Minutes make the difference between life and death. CellAED® is designed to save lives from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) by making a personal defibrillator that is affordable, accessible, effective, and easy-to-use in the event of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).
SCA is a medical emergency that occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating effectively, preventing blood from being pumped around the body. It can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Within seconds, a person in SCA will collapse, become unresponsive, and stop breathing normally. The time critical steps in the treatment of SCA include calling emergency services, starting CPR, and retrieving a defibrillator. For each minute CPR and defibrillation are delayed, the chances of survival decrease by 10 percent. Every minute counts.
CellAED® is designed to empower someone to be prepared to help save a life of someone they care about in the event of witnessing a sudden cardiac arrest.

With less than seven percent of Aussies on a healthy diet it’s clear that the nation’s dietary habits are in need of an overhaul yet recent surveys show that it’s easier said than done as Aussies are left to navigate weight-loss and dieting on their own.
According to a survey of over 1000 respondents commissioned by sustainable nutrition platform Equalution, binge eating and bad habits persist due to a lack of food literacy and very little social support for healthy habits.
While 63 percent of Australians have experimented with some kind of diet in the past 12 months, many encounter serious barriers to improving their diet. A third of Australians saying they struggle to find affordable and healthy food options.
Meanwhile one in four Australians found it difficult to find the time to prepare healthy meals. This is particularly true for one in three men.
One in five Australians said it was especially challenging for them to balance healthy eating with social events.
Men binge eat more frequently than women - two in five Aussie males will binge eat a few times a week compared to a third of women who binge eat every couple of months. One in three men believe binge eating is a barrier to getting healthier.
Alcohol consumption sabotages men’s healthy eating. Twice as many men than women (20 percent) say drinking is the biggest barrier to achieving their personal health goals.
Not understanding their own nutritional needs holds women back from their health goals. One in four Aussie women felt they didn’t know how to best fuel their body.
A quarter of women also said they found it hard to resist unhealthy food cravings; up to 36 percent of women said they grappled with binge eating.
Equalution’s internal data shows 45 percent of dieters struggled with sticking to their nutritional needs, specifically late night snacking, boredom eating, stress eating, and binge eating.
The same data reveals 23 percent didn’t know how to structure their diet.
Equalution founder and CEO Amal Wakim says the survey findings demonstrate the pervasive lack of guidance on how to approach diet and healthy eating in Australia.
“As obesity levels soar, Australians are trying really hard to take responsibility for their health but they are confused about how to make long term sustainable changes,” she says.
Amal points out survey findings that show one in 10 Australians have tried a ‘juice cleanse’. At the same time only a quarter of Australians have sought professional diet advice while one third of Aussies got diet advice from social media.
Family and friends were another source of guidance for Aussies embarking on a health kick. Yet a clear knowledge gap remains as 55 percent of female survey respondents answered two-five servings is the ideal amount of fruit and vegetables to eat per day, while 40 percent of men thought they should have only one-two servings a day. Current health guidelines recommend at least five servings is ideal.
A further one in five women said they didn’t bother reading nutritional labels while almost one in five men said they didn’t understand them.
Internal data released by Equalution shows that fat loss is a primary goal for 94 percent of its respondents, the majority of whom are female. The 7000+ respondents said they were motivated to fix their diet because they wanted to feel more confident, wanted their clothes to fit better, and wanted to improve their mood and energy.
“To fix the diet crisis, we need to proactively teach food literacy to all Australians. As it stands the vicious cycle of diet, hunger, and deprivation by cutting out entire food groups is setting Aussies up to fail,” Amal says.
“A better approach would be to embrace the 80 percent whole food, 20 percent soul food rule. We need to be kind to our bodies and learn to properly nourish them. Food is a joy and a pleasure, overcoming these barriers is all about increasing our scientific knowledge of what works and what doesn’t.”

In the world of aesthetic medicine, there is a new player in the field - a groundbreaking technology that is true regenerative medicine. It is revolutionising the way we approach skin health and ageing: Exosomes. These tiny, powerful vesicles derived from adipose (fat) tissue hold the key to unlocking our skin’s natural rejuvenating potential, acting as text messages directly to our skin cells to prompt regeneration and renewal. It is important to understand that these molecular messengers are not cells and do not contain DNA. Their crucial role is in orchestrating cellular communication and signals to instruct our skin cells to behave younger and more optimally, just like they did when we were young. The Exomide brand of exosomes used at Pause Mediclinic contains five billion exosomes combined with six different growth factors, 17 amino acids, six peptides, eight different types of hyaluronic acid, and skin-lightening and brightening ingredients of glutathione and niacinamide. This combination has been clinically proven to reduce:
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Pigmentation and age spots
• Oil production and the appearance of pore size
• Improve skin texture
• Repair the skin barrier
• Stimulate collagen and elastin production
• Improve tone, quality, and clarity of the skin
One of the most remarkable aspects of exosomes is their ability to stimulate collagen and elastin to maintain skin firmness, elasticity, and resilience. By delivering these crucial building blocks directly to the skin cells, exosomes help to turn back the clock on ageing.
Extending beyond anti-ageing, exosomes possess the remarkable regenerative properties to address a wide range of skin concerns such as:
• Acne
• Vitiligo
• Hyperpigmentation and Melasma
• Scarring
• Wound healing
Furthermore, exosomes have been clinically proven to aid in hair restoration by combating hair loss and thinning. The Exomide Scalp treatment includes 10 billion exosomes, the same growth factors, amino acids, and peptides as the skin but with added Chinese herbs to:
• Restore and strengthen hair follicles
• Improve scalp health
• Stimulate hair growth
• Increase hair density and thickness
Simple and easy to administer, exosomes can be used on their own or in addition to treatments such as skin needling, Tixel, or laser to increase delivery into the skin, reduce downtime, and further enhance device-generated results.
