Vancouver International Airport (YVR) recently received Level 3 Airport Carbon Accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI) for its efforts in sustainability. This is an upgrade from the Level 2 accreditation it has held for the past two years. Launched in 2009, Airport Carbon Accreditation is an independent program administered by WSP, an international consultancy, which is appointed by ACI Europe to enforce the accreditation criteria for airports on an annual basis. An Advisory Board oversees the administration of the Airport Carbon Accreditation program. “As a community-focused airport, we pride ourselves on

being a leader in sustainability and this independent carbon accreditation is further proof that our efforts are working,” said Craig Richmond, president and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. “Our primary goal is to build, maintain and operate a safe and sustainable airport. “To effectively manage our impact on the environment, we maintain robust policies and procedures aligned with our values. I am so pleased that we are now Level 3-certified and applaud the hard work of not only the YVR team, but also our business partners in helping us to achieve this new level.” As YVR looks to build a new Environmental Mana– gement Plan, the airport remains on track to fulfil its

November YVR construction update

Community

YVR is undergoing a multi-year expansion plans that will see the airport complete 75 major projects, totaling $9.1-billion over the next 20 years.

Construction continues at YVR on several key projects that will enhance the airport experience. This includes the airport’s biggest sustainability projects to date, new parking options, terminal expansions and much more. Some projects that may be seen on Sea Island this month include: • Starting early November, construction will begin on an enclosed area between the International and Domestic terminals. Construction will take approximately two weeks to complete and there may be intermittent noise. This work is being done to create a temporary baggage system and is expected to be in place until July 2019.

• Construction is starting in early November on the Great Blue Heron MultiUse Pathway. The project is expected to be complete by January 2019. The path will connect to the existing path on Airport Road, connecting alongside Larry Berg Flight Path Park, across Russ Baker Way to Cessna Drive. • There will be various improvements to a section of Pier B, in the Domestic terminal. As part of this work, there will be hoarding and phased closures of two passenger hold rooms. Work is anticipated to be complete by June 2019. • As part of the International Pier D expansion project, steel

work has begun. This will take place airside and may include noisy work. Given that there are 24-hour operations in this part of the terminal, this could potentially be disruptive for those with flights at nearby gates. Travellers seeking a quiet area can find seating in the creek area, near the food court. • As part of work to improve processes for transfer passengers, there may be intermittent noise within the U.S. pre-board screening area, as well as U.S. Customs, during daytime hours. • Various work is continuing in the old Value Lot (adjacent to the Parkade) to prepare for the construction of a new sixstorey parking lot and Central

Utilities Building. This month, the work includes traffic control measures around the south west exit and utilities relocation. Please follow all directional signage in the area. • Scheduled maintenance work is continuing at level 3 of the Parkade. This work will occur in phases during daytime hours and is expected to be complete by mid-November. • As part of the jetSet Parking lot reconfiguration project, the cell phone lot has been temporarily relocated. There is clear directional signage to the interim lot. When construction is complete, it will be paved and have WiFi, offering an improved customer experience.

• A section of McDonald Road is now closed for construction traffic only. This work is part of the project to extend the east apron for Remote Stand Operations. Please follow all directional signage to the new McDonald Road, located east of North Service Place. • There is construction on the North Runway End Safety Area (RESA). This construction is expected to be completed in November and will include night time work. YVR is doing its best to minimize impact to the neighbouring members of the Richmond, Vancouver south slope and Burkeville communities and encourages anyone who has more ques-

tions about construction to visit its website or to email RESAinfo@yvr.ca. Once complete, all YVR runways will have 300-metre RESAs, double the recommended Canadian standards. RESAs protect the travelling public in the unlikely event of an aircraft overrun or undershoot. • Construction is underway to prepare for Phase II of the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Vancouver Airport. This phase is scheduled to open in Spring 2019 and will deliver more than 7,800 square metres of additional retail space. For more information on these projects, please visit yvr.ca/ construction.

