We are so fortunate to call the Vail Valley home and believe that it is integral that we support our community by giving back. Over the past 10 years, we have given over $1.5 million back through our donations. We would like to highlight some of the organizations that do an incredible job making our area the very best place to live.

THE CYCLE EFFECT The Cycle Effect is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of young women through mountain biking and to empower then through mentoring and education. In its first year, 2013, The Cycle Effect served 40 girls offering more than 700 service days, participated in 5 community service projects as a team, and helped 100% of the participants set goals to graduate from high school and go on to college. With an attendance rate above 90%, there were improvements in metrics recorded such as motivation, mood, stress, overall health, etc. As a bonus, seven athletes won a Colorado HS MTB State Championship.

After massive cuts in public education funding in the fall of 2011 in Eagle County, many concerned and passionate community members came together to create a solution. The purpose of the Education Foundation of Eagle is to make specific and targeted recommendations to, and to work in conjunction with the Eagle County School District with the goal of maintaining an excellent learning experience for students in our community.

Habitat for Humanity builds homes, communities and hope. Through construction of simple, decent homes, Habitat creates affordable homeownership opportunities for lower income families. Each family contributes hundreds of hours of “sweat equity” toward construction alongside many other volunteers and community groups. Through generous donations of time, materials and financial contributions, Habitat is able to keep the price of these homes affordable for these hard-working, local families.

Walking Mountains’ mission is to awaken a sense of wonder and inspire environmental stewardship through natural science education. Getting students outdoors is vital to Walking Mountains’ mission joined with our core focus of teaching science. Walking Mountains has a 15year history of developing and delivering award-winning field science programs with grade-specific science curricula that align with district and state standards. Our innovative method of hands-on instruction incorporates critical thinking and collaboration with other students – it cannot be replicated in the traditional classroom. Over 3,000 Eagle County students in all grades participate in field science programs each school year.

The goal of this fantastic local charitable foundation is to provide swift financial assistance to Eagle County residents for living and personal expenses during times of crisis or hardship. This is a 100% volunteer organization and 100% of money raised goes directly back to locals in need. Members of the Swift Eagle Charitable Foundation cherish friendship and share a love for the valley in which we all live.

Founded in Vail in 1993, SOS Outreach is celebrating its twentieth anniversary of inspiring youth to make positive decisions for healthy and successful lives. Since the organization’s founding, 36,000 underserved youth have completed over 150,000 program days, and 5,000 nationally will benefit this year. Operating as an out of school program, SOS engages participants with the popular appeal of outdoor adventure sports to achieve systemic change through a core-value, leadership development curriculum. Few other programs serving underserved youth combine the risk prevention, outdoor recreation, service learning, and positive adult interaction that SOS does.