We do not introduce new services to Pause until we have tried, tested, and trusted in them. This has been a 12-month process including a personal consultation in America!
Originating from South Korea, new to the Australian world of aesthetics; exosomes provide a way to achieve radiant, healthy, youthful skin, by programming the function of our skin cells. An absolute must for those seeking the most natural-looking , healthy skin.
Are you ready to experience the magic of exosomes for yourself? The text messages are ready to be sent! Book a consultation to embark on your journey towards more radiant, healthy, youthful skin from within.
We would love to share this mind-blowing new technology with you!

AFTER YEARS OF DEBILITATING PAIN AND FAILED WEIGHT-LOSS ATTEMPTS, YASMIN RITCHIE FOUND HOPE AND HEALING THROUGH LIFE-CHANGING DUAL SURGERY. DISCOVER HOW HER JOURNEY TO OVERCOME A HIATUS HERNIA AND ACHIEVE SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT-LOSS, THANKS TO THE CARE OF HER SURGEON, HAS TRANSFORMED HER LIFE.
For years, Yasmin Ritchie endured excruciating pain beneath her breasts due to a mysterious discomfort that went undiagnosed. Despite numerous tests and consultations, the cause of her suffering remained a mystery.
Frequently visiting the emergency department due to unbearable pain and persistent reflux, Yasmin had nearly lost hope. After relocating from the Northern Territory to the Gold Coast, another episode of acute pain brought her to the emergency department at Gold Coast University Hospital.
After an endoscopy, it was found that Yasmin had a hiatus hernia, a condition where part of the stomach pushes up into the chest cavity through the diaphragm. The surgeon recommended this be repaired, although it was still undetermined whether the procedure would alleviate her pain.
While this diagnosis provided some relief, it was not just the hernia and pain causing her distress. Yasmin, now 48, had also been struggling with weight gain, exacerbated by hormonal changes following a hysterectomy. Despite trying various diets and even unconventional remedies, she was unable to lose weight.
Yasmin researched her options and found that hiatus hernia repair could be combined with a bariatric procedure. After consulting with a bariatric surgeon, a sleeve gastrectomy emerged as a viable option.
“I didn’t want to put all my hopes into the thought that the surgery was going to fix me. It was more, ‘ok, I have a hiatus hernia and I need to get rid of it.’ That was the focus,” Yasmin said.
“When I was doing my research, I read that I could have the sleeve gastrectomy done at the same time and my surgeon made sure I was 100 percent sure that it was the path I wanted to go down.
“I explained that I had tried everything to lose the weight - the Keto diet, Mediterranean diet, you name it I tried it - even to the point where I was seeing things on Facebook that said taking a shot of apple cider vinegar every morning would help you drop pounds. I tried everything and if anything, I was putting on weight.”
Yasmin underwent a thorough evaluation, including BMI calculation and blood tests, to assess her suitability for the combined procedures. After discussing the pros, cons, and potential risks with her surgeon and husband, Yasmin felt confident in her decision to proceed.
“I took all the information back to my hubby and at first, he was like, ‘No!’ But the pain I was going through for a good four years was unbearable. I looked at my hubby and said, ‘I’ve had enough.’ It’s not about the weight, it’s about the pain and it hurts a lot,” she said.
On the day of her surgery, Yasmin was prepared both physically and emotionally. The procedure, performed in October last year, involved repairing the hiatus hernia and performing the sleeve gastrectomy, which reduced her stomach size, facilitating weight-loss.
Post-surgery, Yasmin faced some challenges that she describes more as discomfort than pain. However, the supportive care from her surgeon, dietitian, and the entire team made a significant difference.
“Following the surgery, while I was consuming only liquids, it was still uncomfortable. But after my first follow-up, my surgeon explained the whole procedure and then gave me tips, like just eat slowly because you’re smaller than normal,” Yasmin said.
“The care and explanation he gave when I was struggling was so helpful and I’m very grateful.”
Yasmin’s transformation has been remarkable. From weighing 93 kilograms before surgery, she now stands at 67.2 kilograms. More importantly, the pain that plagued her for years is gone.
“My husband is loving that I am not in pain like I was, and he sees the new me. He has got his wife back and he is happy because I am happy. He is very supportive and I love him dearly for that.”
Yasmin’s journey highlights the importance of thorough research and finding a supportive medical team when considering surgery. Her advice to others facing similar decisions is clear.
“Do your research on both the procedure and the surgeon. The guidance and support I received were invaluable.”
GOLD COAST FOR A NO-OBLIGATION CONSULTATION.
ALL YOU HAVE TO LOSE IS THE WEIGHT.
Some people with a gastric band or sleeve gastrectomy have insufficient weight-loss or problematic issues limiting their quality of life. Conversion to a gastric bypass in these patients provides immediate relief and helps with further weight-loss. If your banding or sleeve procedure has left you unsatisfied; we can help.

THE FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN AND WHY WOULD WE DO SUCH A THING?
For the past 20 years, I’ve been Suzy Wilson, a colon therapist. To those I’ve helped with their digestive concerns, I’m often referred to affectionately as their ‘Poo Doctor’. For others, I am a counsellor and healer, supporting their healing journey by shifting deep cellular trauma.
Colonic Hydrotherapy (irrigation) is still a therapy that many are unaware of, and those that are aware, many have heard rumours about the perceived dangers. Often being confused with colonoscopies, enemas, or open system colonics.