The Government of Canada recently recognized YVR for outstanding achievement in employment equity with two Employment Equity Achievement Awards: The Sector distinction award and the new Employment Equity Champion award. The annual Employment Equity Achievement Awards (EEAA) highlight employers who are committed to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces in Canada for four designated groups: women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities. YVR identifies occupational gaps in the workforce and set

specific hiring targets for the four groups listed above. The Honourable Patricia Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, presented YVR president and CEO Craig Richmond with the awards at the annual EEAA event last month. The Sector distinction award recognizes employers who are inspirational role models in their sector. In addition to demonstrating a strong commitment and achieving success in implementing employment equity in their own organization, these employers also champion employment equity for the sector. Craig Richmond was presented with the first-ever

Employment Equity Champion award. This new award recognizes an executive for their proven track record of championing employment equity within their organization, as well as their overall contribution to diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace. YVR strives to create a workplace that reflects the diversity of the communities it serves, including a commitment to diversity across its organization. Its commitment to inclusiveness includes a belief that everyone should be able to fly and enjoy the world and, in the same way, that everyone should be able to have a great career working at the airport.

Chapel fundraiser includes WestJet and Fairmont Vancouver prizes The interfaith YVR Chapel invites the airport community to participate in two upcoming annual events. The first is the Remembrance Day Service, which will be held at The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: The Jade Canoe on Sunday November 11 at 10:45am. Airport chaplains will join members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and local Sea Cadets in a service of honour and remembrance of past and present members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Please join if you are in the terminal. The second event is the Chapel Holiday Drop-In and Fundraising Campaign, planned for December 3-21, during which hot apple cider and homemade goodies will be

offered to the YVR community. This year, the Chapel’s fundraiser has been combined with the Holiday Drop-In and each donation of $20 to the YVR Chapel makes the donor eligible to win a draw for a combined WestJet air travel and Fairmont Vancouver Airport room and buffet prize, courtesy of these two YVR partners. The YVR Chapel is in International Arrivals, Level 2, across from Tim Hortons and functions to serve the personal, social and spiritual needs of the travelling public and airline/airport employees of all faiths. For more information, visit yvrchaplaincy.org or call 604.303.3010.

Carbon Accreditation from page 1

As part of Level 3 accreditation, airports are required to engage third parties in carbon reduction. YVR works closely with business partners and communities to minimize vehicle, building and aircraft gas emissions. This is done through promoting alternative forms of transportation to and from Sea Island, upgrading YVR’s fleet and improving airport infrastructure, reducing fossil fuel consumption and raising awareness of clean air practices. “Airports strive to be good partners within their communities and in the global aviation system by promoting sustainability and environmentally responsible practices,” said ACI-NA president and CEO Kevin M. Burke. “One of the chief ways North American airports can lower their carbon footprint is

by participating in the Airport Carbon Accreditation program. I applaud the airports like Vancouver International Airport that are leading our industry on a path toward continued success in innovation and sustainability.” YVR’s current 2015-2019 Environmental Management Plan sets the framework for the organization’s environmental initiatives. In addition to its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, YVR is working to divert 50 per cent of waste from landfill and reduce potable water consumption by 30 per cent. YVR is also committed to improving ecosystem health and was named the first airport in the world to be salmon-safe certified.

Fly Calm initiative Continued from page 1

YVR has been working with the CMHA BC Division since April 2017, including the organization’s national “Ride Don’t Hide” fundraiser to raise awareness and combat stigma associated with mental illness. Earlier this year, YVR employees, along with other riders from across Canada, helped raise more than $1.8-million for the Canadian Mental Health Association’s community-based programs and services. “We were intrigued when YVR came to us wanting to help ease traveller stress,” said Bev Gutray, CEO, CMHA BC Division. “Although much of the travel experience is out of one’s control, there are still

things you can do to manage your stress.” Partnerships such as this are part of YVR’s commitment to bring social benefits to the communities the airport serves. The airport’s community investment program has three key areas of focus: Accessibility, Community and Environment. In 2017, YVR donated more than $1-million to more than 50 organizations that created innovative programs in their communities. The Fly Calm initiative colouring books and pencil crayons are now available at all presecurity Customer Information Counters at YVR or for download at flycalm.ca.

