ALVARO MARTINEZ

is a first-generation student, former SLCC Student Body President and a proud Latino immigrant. He’s a selfdescribed “futurist” who is fascinated with what tomorrow holds and chose SLCC for the opportunity to attend college debt-free. He graduated from SLCC and is majoring in business at the University of Utah. He plans to continue advocating for SLCC and its students.

TRIO PROGRAMS TRIO Programs provide free support for eligible students’ educational, personal and professional goals. To participate, students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, meet federal low-income guidelines and/or be first-generation college students, and plan to transfer from SLCC to a four-year school. Students with disabilities are welcome.

DREAM CENTER The Dream Center works holistically with undocumented students and members of mixed-status families, helping them to access and apply for educational resources and navigate institutional policies. The Dream Center is located at the West Valley Center Room 130. OFFICE OF DIVERSITY AND MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs (ODMA) advocates fearlessly for students of color and students with refugee experiences by celebrating diversity and elevating college access. You can visit the ODMA at Taylorsville Redwood Student Center Room 236 for success coaching, cultural programming, multicultural group advising, or to study and relax with friends.