It may be surprising to know that ‘colonics’ in some form has been around since the beginning of time. Referenced in Egyptian teachings and the Bible. In those times, cleansing was seen as a way for spiritual alignment. For the past 100 years, it has been used as a therapy to clean the large colon of faecal matter, with is much needed in our current climate of processed dense foods and toxicity induced by chemicals and stress.
With my introduction to colonics some 20 or more years ago, I discovered the severity of my lifelong chronic constipation, which left me often in a state of not being able to move, along with depression, anxiety, and early menopause at 38. I was presented with medications and HRT. Stumbling into colonics changed this just about overnight. It led me on a path to discover more, which I continue to this day.
This journey has allowed me to develop a colonic technique that integrates ancient cleansing teachings with modern detox principles, addressing our bodies’ needs for hydration and inflammation reduction. Building on my teachings, the Rojas technique used at Bottoms Up, emphasises a holistic approach where every system and cell in the body benefits from
enhanced cellular hydration, promoting healing from within.
But how?
The biggest statement I hear from people about this therapy is the fear they have about someone seeing their bottom, what is put into their bottom, and what comes out of their bottom. After all, this part of our daily life is typically a very private affair.
So just to dispel a few myths:
• We do see your bottom just for 2 seconds.
• What we put into your bottom is a lot smaller than any poop you do.
• What comes out of your body (this is not poop) to us shows us how well you digest your food, what yeasts or parasites you may have, how well your liver is functioning, and so much more.
• We don’t perforate the bowel.
• We don’t take all of your good bacteria.
• We don’t make your bowel lazy.
The sessions are discreet, professional and in fact calming. While on our first meeting we take all of your health history then ongoing appointments are for 1 hr.
Don’t be shy, instead put your health first, be excited about living a long and vibrant life. Can’t wait to see you in the clinic (locations Australia wide).

WEIGHT-LOSS SURGERY CAN BENEFIT WOMEN STRUGGLING WITH OBESITY WHO ARE CONSIDERING PREGNANCY. FROM REDUCING COMPLICATIONS TO PROMOTING HEALTHIER FUTURE GENERATIONS, BARIATRIC SURGERY NOT ONLY MINIMISES PREGNANCY RISKS BUT ALSO FOSTERS HEALTHIER OUTCOMES FOR BOTH MOTHERS AND THEIR CHILDREN.
Being overweight or obese can lead to health concerns that significantly impact overall well-being and quality of life. Women face unique challenges that can affect their ability to conceive, and increase the risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
Conditions such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and heavy menstrual bleeding are more prevalent among overweight and obese women. Those who become pregnant while overweight can experience issues such as protracted labour, poor response to labour induction, birth trauma and early neonatal infections.
For women, undergoing weight-loss surgery can specifically enhance reproductive health. Studies indicate women experience significantly lower rates of pregnancy-related complications such as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes compared to their counterparts that did not have surgery.
Historically, women were advised to wait 18 to 24 months after weight-loss surgery before attempting to conceive. It was believed the body needed time to adjust to its new state and ensure nutritional stability. However, recent studies have shown there is no difference in maternal or foetal outcomes in those that fall pregnant before or after 12-months post-surgery.
In fact, the current advice is more flexible whereby if the mother’s weight has stabilised and her nutritional blood tests are normal, she can safely consider pregnancy without a specific-time frame.
Perhaps one of the more exciting developments recently uncovered is research highlighting the long-term benefits associated with mothers who have undergone weight-loss surgery. Italian researchers found that children born after their mother’s surgery have much lower rates of obesity compared to their siblings born before the surgery.
These benefits continue into adolescence and early adulthood, suggesting weight-loss surgery may influence genetic factors associated with obesity, meaning the genetics of a newborn after maternal weight-loss surgery can prevent future obesity.
Despite these promising outcomes, it is advised that women who plan to conceive following weight-loss surgery must ensure their nutrition is adequate. Bariatric surgery can impact the absorption of nutrients, making it essential for women to monitor their vitamin and mineral levels, particularly folate.
Regular blood tests and consultations with healthcare providers can help maintain the necessary nutritional balance, ensuring a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.
As research continues to evolve, these insights will provide valuable guidance for women considering this life-changing surgery. Ensuring adequate nutrition and understanding the best time to conceive, while considering personal circumstances, is vital. This approach allows women to make informed decisions, leading to healthier outcomes for themselves and their children.

This procedure involves resection of about 85-90 percent of the stomach, converting the stomach from a large bag into a narrow tube, thus decreasing the amount of food that can be eaten. A sleeve gastrectomy provides extremely good rapid weight-loss, about 70-75 percent excess weight-loss.

BONE HEALTH OFTEN TAKES A BACKSEAT IN OUR HEALTH PRIORITIES UNTIL ISSUES LIKE FRACTURES OR OSTEOPOROSIS ARISE. IN AUSTRALIA, WHERE OSTEOPOROSIS AFFECTS OVER 1.2 MILLION PEOPLE, UNDERSTANDING BONE MINERAL DENSITOMETRY (BMD) BECOMES CRUCIAL. THIS ARTICLE AIMS TO SHED LIGHT ON WHAT BMD ENTAILS, ITS SIGNIFICANCE, AND WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE PROCESS, EMPOWERING AUSTRALIANS TO TAKE CHARGE OF THEIR BONE HEALTH.
What is Bone Mineral Densitometry?
Bone Mineral Densitometry, or BMD, is a non-invasive procedure used to measure bone density. It employs low-dose X-ray beams to assess bone mineral content and density, primarily focusing on areas like the hip, spine, or forearm.
Why is Bone Mineral Densitometry Important?
BMD plays a pivotal role in assessing bone strength and diagnosing conditions such as osteoporosis and osteopenia. Early detection through BMD can prompt preventive measures and treatment strategies to mitigate fracture risk and maintain bone health.