Canada’s airports welcome study on flight training The Canadian Airports Council (CAC) has welcomed a motion, recently tabled in the House of Commons by Liberal MP Stephen Fuhr of KelownaLake Country, B.C., to initiate parliamentary study of flight training in Canada. The motion was presented because of concerns by communities and their airports on the impact of a worldwide pilot shortage on regional air routes. According to the CAC, which represents more than 100 airports, including those operated privately by National Airports System (NAS) airports and many municipal airports, Canada faces a shortfall of about 3,000 pilots over the next seven years, with some regional air carriers finding it a challenge attract and retain qualified pilots. This pilot shortage has resulted in an increase in the cancellation of regional flights in some parts of Canada due to crew shortages, creating reliability concerns for travellers and communities that rely on these services. Demand for air travel in Canada is also booming, with five

per cent growth in traveller volumes over the first eight months of the year and even stronger growth of six to eight per cent in U.S. and overseas markets. According to CAC chair Sam Samaddar, who is also airport director at Kelowna International Airport, “Canada’s flight training schools, which are among the best in the world, are busy marketing their services but there are barriers to growing the student base and retaining more of these pilots here in Canada.” Of the 1,200 students at Canada’s flight schools about 40 per cent are foreign students who typically return to their countries of origin after their studies. According to the CAC,

making it easier for foreign students to stay and work in Canada would help alleviate the pilot shortage, as would providing more financial support to Canadians entering the expensive pathway to becoming a commercial pilot, which can cost from $75,000 to $150,000. Together, CAC members handle virtually all the nation’s air cargo and international passenger traffic and 95 per cent of domestic passenger traffic. CAC members provide 194,000 direct jobs, $19-billion to the Canada’s GDP and $48-billion in direct economic activity. They also provide municipal, provincial and federal governments $6.9-billion in tax revenues each year.

The holidays are a time for family and friends to come together and enjoy celebratory meals, though in many communities not everyone has the means for a special holiday dinner. As a community-focused organization, YVR, in partnership with Quest Food Exchange (Quest), hosts an annual Holiday Hamper Drive during which the airport community rallies together and donates full holiday meals for families in need. Since the Hamper Drive started in 2011, more than 4,000 meals have been donated to local families, with a record 1,057 hampers delivered to families in need last year. In addition to the Holiday Hamper Drive, Quest also has year-round programming as part of its mandate to reduce hunger with dignity, build community and foster sustainability. Quest partners with local wholesalers, supermarkets and farmers who donate their surplus food to the organization. Quest then sorts and distributes to those in need across the Lower Mainland. Quest’s five not-for-profit grocery locations had more than

240,000 visits in 2017 and its impact on the communities it serves continues to grow each year. The holiday season is all about giving and you, too, can participate by filling a hamper with all the ingredients for a holiday meal and bringing it to The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: The Jade Canoe at YVR on Thursday, December 6 between 10am and 3pm. Once there, stay and enjoy music and fun as YVR seeks to collect more than 1,000 hampers again. Each hamper should be filled with the ingredients below: • 2 boxes of instant mashed potatoes • 2 boxes of stuffing mix • 2 cans of vegetables • 1 can of cranberry sauce • 2 packets of instant gravy • 2 cans of fruit • 2 cans of soup • 1 box of crackers • 1 package of cookies • 1 box of chocolates Each hamper donated will be completed with a turkey donated by Vancouver Airport Authority. Air Transat partners with easyJet for connections in Europe

Air Transat has partnered with British low-cost carrier easyJet and its Worldwide by easyJet connections service web platform. Air Transat and easyJet flights can now be booked through one platform, simplifying the travel process and increasing the number of destinations available in Europe and Africa to Air Transat’s customers flying through London Gatwick Airport. “London Gatwick has been a European mainstay for Air Transat for 30 years, with daily direct flights from Toronto as well as departures from major Canadian cities such as Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal. Moreover, it serves as one of easyJet’s main airports,” said Annick Guérard, chief operating officer at Transat. “This agreement reinforces the importance of London Gatwick for Air Transat, which was named the 2018 World’s Best Leisure Airline. It makes us even more versatile, as we open up a range of new destinations in Europe and North Africa to our clientele.” Passengers transiting through London Gatwick who book a flight through the Worldwide by easyJet platform will have access to a wide range of flight options to Canada, in addition to those in Europe and Africa. The minimum connection time is two hours and thirty minutes. Additionally, passengers benefit from GatwickConnects, a service offered by London Gatwick Airport, which offers flight protection between Air Transat and easyJet and simplifies baggage handling. Passengers can check in their bags at the GatwickConnects counter located in the baggage reclaim area and pick up their boarding pass for their next flight. Air Transat is not the only Canadian carrier to work with Worldwide by easyJet. In September 2017, easyJet announced WestJet as the launch partner for the connections service.

