776.

Ricky He, an air cadet from 692 BCIT Aerospace Squadron in Richmond, has been appointed Camp Warrant Officer, 1st Class of the Albert Head Cadet Summer Training Centre, making him the highest-ranked leader of 1,000 cadets attending the training centre this summer. In January 2006, He’s Richmond Squadron, the 692 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, forged a relation-
ship with the BCIT Aerospace Technology Campus. The partnership with BCIT fostered enormous growth within the unit, making 692 BCIT Aerospace one of the largest cadet units in British Columbia. With the support of BCIT, more than 200 cadets parade weekly on Thursdays from September to June at the BCIT Aerospace Technology Campus.
The Air Cadet program aims to develop the attributes of good citizenship and leadership, promote physical fitness and stimulate an interest in the air activities of the Canadian Forces. He beat out 78 other senior air cadets for the position over a grueling five-day selection process, which included detailed assessments of leadership abilities, instructional skills as well as dress and deportment.

Canada’s last airworthy WWII Lancaster takes to the skies
The Lancaster’s first stop on its journey to Britain was Keflavik, Iceland, where the aircraft and crew were greeted by Canada’s Ambassador to Iceland, Colonel Marc Bigaouette (RCAF Advisor to the UK & Defence Attache to Iceland) as well as special invited guests. Photo: courtesy Canadian Warplane Museum.
Canada’s last airworthy Lancaster bomber has embarked on one of the most eagerly anticipated journeys of its post-World War II service history. The vintage flyer, which departed earlier this month from its home at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton, Ont., will join the only other airworthy plane of its kind—a Lancaster belonging to Britain’s Royal Air Force—for a six-week tour of the United Kingdom. From now until mid-September, millions are expected to turn out to see the twin Lancasters in action. It’s a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will never happen again,” according to Al Mickeloff, marketing manager for the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. Eight people–a five-crew flight team, two documentary filmmakers and one passenger– are making the transatlantic trek aboard the 69-year-old bomber. The passenger is Matthew Munson, a 34-year-old British entrepreneur who bid $79,000 on eBay for the trip of a lifetime. The museum held the eBay auction to raise money to help defray the estimated $750,000 cost of taking the Lancaster on tour. Avro Lancaster Built in 1941, the Avro Lancaster became the most famous allied bomber used during World War II, with a total of 7,377 produced in Canada and Britain. After the war, more than 200 of the planes remained in active service for more than a decade and were used for Arctic reconnaissance and maritime patrol, before the RCAF discontinued the Lancaster in 1964.

Now that such a revolutionary engine was established, we needed the ultimate transmission to get all that precious energy to the wheels. How do you build that? Study every modern transmission made, take the best features of each and fire up the blender. Then, top it all off by adding a brain, A.K.A. an advanced control module. The result is the SKYACTIVEDrive 6-speed Sport mode automatic transmission. It shifts smoothly for steady acceleration and quickly for connected feel of a manual transmission, while the brain delivers precision responsiveness and reliability. With our SKYACTIV Body and Chassis, we were determined to get more of that exhilarating Mazda driving feel while increasing crash safety performance and reducing weight. Through smarter engineering and materials, we were able to improve body rigidity by 30% (for better handling) and shed 220 pounds, all while improving crash safety performance. To give you more of that “oneness” between car and driver, the suspension was redesigned for greater agility at low speeds and more stability at high speeds.

Travel Talk The Incredible Hulk smashes his way into Las Vegas
Canada Wide Communications Samsung Galaxy S4 Now Available $0 Based on selected 2 year contract
Madame Tussauds Las Vegas introduced Marvel Comics’ The Incredible Hulk into its Las Vegas attraction. At 4.5-metres high, this is the largest figure to reside in the gallery. To celebrate The Incredible Hulk’s arrival, from now until Sunday, August 24, 2014, children aged 12 and under who dress as their favourite super hero, or say “Hulk Smash,” will receive complimentary admission to the attraction. Faithful Facebook followers will also have a chance to win by answering the question, “Why are you a Hulk fan?” The winner will receive an Incredible Hulk Pop! figure signed by Marvel legend Stan Lee. Madame Tussauds will select the winner and make the announcement via Facebook on Monday, August 25, 2014. Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk figure was created by Madame Tussauds’ creative team and brought to life by sculptors who worked closely with Marvel. Because of its size, its creation was no ordinary feat. Over the course of three months, 15 sculptors worked on component pieces, such as the head, torso and arms, in order to capture every detail. Once the
clay sculpt was completed, each of the sections were moulded individually. Due to the enormous size of the figure, five times as many materials were used to make the larger than life moulds. Once all the components were complete, assembling the figure required eight people. It was the first time the team had seen the figure as a whole. Finally, the very last details were added using a ladder to reach the highest spots. Scaffolding was needed to install the figure at the attraction. Hulk’s debut follows the recent opening of Madame Tussauds Las Vegas’ Marvel Super Heroes 4D Experience. This interactive spectacle takes place in a pulse-pounding, 70-seat theatre, where the action spills out of the screen over the audience with thrill-enhancing sensory special effects—from water sprays and smoke clouds to tremors beneath the feet. For more information about Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, visit madametussauds.com/ lasvegas/. For information on airlines that fly to Las Vegas from YVR, vist yvr.ca.