Who Should Consider Bone Mineral Densitometry?
While commonly associated with older adults, BMD is beneficial for individuals of all ages, especially those with risk factors for bone loss or fractures. These risk factors include age, family history, personal fracture history, certain medical conditions, and lifestyle habits like smoking or sedentary behavior.
What to Expect During a Bone Mineral Densitometry Scan?
The BMD scan is simple and painless. You’ll lie comfortably on a table as a scanning arm passes over
specified areas. There’s minimal preparation involved, and the procedure takes about 10 to 30 minutes. BMD scans involve very low radiation levels, ensuring safety for most individuals.
Interpreting Results and Next Steps:
BMD results are usually presented as a T-score, comparing bone density to that of a healthy young adult. A T-score above -1.0 is normal, -1.0 to -2.5 indicates osteopenia, and -2.5 or below indicates osteoporosis. Based on results, healthcare providers devise personalised plans encompassing lifestyle modifications and, if necessary, medication to optimise bone health.
Bone Mineral Densitometry is a vital tool for assessing bone health and detecting conditions like osteoporosis early on. By understanding its significance and taking proactive steps, individuals can reduce fracture risk and enjoy a healthier lifestyle. If concerned about bone health or osteoporosis risk factors, consulting a healthcare provider about BMD is advisable. Remember, investing in bone health today ensures a stronger and resilient future.
THE ROLE OF PLASTIC SURGERY IN BODY CONTOURING AFTER BARIATRIC SURGERY
Embarking on the journey towards a healthier lifestyle often involves significant sacrifices and transformations. For many individuals, bariatric surgery serves as a powerful tool in achieving weight-loss goals. However, the journey doesn’t end with shedding excess pounds; it extends to addressing the physical remnants left behind. Enter plastic surgery—a crucial ally in the final stages of the transformation, offering body contouring solutions to sculpt a new, confident you.
The Impact of Bariatric Surgery:
Bariatric surgery, whether gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, or gastric banding, can yield remarkable weight-loss results. Beyond the physical benefits, such as reduced risk of obesityrelated health issues, improved mobility, and increased energy levels, bariatric surgery often leads to profound psychological and emotional transformations. However, the rapid loss of weight may leave individuals grappling with excess skin, detracting from their sense of accomplishment and hindering their ability to fully embrace their new bodies.
Understanding Excess Skin:
As the body undergoes rapid weight-loss, the skin may struggle to adapt to the changes, resulting in laxity and sagging. This excess skin can be particularly prominent in areas such as the abdomen, arms, thighs, and breasts. Despite efforts to tone and strengthen muscles through exercise, the skin’s elasticity may not fully recover, leaving individuals frustrated by the lingering reminder of their former selves.
Enter Body Contouring Plastic Surgery:
Body contouring plastic surgery, also known as post-bariatric surgery, offers a solution to address excess skin and restore the body’s contours. These procedures involve the removal of excess skin and fat, along with the tightening of underlying tissues, to create a smoother, more defined silhouette. Common operations include abdominoplasty (tummy tuck),
brachioplasty (arm lift), thigh lift, breast lift, and lower body lift. Each procedure is tailored to address specific areas of concern, helping individuals achieve a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing physique.
List of Operations Available:
1. Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
2. Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)
3. Thigh Lift
4. Breast Lift
5. Lower Body Lift
Recovery and Beyond:
Recovery from body contouring plastic surgery varies depending on the extent of the procedures performed. While initial discomfort and swelling are common, most individuals can resume normal activities within a few weeks. However, it’s essential to follow post-operative instructions provided by the plastic surgeon to ensure optimal healing and results. Beyond physical recovery, body contouring plastic surgery offers individuals the opportunity to reclaim ownership of their bodies and embrace their newfound vitality with confidence and pride.
Body contouring plastic surgery plays a vital role in the holistic journey of individuals undergoing bariatric surgery. By addressing excess skin and restoring the body’s contours, these procedures empower individuals to fully embrace their transformation and embark on a new chapter of self-discovery and confidence. So, as you embark on the path to a healthier you, remember that the journey doesn’t end with weight-loss—it begins anew with the artistry of plastic surgery, sculpting a new you from the inside out.

THIS YEAR GOLD COAST OBSTETRICIAN/GYNAECOLOGIST DR ANDREW CARY CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF CARING FOR GOLD COAST WOMEN AND WE TALK TO HIM ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE.
Did you always want to practise medicine?
Yes, since Year 9 of high school, my father was also an obstetrics and gynaecology specialist.
What drew you to obstetrics and gynaecology?
My father’s career and work drew me to the area. I saw the positive aspect of this area of medicine in helping women achieve their goal of motherhood and raising a family.
Why did you choose to practise on the Gold Coast, and what has kept you practising here?
I had spent a year as a senior registrar at the Gold Coast Hospital at Southport and it was a supportive environment for lifestyle and work life balance, and a great place to raise a family. Pindara Private Hospital was also very supportive and willing to offer great opportunities as a young specialist.
30 years is an amazing milestone - what do you enjoy most about obstetrics and gynaecology? What keeps you coming back every day?
I greatly enjoy my work and the people I work with. It is a great privilege to be able to help so many people to advance from fertility issues to achieving the ultimate goal of completing their family.
Do you know how many babies you have delivered over your career?
There was never a plan to count each and every delivery but the estimate would be around 7000.
What have been some of the greatest challenges so far across your career?
The challenges are many, the job entails being available at all times of the day and night, 365 days a year and for sudden urgent attendance. This can really affect your social and family life and needs careful handling.
What have been some of your greatest triumphs?
Achieving pregnancies in women who have experienced tragedy and have multiple medical issues is the most rewarding part of what I do.
