OLIVIA SCOTT CAME TO THE GOLD COAST FROM SYDNEY FOR SCHOOLIES ‘89 WHEN SHE WAS 17. SHE LOVED IT SO MUCH, SHE STAYED. HERE, OLIVIA WITH HUSBAND CLIFF AND DAUGHTERS, DANIELLE (20) AND ASHLEIGH (18) SHARES HER ‘ESCAPE PLANS’ FOR R&R HERE AND ABROAD.

Her parents bought a house at Runaway Bay and Olivia’s first job on the GC was at Cav's Steakhouse, Labrador. She started as a dishwasher, then worked through the ranks to waitress and eventually, Maître D. A year later, she scored her first job in radio in Longreach. For the past two years, Olivia has hosted the number 1 rating Morning Show (9am-to 12pm) on the Gold Coast on 102.9 Hot Tomato.

What are your favourite places for a family escape? We usually

love going to Bali. After doing the rounds of many areas in Bali, our favourite these days is Legian. We like to stay at Padma and Legian Beach Hotel. I love morning beach walks and watching the sunsets on the beach with a Bintang or a cocktail.

In the past 12 months we have been to Yeppoon, where we have a holiday house and family, Hervey Bay and Mooloolaba. We are going to Hamilton Island in June. I love Queensland!

I'm pretty simple: I love to shop, sightsee and wine and dine. I always take the opportunity to try as many cocktails as I can when I'm on holidays while checking out new sights. I always make sure I go somewhere I've never been before when I'm sightseeing.

Favourite luggage brand?

Don't really care as long as it turns up where I am, and in one piece.

What items are on your "must

pack" list for any vacation? Always

sunscreen, a hat and my pink lipstick. I always plan to exercise and pack my sneakers but sometimes/most of the time they don't get used. Hahaha...

What books are you reading

What about mementos - do you collect anything in the places you

visit? I don't usually collect mementos, but I always buy myself something new for my wardrobe.

Do you have versatile pieces in your wardrobe that can take you

anywhere? I always pack pink and leopard print. at the moment? I'm not reading anything at the moment, but I do love Tess Gerritsen for a great crime/ thriller. I also love biographies/ autobiographies and can't go past a good Jackie Collins book.

How do you beat travel

fatigue, or jet lag? I try to get

into the groove and adjust to the new time schedule as soon as possible and also sleep on the plane. You don't want to miss out on anything at your destination.

What about for air travel - any routines, comfort, beauty items

you can share? I always like to make sure that hair, lashes and nails are done and ALWAYS travel in black. I remember being on a very rough flight from Brisbane to Singapore and spilled a glass of red wine down my top. Lucky I was wearing black, and have done ever since.
