TAKE AN ALTERNATIVE BREAK Alternative Break is a national program where colleges and universities organize local and out-of-state trips for students who want to travel during their fall or spring breaks. Alternative Breaks challenge students to learn about social issues, such as poverty and homelessness, and empower them to personally make a difference through volunteering. Past participants have traveled to 12 states, including New York, Hawaii, Colorado and Washington.