There have been plenty of changes in medicine since you first started practice. What do you think has been the most significant?
Advances in ultrasound have enabled the diagnosis of medical issues earlier and enabled timely interventions that save the lives of both mother and baby.
If you could provide women with one piece of advice for their gynaecological health - what would it be?
Regularly attend your doctor for screening tests and don’t ignore concerning symptoms.
Has anyone ever named their baby after you? Not that I am aware of. There have been plenty of Andrew’s, but there is usually a family connection to this name.
Have you ever worked with someone who you delivered?
I have worked with many colleagues whom I have delivered, these are both medical colleagues, nursing and midwifery colleagues, fertility scientists and administration staff. It is a great honour and privilege to be chosen to care for their health and wellbeing when I have worked alongside them.
Have you ever had an obstetrics patient who was also a baby you delivered?
I have delivered a number of women in the 1990’s and early 2000’s that have now gone on to have their own children.

Rodrigo Perez is a professional coach and founder of Holistic Pro Health Performance. For over two decades, he has coached and trained countless elite performers and world champions, through to the everyday athlete wanting to increase their mobility, motivation and healthy habits. With a degree in Exercise Science, his movement methodology and holistic longevity and wellness approach has helped thousands of people become more aware of their bodies, improve their nutrition, break through plateaus in their performance and ultimately become the optimal version of themselves.
After battling through his own physical and mental challenges and being confronted with his mother’s deteriorating health and eventual passing, Gold Coast local, Rodrigo Perez decided to learn all he could about the body and what it really needs to support a long, healthy and purpose-driven life. Years of research led him to create Holistic Pro Health Performance – inperson and online courses based in Coolangatta aimed at helping people from all walks of life achieve optimal health. Rodrigo has finally consolidated all of his extensive knowledge in his first book The Art of Longevity, where he shares a practical, easy-to-understand guide to longevity.
While we continue to age, our vitality begins to fade as we encounter compounding stress over career, family, financial stability and the pressure of staying mentally afloat. Our bodies react to this stress, and the spirit of our younger selves, including our energy and enthusiasm, are challenged. In becoming distant from who we were ten, twenty, thirty years ago, we allow poor nutrition and bad habits to take root, while our frantic mind takes the wheel. Worst of all, we neglect our ‘fire’ – the things that give our lives meaning.
In The Art of Longevity you’ll discover the life-changing benefits of:
• Routine, discipline, mindset and motivation (including comprehensive morning and night routines to ensure you’re starting and ending your day in the best way).
• Mobility, flexibility and core strength (including a photographic, step-by-step guide through a variety of essential movements, and a 12-week exercise program to kickstart your longevity journey).
• Nutrition, hydration and sleep.
• Breathwork and meditation.
This book and Rodrigo’s highly researched recommendations will provide you with all the tools to bring you back into equilibrium with your whole self, returning you to your passions and rediscovering your path to purpose.
SURGERY GOLD COAST FOR A NO-OBLIGATION CONSULTATION. ALL YOU HAVE TO LOSE IS THE WEIGHT.
Gastric Bypass provides the most robust long term weight-loss.
It involves dividing the upper portion of the stomach and attaching the small intestine to it so the food bypasses most of the stomach and upper small intestine where the digestive juices are formed.
This dramatically reduces the amount of food able to be eaten.

The Rainbow Diet has been gaining popularity in the wellness world. While it is currently in the spotlight, it is not a new concept and is composed of foods that have long been regarded for their wide range of health benefits. From cancer prevention and promoting heart health to nourishing the gut microbiome and weight management, there is no shortage of reasons why incorporating the Rainbow Diet into your lifestyle has its rewards. Let’s take a closer look at what exactly the Rainbow Diet is, and some helpful tips to help you incorporate it into your busy life.
What is the Rainbow Diet? The Rainbow Diet, as the name suggests, is built on the principle of consuming foods representing the colours of the rainbow. Each colour corresponds to specific nutrients and phytochemicals that offer unique health benefits. Blueberries and eggplants, with their deep blues and purples, are rich in anthocyanins, supporting brain health and cardiovascular function. Carrots and turmeric, with their bright orange and deep yellow, offer beta-carotene and curcumin, promoting eye health and reducing inflammation. Tomatoes and red capsicum, vibrant in colour, offer lycopene and betacarotene, promoting heart health and reducing cancer risk. Greens like spinach and broccoli are packed with Vitamins A, C, and K, supporting bone health and providing anticancer properties. Incorporating this rainbow of fruits and veggies into your diet ensures a diverse array of essential nutrients for a balanced and thriving body.
At its core, the Rainbow Diet emphasises the consumption of whole, unprocessed foods, thereby promoting nutrient density and minimising the intake of empty calories and harmful additives. By incorporating a wide variety of fruits and veggies into your diet, you can ensure that you are getting a spectrum of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients that are crucial for optimal wellness and warding off diseases.
Make it Your Own: If you are looking for ways to incorporate the Rainbow Diet into your lifestyle, here are a few tips to get your started.
• Eat the rainbow daily. This diet is truly all about variety! Make it a goal to consume foods from each colour group every day. This ensures you’re receiving a broad spectrum of nutrients and phytochemicals vital for optimal health.
• Plan ahead. Incorporating a rainbow of foods into your meals requires some planning. Create a weekly meal plan and grocery list that includes a variety of
colourful ingredients to ensure you have everything you need to eat the rainbow. This is a great opportunity to be a bit adventurous and try some new produce or flavour combinations. Aim to include as many seasonal ingredients into your meal planning to ensure you’re getting the most nutrients you can out of your produce.
• Prep in advance. Keep your fridge stocked with some easy-to-grab fruits, pre-cut veggie sticks and dips like guacamole or hummus. With colourful whole-food snacks on hand, you’re less likely to grab their hyperprocessed counterparts.