Air Canada plans increased frequency to popular destinations in 2019 Air Canada has announced four new changes to its YVR network of weekly flights. All route changes are timed to optimize connectivity to and from the airline’s extensive network across North America. Beginning on June 2, 2019, Air Canada will be increasing its Vancouver service to India’s capital city Delhi to daily, yearround flights. The airline will also be increasing its non-stop service to Melbourne, Australia to four times weekly, year-round. All Australia flights are timed to connect to and from Adelaide, Canberra, Perth and to Tasmania with codeshare partner Virgin Australia. Seasonal services will also see new changes. Dreamliner lives up to its hype By Joan Stewart

Air Canada Dreamliner is loaded in preparation for departure from YVR to London Heathrow.

Switzerland will increase to five flights a week. These flights will connect to and from destinations in Europe and Africa. Seasonal service to Osaka, Japan will also increase to five times weekly from June-October 2019. All flights will be operated by Air Canada’s state-of-the-art

Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The expansion of Air Canada’s services to Vancouver marks another important step in the growth of YVR’s biggest carrier. In 2017, Air Canada grew by 8.9 per cent at YVR, bringing an additional 956,000 passengers through Vancouver. Since

then, the airline has launched five new international destinations and four new U.S. destinations at YVR: Paris, Frankfurt, Melbourne, Taipei, Zurich, Boston, Denver, Dallas and Sacramento. For more information on Air Canada’s flights from YVR, visit aircanada.ca.

Most travellers book flights based on price, closest airport to their destination, flight schedule and baggage allowance, with few considering booking their ticket based on the type of aircraft being flown. However, a recent flight from YVR to London Heathrow on Air Canada’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner has convinced me to include aircraft-type as part of my future flight booking consideration. Since I have flown on this route several times over the past 25 years, disembarking from several different aircraft with mixed levels of comfort, I was initially skeptical that the Dreamliner would live up to its hype. Not only did it live up to the hype, it provided a truly gamechanging flight experience on this nine-hour, nonstop flight. Hyperbole notwithstanding, following are some of the noticeable practical benefits of flying on the Dreamliner: • Lower cabin pressure at a more natural level that allows for higher humidity levels. This helps to eradicate the negative effects of air pressure typically found on aircraft—runny nose, dry throat, swelling, headaches and other flu-like symptoms. • Cleaner air circulating continuously through an advanced gaseous filtration system that removes odors, allergens, bacteria and viruses from the cabin.

• Windows that are 30 per cent larger, with electronic, selfdimming glass that allows the passenger to control the tint without having to pull down the blind. • A quieter, smoother flight. The Dreamliner can fly much higher than older aircraft and the higher the altitude, the less turbulence. When turbulence was encountered on this flight, the result was a slight ripple rather than a bumpy experience. • A more spacious interior cabin design featuring larger overhead bins and a higher ceiling that eliminates feelings of claustrophobia when standing. • Washrooms with motionactivated taps and flush, a self-closing seat with tabs to make opening it easier. In addition to passenger comfort, the Dreamliner is the world’s first major airliner to use composite materials in the construction of its airframe. This allows for significant fuel efficiencies, a more economical long flying range and an enhanced passenger experience with less impact on the environment. Air Canada offers three cabins of service on its Dreamliner flights departing from YVR to London Heathrow, Zurich, Paris, Delhi and Melbourne. For more information on flights, visit aircanada.com.

The cabin altitude onboard the Dreamliner is set at a level of 609 metres lower than other aircraft.

