Every year, the Vancouver Airport Authority recognizes exceptional Sea Island businesses for their commitment, enthusiasm and innovation in improving the environment through its annual YVR Green Excellence Award program. Over the years, Green Excellence Awards have been given to YVR tenants in recognition of their demonstrated environmental stewardship in areas that range from reducing carbon emissions and waste, improvements to water efficiency and contributing to ecosystem health. The recipients of the 2020 YVR Green Excellence Awards: Air Canada, Fairmont Vancouver Airport, Harbour Air Seaplanes, Hellmann World wide Logistics, and SkyTeam VIP Lounge, contributed to the reduction of their carbon footprint in diverse ways. The airline also reduced its use of disposable items, such as bags, coffee cups and plastic utensils and expanded its commercial recycling program, which diverts waste from going to landfill.