• Cook with care. Opt for cooking methods that preserve the nutritional integrity of fruits and veggies, such as steaming, roasting, or consuming them raw. Avoid excessive processing, which can strip away valuable nutrients.
• Stay flexible. Be flexible and adaptable with your dietary choices. While it’s essential to aim for a variety of colourful foods, don’t stress over perfection. Some days you may eat more greens, while other days you may consume more reds and oranges–it’s all about balance over time.
• Have some backup. If you are a bit short on time or looking for a tasty way to supercharge the nutrient profile of your meal, try eimele Essential Rainbow. This powder can be easily added to your water, smoothie or porridge to not only boost the flavour profile but also support your immunity, energy and gut microbiome.
The Rainbow Diet is packed with fruits and vegetables in all of the colours of the rainbow and offers a myriad of health benefits. With some planning and preparation in advance, care with cooking, reasonable expectations and your superfood powder as insurance, you will be well on your way to living your best life.
For most people, it’s not easy figuring out what to do with your life, let alone how to turn your passion into a lifestyle. Believe it or not, I was one of those people. For a long time, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do, only that I wanted to make it big! The best way to find your direction is to give things a go.
Sometimes I think how different my life might have been if I never went to Singapore. You do need to get out of your comfort zone sometimes. Sitting around and overthinking things will often make a situation worse, while getting up and trying something new will bring a shift. I tried plenty of things that didn’t work out before I discovered my passion, including going to university and a job I really hated.
After I finished high school, I moved back to Australia and enrolled in a business degree. I didn’t do it because I saw it as my career pathway, I just couldn’t face taking on a nine-to-five job. I figured that since the degree had the word ‘business’ in it, it might give me a chance of following in my step-dad’s entreprenuerial footsteps.
I soon realised that this particular university course wasn’t the kind of business dream I had in mind at all and, despite getting good grades, subjects like Economics 101 weren’t doing it for me. Truthfully? I hated it and, like for so many other high-school leavers, the years after I left were pretty crappy. There’s so much pressure, making that big decision about what to do with the rest of your life, and most of us have no idea. Even though the person probably means well, when I hear people asking teenagers, ‘What are you planning to do after school?’, I want to step in and say, ‘Hey, don’t ask them that, it’s too much pressure!
How is anyone at that age supposed to just ‘know’? That pressure was something I didn’t cope with well at all and having seen what people in Singapore were capable of made me feel, in a way, even more useless, indecisive and inadequate. At that point, I spiralled down in a pretty bad way. I was partying hard and smoking weed, which only made me sadder. My energy and motivation to do anything vanished. I became lost and depressed and didn’t know how to climb out of the hole I found myself in.
Then someone suggested meditation and yoga. Lucky for me, I’ve always been open to trying new things. Get out of your comfort zone, Tammy, I thought. I was in a pretty low state, so I figured anything was worth a shot. How hard could it be? I opened a meditation app, thinking I’d be told to chill and take some deep breaths. Little did I know, I was about to have my mind blown.
Guided into a deeply relaxed state, I became hyper-aware of every molecule in my body. My imagination kicked into action. With the deep breathing acting like a drug, I felt like I was being scanned energetically and healing with each inhale/ exhale. In that moment, I learnt the meaning of being ‘truly present’. At the same time it felt like I was having an out-ofbody experience. When it was over, I felt totally transformed. Meditation led to yoga, where I began training as an instructor. From there, the world of weight training
and fitness opened up. Each day, moving my body began recalibrating my mind. It was like a light had been switched on, illuminating what had been a dark place. It was as if the exercise and mind-work had unlocked the universe. Suddenly, and with complete clarity, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I knew what my passion was.
Give it a go.
Have you ever tried something new and thoroughly enjoyed it? Maybe there’s something you used to love doing that you haven’t done for a while. Either way, could you make more time for it . . . could it even become your passion? Your career?
Here are a few ideas to prompt you. Circle the ones that appeal and maybe add in a few more. Come back and revisit this list often, continuing to try new things until something clicks. Doing what you love is always a good idea and, who knows, it may just lead to you getting paid for it. It did for me.
Things to try:
• Organising social events
• Going to new places
• Working out
• Meditating
• Planning an adventure
• Creating imaginary worlds
• Taking up music
• Trying a new hobby
Your inner journey reflects your outer one. I love working out and working on my physical form, it’s a kind of therapy for me. But your mind is something even more important to work on. I challenge you to start doing 5–10 minutes of mindfulness in the morning or evening. See how it makes you feel, see how your life evolves and changes. Your sense of peace, your mood, your mindset, and in turn, your actions and your life.
During winter especially, fortifying our immune system becomes paramount in warding off seasonal bugs and maintaining overall well-being. Central to this defence is the nurturing of our gut health, which serves as the headquarters for our immune system. Renowned nutritionist Steph Lowe, also known as The Natural Nutritionist and a trusted nutrition expert at Cell Squared, advocates for a holistic approach to gut health through the incorporation of nutrient-packed foods. Here are her top recommendations.
Liver: Nature’s Superfood
Liver emerges as a nutritional powerhouse, rich in vital nutrients such as Vitamin A, B vitamins, iron, and zinc, essential for bolstering immune function and nurturing gut health. Its role in supporting gut healing and fortifying the immune system makes it a cornerstone of winter wellness. For those seeking convenience without compromising on nutrition, Cell Squared Organic Beef Liver capsules offer a trustworthy solution, delivering a daily dose of organ goodness
Fibre: The Digestive Dynamo
A diet abundant in fibre from fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains is crucial for maintaining regular bowel movements and nurturing beneficial gut bacteria. Through
fermentation, fibre generates short-chain fatty acids like butyrate, which nourish intestinal cells and cultivate a thriving gut environment.
