E ric ka S ch ne id er m an

I was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala in 1998. My parents adopted me in 1998 when I was 5 months old. I lived in Dayton Ohio from that age till I was four. I moved to Columbus where I have been living ever since. A few people who really have had significance in and on my life are my parents, a selective few friends, and myself. My parents have been there for me, whether it was when I was sick, needed advice, helping me succeed and just being great parents. A special girl who has been in my life since the 7th grade is my dear friend Riki. She has been a role model, a helper, a caring soul, a sister, and such a sweet, wonderful girl. I’d have

to say that I have played a part in my own life by thinking through decisions, choosing different ways to go about situations, and being a tour guide of my life. What I can say I look for in my future and where I see myself is finished with college, maybe either looking for a job or be hired somewhere, being able to support myself, my own place maybe, a boyfriend possibly, still keeping in contact with a few friends and of course, having new ones as the years go by.

The Royal Taj Mahal Commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the remains of his cherished wife, the Taj Mahal stands on the southern bank of the Yamuna River in Agra, India. Named the Taj Mahal in honor of Mumtaz Mahal, the mausoleum was constructed of white marble inlaid with semi-precious stones (including jade, crystal, lapis lazuli, amethyst and turquoise) forming intricate designs in a technique known as pietra dura. Its central dome reached a height of 240 feet and was surrounded by four smaller domes; four slender towers, or minarets, stood at the corners.

The construction of Taj Mahal started in the year 1631. Masons, stonecutters, inlayers, carvers, painters, calligraphers, dome-builders and other artisans were requisitioned from the whole of the empire and also from Central Asia and Iran, and it took approximately 22 years to build what we see today. An epitome of love, it made use of the services of 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants. The monument was built entirely out of white marble, which was brought in from all over India and central Asia. After an expenditure of approximately 32 million rupees, Taj Mahal was finally completed in the year 1653.