Cannabis is now legal in Canada: Tips for travel and possession On October 17, the lawful sale and consumption of cannabis for recreational use was adopted in Canada. In B.C., this means that people 19 and over can now legally carry up to 30 grams of recreational cannabis and can travel with it domestically within Canada, though laws may vary by province and territory. It is the responsibility of those passing through YVR to understand and adhere to all applicable local, provincial, federal and international regulations regarding the carriage and possession of cannabis. Here are the four key points that passengers should keep in mind: • Crossing international borders with cannabis is illegal: If you are travelling inter-

nationally, including to the U.S., it is illegal to cross the border with cannabis. It doesn’t matter whether you’re leaving or entering Canada, or what the laws of your destination are. Keep in mind that YVR is also a pre-clearance airport, which means that on most U.S. flights once you clear customs, you are in the U.S. even before boarding your flight. • If travelling with cannabis in Canada, be aware that laws may vary by province and territory: While it is legal for adults to travel in Canada with cannabis, laws may differ where you travel. This includes legal age, where you can smoke or vape, consume and buy cannabis.

• Cannabis smoking and vaping is permitted at YVR in designated areas only: If you wish to consume cannabis at YVR, smoking and vaping is permitted outside the terminal building in clearly marked areas. YVR continues to provide a smoke- and vape-free environment inside the airport. • It is your responsibility to know the cannabis laws wherever you travel: YVR emphasizes that it is the responsibility of those passing through YVR to understand and adhere to all applicable local, provincial, federal and international regulations regarding the carriage and possession of cannabis. Cargo traffic to double in 20 years, according to Boeing Boeing projects air cargo operators will need more than 2,600 freighters over the next two decades to keep up with increasing global freight traffic, which is expected to double with 4.2 per cent growth annually. According to the new World Air Cargo Forecast, released by Boeing at a recent International Air Cargo Association’s Air Cargo Forum and Exhibition, 980 new medium and large freighters and 1,670 converted freighters will go toward replacing older airplanes and growing the global fleet to meet demand. Some of the factors driving the growth in air cargo include a growing express market in China and the global rise of e-commerce, which is forecast to increase 20 per cent annually to nearly $5-trillion in 2021, according to Boeing’s analysis.

To meet growing market needs, Boeing also forecasts: • The world freighter fleet will expand by more than 70 per cent, from the current total of 1,870 to 3,260 airplanes. • Boeing projects new production freighter deliveries valued at $280-billion. • Demand for regional express services in fast-developing economies will boost the standard-body share of the freighter fleet from 37 per cent today to 39 per cent. • 1,170 standard body and 500 medium wide-body passenger airplanes will be converted into freighters over the next two decades. • Dedicated freighters, which provide unique capability that passenger belly-cargo cannot match, will continue to carry more than 50 per cent of the

es, which is especially useful for passengers requiring additional assistance.

London Heathrow Airport plans industry’s largest endto-end biometrics roll out London Heathrow, the world’s most-connected airport, has announced plans for a fullscale roll out of new biometrics services from summer 2019. The technology will streamline the passenger journey through Heathrow from check-in to take-off and is expected to reduce the average passenger’s journey time through the airport by up to a third. The biometric solution uses facial recognition technology at check-in, bag drops, security lanes and boarding gates to create a seamless experience for passengers travelling through the airport. The £50 million project is part of a wider programme of investment to streamline passenger journeys and once complete will mean that Heathrow will have the world’s largest deployment of biometric products in an airport. The long-term aim of the technology will be for passengers to be able to walk through the airport without breaking their stride. Passengers have already been trialling new services in live operation throughout 2018 and feedback has been positive. Heathrow has already begun using biometric e-gates in some stages of the passenger journey, including on entry to the UK at the border. The technology is also used for domestic journeys through the airport, but this will be the first time that Heathrow will use the technology at every stage of the departing passenger’s journey. The project also has the potential to allow for greater personalisation of passenger servic-

Last month, 50 WestJetters immersed themselves within the local community of La Union in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to take part in the eighth WestJet Live Different Builds. Over the course of nine days on this year’s annual humanitarian trip, WestJetters were able to build new homes for five families living in extreme poverty. Since WestJet’s first humanitarian trip in April 2012, more than 400 WestJetters have volunteered their time to build 38 new homes for deserving families. WestJetters’ extra fundraising efforts have also contributed to many significant community enhancement projects. This year, WestJetter participants raised more than $17,000 of extra funds that, when topped up to $22,000 by WestJet, were used to create engineer-designed paved pathways throughout La Union, improving walkability, water dispersion and the overall health and safety of the community. In 2012, WestJet partnered with Canadian-based charity Live Different to make international community investment possible in one of its most popular Caribbean destinations.