Probiotics and Prebiotics: Cultivating Balance
Fermented foods rich in probiotics, along with prebioticrich foods like garlic and onions, work synergistically to introduce beneficial bacteria into the gut and provide the necessary fuel for their growth and activity. This symbiotic relationship promotes a balanced microbiome, essential for optimal digestion and immunity.
The anti-inflammatory properties of Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fatty fish and plant sources like flaxseeds and walnuts, contribute to a healthier gut environment by reducing inflammation. By supporting digestive wellness, Omega-3s play a vital role in maintaining gut integrity and overall health.
Collagen: Strengthening Gut Barrier
Collagen supplements containing amino acids like glycine, proline, and glutamine offer support in repairing and fortifying the gut lining. By enhancing gut integrity, collagen reduces the risk of leaky gut syndrome, mitigating inflammation and promoting digestive health.

• 300g dairyfree chocolate drops
ICE CREAM BASE
• 190g cashews, soaked overnight in water
• 400ml coconut cream
• 40g rapadura sugar
• 80g maple syrup
• 8g vanilla bean paste
• 20g coconut oil, solid not melted
Next day, drain the cashews and place in a high-speed blender with the coconut cream, sugar, maple syrup and vanilla paste. Blitz until very smooth. Add the coconut oil and blitz again to emulsify, but without heating the oil too much, so the mixture doesn’t split.
Pour into your ice cream machine and follow the manufacturer’s churning instructions.
Once the ice cream has been churned but is still soft, gently stir the mulberries through, being careful not to break them up too much.
Pour into six ice cream moulds or small cups and press a vine cutting or wooden stick into the centre of each, stopping before you hit the base of the mould or cup.
Freeze for 2–3 hours to set, or overnight. (I’ve made these up to a week ahead, and left them in the freezer until just before choc-dipping them for serving.)
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler, or in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water.
Pour the chocolate into a tall, narrow, heatproof container.
Quickly dip each ice cream into the chocolate to coat all over, and place on a sheet of baking paper.
Put the ice creams back in the freezer for about 30 minutes to set the chocolate, then serve immediately.
You could leave them in the freezer once you have choc-dipped them, but I find they’re a little diffcult to protect from being bumped around once removed from their moulds and coated in chocolate.
METHOD
Preheat the oven to 180ºC with the grill setting on.
SERVES 4
• 4 pears, peeled and roughly chopped
• 4 stalks rhubarb, chopped
• 1 vanilla bean, split in half lengthwise. (1 teaspoon of vanilla extract works too)
• 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
• ½ cup plain flour
• ½ cup rolled oats
• ½ cup brown sugar
• 40g desiccated coconut
• 80g butter, softened and cubed cream or ice-cream, to serve
In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups water to the boil. Add the pear, rhubarb, vanilla bean and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Simmer over gentle heat for 15–20 minutes until the liquid reduces and you have a thick, gluggy consistency.
Meanwhile, combine the flour, oats, sugar and coconut in a bowl. Sprinkle over the remaining cinnamon. Add the butter and, using clean fingers (please wash them and don’t be a gross human), rub the ingredients together so the mixture becomes like breadcrumbs.
Once the fruit mixture is ready, spoon it into an ovenproof dish (filled three-quarters full ) and generously sprinkle with the crumble mixture. Bake the crumble in the oven for 15–20 minutes until golden.
Serve with a dollop of cream or ice-cream.
TO MAKE IT
Dairy free – replace the butter with 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil.
Gluten free – substitute almond meal for the plain flour and source oats that are free from gluten contamination.
SERVES 12
• 3 zucchini, grated and excess liquid thoroughly squeezed out (don’t leave a drop behind!)
• 1 cup frozen corn kernels, thawed and drained thoroughly
• 1 tablespoon grated onion, liquid squeezed out
• 1 garlic clove, minced
• 1 egg
• ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
• ½ cup grated parmesan
• ½ cup wholemeal plain flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
• salt and pepper
• 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
• ½ cup Greek-style yoghurt
• 1 teaspoon lemon juice
METHOD
In a bowl, combine the zucchini, corn, onion, garlic, egg, cheeses, flour, baking powder and basil, stirring well to make a glorious thick rainbow-filled mixture. Season with salt and pepper as desired.
To make the dipping sauce, mix together the yoghurt and lemon juice in a small bowl, stirring well to combine.
In a non-stick frying pan, heat the olive oil. Add a generously heaped tablespoon of the mixture to the pan and flatten with a spatula to make a fritter shape (if you’re pedantic about the shape – and there’s no shame in that – you can make the fritter in your hands by rolling a ball, flattening gently then popping it into the pan). Allow the fritters to cook for 3–4 minutes then flip and cook for the same time on the other side.
Remove from the heat, cool and pop into little paws with the dipping sauce on the side.
TO MAKE IT
Even more veggie packed – throw in some peas and or grated carrot.
Gluten free – use a gluten-free flour blend.
Egg free – add 3 tablespoon olive oil to the fritter mixture so it sticks together a little more.
Dairy free – leave the cheese out or substitute with a plant-based alternative. You can substitute the yoghurt dipping sauce with sweet chilli sauce or plant-based yoghurts or sour cream.
METHOD
Preheat the oven to 200°C.
