Air Canada rouge inaugurated its non-stop seasonal service to Kansai International Airport (KIX) in Osaka, Japan from YVR on May 1, 2015. This service will operate up to five times weekly between Vancouver and Osaka for the peak summer travel period of May-October. This new route is the only non-stop flight between KIX and a Canadian airport and will continue to bolster YVR’s current service to Japan. YVR offers the most capacity and frequency to Japan of any other airport in Canada. “Just in time for our busy summer travel season, we are thrilled that Air Canada rouge has chosen YVR to expand its international route network with non-stop flights to Osaka,” said Craig Richmond, president and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “At YVR, we pride

Aeromexico, Mexico’s flag carrier, will begin new daily non-stop service between YVR and Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX) in Mexico City on December 9, 2015. The airline will operate a Boeing 737-700 aircraft with seat capacity for 124 passengers including 12 in Class Premier, Aeromexico’s Business Class cabin. “Aeromexico’s decision to fly to YVR further strengthens our position as the gateway hub between Asia and the Americas,” said Craig Richmond, president and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “The new service will give businesses more options to reach customers in Mexico and throughout Latin America.” The new service will add 160 jobs to the B.C. economy and $9.9-million in Gross Domestic Product, $3.4-million in taxes and $2.9-million in wages to the province.
It will also provide opportunities for B.C. businesses to reach new customers, suppliers and investors throughout Mexico and Latin America. “Air connections between Mexico and Canada are essential to the growing mobility of citizens between both countries; the new Aeromexico flight from Mexico City to Vancouver will foster tourism, business and student travel in both directions,” said Claudia Franco Hijuelos, Consul General of Mexico in Vancouver. “Furthermore, competitive prices will enable Mexico’s global airline to tap
into growing demand.” Aeromexico offers connectivity to 45 destinations within Mexico and 16 destinations in Latin America. Flight AM696 will leave MEX daily at 6pm, arriving at YVR at 10:05pm the same day. Flight AM697 will leave YVR at 11:20pm, arriving at MEX at 7am the following day. Record-setting sixth Skytrax Best Airport win
Skytrak Thank You Friday was a celebration of YVR’s sixth consecutive year of maintaining its #1 ranking as Best Airport in North America.
Last Month, YVR celebrated its record-setting sixth consecutive Skytrax win for Best Airport in North America with an in-terminal thank-you celebration. YVR team members, with the help of 55 employees from 11 organizations handed out 3,000 chocolate airplane lollipops, 2,500 YVR chocolates, 3,000 YVR lollipops and thousands of thank-you postcards to
YVR employees, passengers, partners and community members. Thank-you squads were deployed airside and in-terminal. The airplane lollipops, all of which were distributed by lunchtime, proved to be a hot commodity. The Airport Authority expressed thanks to everyone who participated in the celebration and to the 24,000 people who work and volunteer at YVR.