Fifty WestJetters volunteered their time and energy to take part in WestJet’s annual humanitarian trip to assist an international community project.

Since 2012, WestJet has partnered with the Live Different Canadian charity to build homes for deserving families.

Through all eight Live Different Builds, WestJet has been able to bring its caring culture to some of the most impoverished communities in the Dominican Republic. The Live Different Builds team is WestJet’s on-the-ground charitable partner in the Puerto Plata area. They liaise with the local community to ensure the work addresses their needs and is

The City of Richmond has been designated as one of the world’s first Global Active Cities. The Global Active City Standard was created with input from more than 70 experts in health, sport and social sciences; legacy and sustainability; tourism; and urban planning and management. The designation honours cities that have worked hard to offer all their residents the opportunity to have active and healthy lifestyles and improve their well-being. To receive the Global Active City label, a city must pass an independent audit with a stringent review of its available physical activities, sports strategies and working practices. Richmond joins Buenos Aires, Argentina; Hamburg, Germany; Lillehammer, Norway; Liverpool, UK; and Ljubljana, Slovenia as the first cities to receive the new designation. Each of these cities have embraced a management model that motivates people at risk of inactivity-related illnesses to take up regular physical activity and sport. Regular physical activity can con-

tribute to reducing the risk of several non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cardiovascular diseases, cancers, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases, as well as several mental disorders. The Active Well-being Initiative (AWI), an international NGO responsible for the Global Active City label, works with city leaders to help them provide projects and services that engage residents who have or are likely to develop these NCDs. The Active Well-being Initiative recommends that cities that want their populations to be more active should start by identifying key stakeholders and available resources and partner with local universities to find out how to reach those groups who are least engaged and most at risk from inactivity. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that adults do a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate activity each week, and children aged five to 17 an hour each day. Headlights then and now

Auto Repair and Maintenance By Bernie Pawlik

For many years, sealed beam headlights were round, but in later years rectangular became the shape of choice. As headlight technology

evolved they became brighter, especially with the introduction of halogen bulb technology. It is always interesting to see the evolution of automotive com-

ponents and in the case of headlights, the waste and the complex replacement procedure that is sometimes required for a sealed beam system is not missed.

Get Ready for Fall / Winter Driving‎ Call now for your appointment.

Compare the size of the new bulbs (left) to the old sealed beam unit. This is a prime example of better efficiencies and less waste.

Recently, two 1990’s vintage vehicles with burned out sealed beam headlights were serviced at our automotive shop and it occurred to me that this is yet another bit of technology that has almost disappeared.

Most modern cars have a moulded headlamp assembly with small replaceable bulbs, but this was not always the case. Sealed beam headlights debuted on cars in the 1940s. The headlamp assembly consists of an

enclosure with a bulb in front of a lens, completely made of glass. The entire unit is sealed and none of the parts can be replaced separately. If the headlight stops functioning or breaks, the entire sealed beam light must be replaced.

Airbag system repair and diagnosis A 2003 Mazda Tribute (which incidentally is the same as a Ford Escape) was recently brought to our shop for diagnosis and repair of its airbag lamp. The driver’s concern was that it remained on. While performing our diagnosis, we found that there were two trouble codes stored in the airbag’s computer, indicating service was needed in certain areas of the airbag. The first was the light issue, which was solved by removing the instrument panel and replacing a dead bulb—this solved one of the trouble codes. We now focused on the other code, which indicated a problem with the passenger’s side airbag. The diagnostic procedure required a test to the side airbag module’s wiring and connections, using a scan tool. The maximum resistance allowed in this circuit is 3.4 ohms and our scan tool data readings were 3.2 ohms: very close to the maximum. Interestingly, the driver’s side had the same reading. The problem was either an intermittent one caused by a connector or component. Airbag systems are very sensitive to poor connections and these are common causes of airbag lights remaining in the on position. We applied a liquid contact Solution for November 2018 Crossword.

enhancer that creates a “goodas-soldered” connection to the terminals at the side airbag connector. The resulting reading on our scan tool said it all: resistance was now 2.2 ohms, very safely below maximum specifications. We also applied the liquid to

the driver’s side, receiving the same results from the scan tool reading. This will likely prevent a future connection problem that would cause another airbag light concern. Sometimes the repair is simple, but the diagnosis is much harder.