SERVES 6
• 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
• 1 teaspoon dried basil
• 1 sweet potato, peeled and roughly chopped
• 1 zucchini, roughly chopped
• 1 onion, diced
• ½ head of garlic, trimmed
• 345ml tomato passata (puréed tomatoes)
• 425g tin kidney beans, drained and rinsed
• 200g corn chips
• ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
TO SERVE
• Guacamole
• Cherry tomatoes
• Squeeze of lime
• Coriander (cilantro)
• Yoghurt
In a small bowl, coat the sweet potato, zucchini, onion and garlic with extra-virgin olive oil and dried basil then transfer to a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Bake for 20 minutes or until the veggies are soft and cooked through.
Add the roasted veggies back into the bowl and mash them well with a fork.
Add the passata and kidney beans to the bowl and stir to combine.
To assemble the nachos, spread the corn chips out on a baking tray lined with baking paper and cover with the bean mix. Top with grated cheese and bake for 10–15 minutes until the chips are nice and crispy and the cheese is gooey and bubbling.
SERVES 6
• 1 large sweet potato, thinly sliced lengthways
• 3 zucchinis, thinly sliced lengthways
• 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus extra for coating
• 500g grass-fed minced (ground) beef
• 1 brown onion, diced
• 3 garlic cloves, minced
• 680ml tomato passata (puréed tomatoes)
• 1 teaspoon dried basil
• 1 teaspoon dried oregano
• ½ cup spinach (fresh or frozen)
• 250g ricotta
• 1 egg
• Handful chopped basil
• ¼ cup parmesan cheese
METHOD
Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
Coat the sweet potato and zucchini in extra-virgin olive oil then place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 20 minutes or until soft.
Meanwhile, in a deep frying pan over a medium–high heat, add 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil and fry off the onion and garlic until translucent. Add your mince and stir until brown.
Stir in the the passata and dried herbs. Once the sauce starts to bubble, turn down the heat to low and leave the sauce to simmer for 20–30 minutes.
A few minutes before removing the pan from the heat, stir in your spinach.
While the sauce is simmering, make the ricotta filling by stirring an egg through the ricotta in a bowl. If the mixture feels too thick, pour in up to ¼ cup water. It should be a nice spreadable consistency.
In a deep baking dish, start compiling your lasagne layers. Add 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil to the bottom of the dish then add half the sweet potato slices covering the base of the dish.
Add 40g of the mince covering all of the sweet potato and sprinkle with basil. Next, add half of the zucchini slices followed by another 40g of the mince and half of the ricotta mix. Sprinkle some more basil leaves on top. Add the rest of the sweet potato, the remaining mince and the remaining zucchini slices.
Finish with the remaining ricotta, spreading it out as much as possible and sprinkle parmesan cheese over the top of the lasagne to finish.
Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until the lasagne is nice and golden on top.
UNLOCK YOUR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL POTENTIAL WITH QUANTUM BIOHACKING
At one point, Dr Espen’s health seemed beyond repair after a traumatic childhood and near-fatal motorcycle accident that left him with a shattered spine and legs in 2006. However, the former personal trainer, nutritionist, and wellness researcher embarked on a personal healing journey that not only allowed him to recover completely - but also elevated him to extraordinary new heights.
The secret? Embracing the cutting-edge science of quantum biohacking.
Today, at 41 years old, the Gold Coast-based Soulpreneur and former Australian Ninja Warrior semi-finalist is fitter, healthier, and biologically younger than ever. His secret weapon is leveraging the power of consciousness to turn obstacles into opportunities.
Dr Espen’s multidisciplinary approach developed from over a decade of running health clinics, where he gained vital insights into what allowed patients to achieve peak performance. He now shares proven scientific methods and ancient wisdom at The Quantum Academy - his organisation dedicated to human potential and unleashing energy, healing, and freedom.
Dr Espen recommends consulting a coach to create a personalised programme through testing for those new to biohacking. But he truly believes that simple practices in biohacking can provide immense results.
“My top one would be intermittent fasting and caloric production. It helps me maintain physical and emotional mastery, along with purification. As well as the Power of Breathwork—particularly my quantum DMT breathwork experience, which is an incredible way to remove blockages, let go of limiting beliefs, and step into our full potential. Finally, understanding that everything is energy, which is crucial. To me, the primary practice of biohacking should be to increase energy, frequency, and vibration in both body and mind.”
Whether you’re struggling mentally, lacking energy, or want to prime yourself for peak performance, unlocking your physical and mental potential is the door to transformation.

GOLD COAST FOR A NO-OBLIGATION CONSULTATION. ALL YOU HAVE TO LOSE IS THE WEIGHT.
The SADI procedure (Sleeve Gastrectomy plus Duodeno-Ileostomy) involves a sleeve gastrectomy with bypass of part of the small intestine. The weight-loss and resolution of medical disorders is much more than a sleeve gastrectomy alone. This procedure is preferred over Gastric Bypass as it avoids many of the long-term problems some patients with gastric bypass experience. Dr Free has pioneered this procedure in Australia and modified it to improve it’s long term safety whilst maintaining improved weight-loss. Dr Free continues to lead research comparing the various types of SADI and other weight-loss procedures.

The Queensland Electric Super Highway connects electric vehicle drivers across the state, featuring fast charging locations at various coastal and inland sites. These fast chargers are installed in convenient, safe locations near major highways, with nearby amenities such as cafes, restaurants, and shops. These sites allow you to easily charge your vehicle, enjoy a short break, and prepare for a safe onward journey. For personal use, a wall-mounted AC charger provides a fast way to charge vehicles at a rate of up to 11kW. Once the vehicle is plugged in, charging begins automatically and ends when the battery is fully charged or reaches the pre-determined level. Additionally, BMW i and MINI Electric models are compatible with all Type 2 public charging stations widely available in Australia.
BMW’s new offerings are part of a strategic move to increase its EV market share in Australia. Globally, the company aims for 20% of its new vehicle sales to be fully electric by 2025, increasing to 25% by 2026.