Airline & Aviation Puerto Vallarta’s climate, scenery, tropical beaches and rich cultural history have all contributed to its growth as a world-class destination.
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, has received a number of awards and recognitions in the first six months of 2014, celebrating its infrastructure and the high quality services and tourism offerings available to visitors. With more than 64 kilometres of diverse terrain, Puerto Vallarta offers a myriad of attractions, ranging from water sports to the longest zip-line in Mexico. Located on Mexico’s Pacific Coast in the state of Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta turned 96 this
year. While it has grown to be a world-class destination, at its centre it still remains a charming Mexican pueblo with colonial architecture and cobblestone streets. With a variety of places to fit any budget, Puerto Vallarta’s lodging options include leading hotel chains, all-inclusive resorts, haciendas, boutique hotels and much more. The city of Puerto Vallarta started a series of remodeling projects six years ago, and in the
past two years has re-opened its iconic Malecon boardwalk, the historic Pier Los Muertos was refurbished and the streets of the downtown area were widened, making it one of the few tourist zones in Mexico to be pedestrian friendly and wheelchair accessible. Tripadvisor’s consumer base of more than two-million monthly users have voted Puerto Vallarta onto their list of overall best destinations, this year coming in at #2 overall best
Mexican destination for the 2014 Traveller’s Choice Award. The Traveller’s Choice Awards are significant because each destination must earn the award as a result of maintaining at least a 4-star average score from consumers in both its hotels and restaurants over the course of 12 months. Richmond Council moves forward on major civic projects Richmond Council has endorsed program space allocations for a new community complex in Minoru Park as well as new fire locations at Brighouse No.1 and Cambie No. 3. The new complex, located in Minoru Park, will include a new older-adults centre and aquatics facility, as well as program space for sport, recreation and wellness activities. It replaces existing facilities in Minoru Park that have become outdated and inadequate to meet community need. The new building will have dedicated spaces to ensure individual stakeholder needs are met while maximizing programmable use. The aquatic centre will feature a 25-metre pool and a variety of leisure and teaching oriented amenities. “This new multi-purpose complex will be a focal point for our community and this plan provides for an outstanding and diverse mix of amenities and services,”
said Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “Council is committed to ensuring that these new facilities appropriately address the specific and varying needs of all of our facility user groups and the general community.” The complex, which is to open in 2017, is part of a $79.6-million project, which also includes relocation and upgrade of a number of playing surfaces in Minoru Park. Council also approved a program space allocation plan for a new Brighouse No.1 Fire Hall. The new $22.3-million facility will replace the current No. 1 Fire Hall at its current location at the corner of Gilbert and Granville. The new fire hall, which will also house Richmond Fire Rescue’s administration offices, is to be complete by 2016. Work is also underway on design and construction of a new Cambie Fire Hall No. 3, which will include B.C.’s first joint fire hall/ambulance station located in a major urban centre.

All-new cargo hauler delivers utility and economy Ford’s all-new 2014 Transit Connect cargo van provides costconscious commercial fleets and small business owners with fuel economy and versatility. Redesigned from the ground up, this handsome van drives and parks like a car, hauls more payload than a full-size Ram 1500 pickup and delivers fuel efficiency claims unmatched by any other commercial vehicle in North America today. “We have completely reengineered the Transit Connect with North American business owners’ [needs] top of mind,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of the Americas. “This all-new cargo hauler offers entrepreneurs and fleet owners a unique combination of leading fuel efficiency, cargo capacity and
manoeuvrability.” To meet customer needs, Transit Connect comes in XL and XLT series levels, with up to a 725 –kilogram payload and more than 3,700 litres (130 cubic feet) of cargo space. For the first time this compact van is approved to tow up to 907-kilograms when properly equipped. Owners have a choice between two four-cylinder engines—a standard 2.5 –litre and an optional 1.6-litre EcoBoost delivering 6.6-litres per 100 kilometres on the highway. Compressed natural gas/liquid propane gas can be packaged with the 2.5L engine. Both engines come mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, geared for around-town responsiveness and low-rpm highway cruising.
Features include convenient sliding side doors, side-hinged rear cargo doors, choice of side and rear windows plus a 725 –kilogram payload capacity.

and side-curtain airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system and Ford’s Mykey programmable ignition key, which allows owners and fleet administrators to restrict maximum vehicle speed and audio volume. Monitoring systems for location, speed and
excess idle time can be added for use in multiple vehicle fleets. First introduced in 2009, the Transit Connect was recognized as filling a new category in the market and in 2010 named North American Truck of the Year. This versatile, front-wheel-
drive van has gone on to record sales and earned its recognition as the popular choice with a wide range of business owners. Prices start at $30,000 for the XLT version, as shown. Test-drive the latest model at your local Ford dealer.
