This Project is about analysing and understanding the character of Andare and arriving at a concept and representing it through design
In the days of the Sinhala kings having a royal jester at the Court was a tradition. The job of this royal jester was to keep everyone at the court including king and queen, members of the royal family, courtiers and others entertained and make them laugh. Apart from this they also played tricks on those at the court. Among the royal jesters Sri Lankan kings had, the most famous and well-known jester was Andare, who is a living legend among Sri Lankans even today And some suggests that Andare was an imaginary character created by intellects who geared at pointing out the lack of intelligence and vanity of society through the stories
As history suggests, Andare (28) was a clever court jester who lived during the 18th century during the reigns of Kings Kirthi Sri Rajasinhe and Rajadhi Rajasinhe of the Kandyan Kingdom. He is believed to have been born in Udamalala, in Southern Sri Lanka It is said that he was first employed as the court jester by the King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe (1742-1782) of Kandyan kingdom in Sri Lanka And he has served in king Rajadhi Rajasinhe's court as well. There are many Sinhala tales and folk lore which reflects his character and life story.
It is said that Andare's humorous acts and sarcastic comments entertained both royals and commoners alike. Most of the stories, have a comical ending with Andare getting the better of villagers and even the King, who at times tried to get the better of Andare but failed People took no offence for his light-hearted humour, for ultimately the situation became very amusing
Despite being a mere comedian, the tales on Andare suggest the superior intellect he had which aided him in turning situations to his favour. He was a person with many talents. One of them was poetry. Stories suggest that he could instantly compose verses, to suit any situation Another story suggests that he was also a skilled archer And he had received the tittle "sadda vidda palanga pathira", from the king for shooting down a frog croaking in a pond at night following the sound it makes. Sri Lankans love him and for many generations enjoyed stories about him. It is said that even in death Andare amused people as a corpse with his arms stretched open as a cross.
After studying the character and qualities of Andare, a 2D representative Wall Plaque and a 3D representative object were created.

PROJECT SUMMARY
The ability for a human to function in this world depends on the size and measurements of the human body itself in relation to its surrounding environment. Therefore, when designing the built environment or objects for human use, it is essential to take into consideration the measurements of the human body or body parts concerned Planning and designing spaces and objects that can be accessed and manipulated by human beings without difficulty makes up for a healthy and fulfilling life experience, and as designers and manipulators of space, architects need to possess a good understanding of how a space functions compared to the human body and its movements.
Anthropometrics: The study of the measurement of human body, its proportions and movements. It is also concerned with parameters such as reach and visual range capabilities. Simple measurements as weight, stature, length, breadth and depth of stationary human beings is referred to as Static or Structural Anthropometry and compound measurements of moving human beings as reach and angular variants of different joints are known as Dynamic or Functional Anthropometry.
Ergonomics: The relationship of the human body, its proportions and movements to the surrounding environment Ergonomics are important in terms of designing spaces and objects that can be used efficiently and safely by the user.
By the project, my room was re-designed according to my Anthropometrics & Ergonomics and my likes and dislikes

PROJECT SUMMARY
Camping is a recreational outdoor activity which involves overnight stays away from home in a shelter This recreational activity dates back to 1880’s and said to be popularized in UK on the river Thames. Later it evolves to many areas and presentday camping may be combined with hiking as in back-packing and is in conjunction with outdoor activities such as canoeing, climbing, fishing, and hunting. To be regarded as "camping" a minimum of one night spent outdoors is required and this involves in getting the meals prepared for overnight stay at the camping site
This project is about designing a portable camping kitchen which will enable to prepare a meal for two persons, who are camping partners. The other person is responsible for providing shelter and drinking water and will carry the camping gear and water for both people I have the responsibility of cooking one meal for both people. The camp is at a place away from human settlements and shops and we have to walk about three hours to reach to a village. A water source will be available for our portable use. We will be camping there for one night and I need to prepare a simple meal for ourselves. The meal will consist of Rice, Dhal curry and Tempered canned fish I need to carry the essentials need to prepare the above menu, including the utensils which need to prepare the meal and serve it to two persons. So the task is designing a portable camping kitchen, which I can carry for one night camping at a remote area.
Being Eco-Friendly is my concept and was inspired by a butterfly Chrysalis I did a research about food preparation methods and requirements related to camping, how should I carry them and how to design them according to my Anthropometrics and ergonomics. Then I designed the Portable Camping kitchen to accommodate.

A Studio & Bedsitter for an Artist
PROJECT SUMMARY
Location- Palawatta ,Baththaramulla
Client- Mr Ishara Lakshitha Perera Concept – Feelings Inspiration- Moon
An artist is a creative person who spends time to express their creativity through different media. Some through Painting, some through dance and others through other different art forms using non-conventional media such as metal, glass, clay and visual technology. Regardless of the medium they use, every artist seeks to express their ideas, ideals and emotions in a creative manner. In this day and age, advances in science and technology has opened a broader range of artistic media for creative individuals, ranging from digital media, interactive art installations as well as the peculiar niche of street art, graffiti, and art created using industrial by products.
Creative people have unique characters and individual ways in which they feel comfortable in doing what they do, and in this regard, they highly value their private workspace. So often it is a private place for them to reflect, find sanctuary and carry out their creative work – sometimes novel projects of experimental nature. It not only needs to have the right atmosphere but also be practical enough to be able to carry out the Artist’s work while catering to the basic human needs of space.
I selected the artist who is a musician. First I met him and discussed his requirements, preferences, the nature of the activities and I silently explored his life style. Then I understood the nature and character of the Artist and his personality; his way of living, ideals, thinking, and working habits. Then I created a list of the space requirements and researched a creative Art practiced and understood their process. Later I selected a suitable site located in Palawatta, which has great views and I analysed the Artist, the artistic process as well as the site. In the design part, first I built a suitable concept for the project with the key spaces and developed the project according to the client's needs. I didn't forget to maintain a Sketch journal of design idea and Development to show the progress.

A house is building where people live in and conduct their private lives. It is a place to dwell, and to feel at home. The architecture and expression of what a house is has changed dramatically with time, and will also change based on the owner, site, and climate. The culture of the society and social strata will also have a profound effect on how a house is arranged in terms of space.
Therefore, it is essential to understand for whom you are designing for, where it will be located and how the client perceives a house and the activities that will take place in it. The architect also will have to consider how each client perceives their own household – for some it will be the centre of their existence and own personal haven, and for others it will be mostly the space where they wind down from the worldly duties for rest and respite. An understanding of your client’s point of view and their attitude towards life and family is therefore crucial for formulating their actual requirements of the house.
So I had to design a house for Mrs. Manomi perera, in selected area which is located in Baththramulla, Thalangama , Sri Lanka. The project goes my beyond the limits of my design process. My client has an extrovert personality with selected people and she likes to make memories with them. And she likes to travel . But inside this character there is a hidden character that has some dark memories of her life so in that case she is doing meditation to keep her mental health So according to her character I had to design a house that fit to her extrovert personality and also match to her meditation side. And I also I had to think about her husband, because home is the place where both of them live.
In the design part, first I built a suitable concept for the project with the key spaces and developed the project according to the client's needs. I didn't forget to maintain a Sketch journal of design idea and Development to show the progress.
