Evolve without forgetting the roots

After seven years of activity, Vivaldi Comm has decided to change gear and therefore change its name, headquarters, and expand its reference sector. Without changing identity of course

We interviewed Matteo Nardini during the event that Vivaldi Comm organised on October 19th, to share some important changes within the company with customers and partners. The most evident and significant of the directions taken is the change of name, which will pass from Vivaldi Comm to Vicomm, to establish a stronger identity as a distributor. Not that the company has not reached important milestones and affirmed its orientation to date, but the development of recent years has made it feel the need to reaffirm its status as a distributor. The event on 19th October was, not surprisingly, the first for Vivaldi Comm: in the enchanting setting of Villa Braida in the Venetian province, a Palladian residence with a large garden, guests were able to enjoy a few hours of an almost summery climate. It started with a general meeting to share the changes taking place and some presentations of the main partners and suppliers of the company, and ended with a tour of the area dedicated to vendors and an evening of celebration for everyone. But let's pass the mic over to Matteo Nardini, Sales Director of Vicomm: “We have chosen this place to share a piece of our being Venetian with our guests, who come from all over Italy. For us it is a very important moment: today we will announce the new name that will sanction a new course but in continuity with the work done to date, that is the basis that has allowed us to get here. " Do we want to retrace this path? Matteo Nardini - Vivaldi Comm was born in 2016 after an important order and thanks also to the relationships established through Taiden, one of the most important brands that we still deal with and which at the time opened the doors of distribution to us. Edoardo Girotto, founder of Vivaldi srl a manufacturer - and me, developed of audio systems based in Noventa di Piave - developed the idea and started a new business with the name Vivaldi Comm, also taking inspiration from our past experiences.

Why open a new distributor when Vivaldi was already giving you so much satisfaction? Vivaldi produces audio and home automation equipment, and operates mainly in the electrical world: it has excellent insights into design studios, plant engineers and

experts. Relevant orders move through this channel, and these operators often arrive first on projects: one of the partners wanted to open a new business capable of intercepting orders of this nature, hence the idea of giving life to Vivaldi Comm as a Pro AV distributor. Compared to other distributors, it is precisely the connection with the electricity world that has given value to the company, giving us the opportunity to intercept a series of opportunities from that sector. And how did it go? The intuition was successful: the collaboration with Taiden was crucial, we began to structure ourselves and the brands distributed multiplied: first Zevee, then came VHD, a brand of cameras for conference rooms, meeting rooms, etc. In 2018 we won the first important order, the meeting rooms of the Lombardy Region, a great job that also allowed us to expand our visibility and the portfolio of distributed brands. We were also able to brilliantly overcome the pandemic thanks to the VHD cameras, which were in great demand for applications related to hybrid work, and which allowed us to maintain a useful margin for the stability of the company. With the growth, the need to structure ourselves better also arose.

So why did you decide on a change, in the name but which symbolises a programmatic change? Growth has highlighted our specialities and the connection with the electrical world: there has never been an overlap with Vivaldi because the two companies have always worked on different levels, moreover Vivaldi is only a minimal customer of Vivaldi Comm. However, if on the one hand such a similar name has created some confusion among customers, on the other it was necessary to distance oneself from the electrical world, to give a clear signal that the market we frequent is not that of "interchangeable" products but that of the valued brand, of the technical assistance, of the constant support to the customer. So another level and another type of work, with no room for competition, let's call it that, on the electrical side. Especially in the South, in fact, the contact with the electric world is more marked, and we wanted to eliminate any misunderstanding. So from Vivaldi Comm to Vicomm ... The new name Vicomm wishes to reaffirm the company's roots but, at the same time, to point out a change. For this reason, as well as for administrative and organisational reasons, the two names will be in coexistence until the end of the year, and from January we will only use Vicomm. Furthermore, we are expanding the workforce: at the moment there are five of us, there’s me who takes care of sales, Michela Barbieri takes care of Administration, Elvira Pontillo is Sales Manager, Riccardo Vanin is our Product Manager, Davide Trevisol is dedicated to the warehouse and Elisa Migotto is our Marketing Manager. Now we are looking for a second Product Manager. Then in January we’ll launch the new website and also change location. Vivaldi Comm's main business has always been the corporate sector. Will the move to Vicomm also sanction an enlargement or shift of focus? Yes, the goal is precisely to expand the reference market and also approach museums, exhibitions,, hospitality, or the world of training. And once the transition is complete, will Vicomm's peculiarities and reasons for contacting you be the same as before or different? Almost all of us come from Systems Integration, this gives a very technical imprint to the company, we are neither too small nor large, this gives us solidity and reliability but at the same time we have kept attention to each individual brand and complete knowledge of every product we sell. This allows us to follow the customer step by step, to support them especially in the pre-sale phase. In fact, if for Taiden we are often the first choice, that is, the customer comes to us for that particular brand, for others we are an alternative but which is immediately qualified when we explain the product. And we know that not all projects are huge and not all require top-of-the-range solutions ... the market is full of small and medium-sized installations, of environments for which "doing the best" means finding the right balance between simplicity and efficiency. Even for repairs, although rare, we often prefer replacement directly, while for Taiden, the more complex and expensive brand, we offer a five-year warranty from the outset. Shall we have a brief overview of all the brands you distribute? First of all, of course, I appoint Taiden with whom we have been working from the

beginning, a very serious company in the conferencing sector with which we share projects and technical support, known for reliable products and I would say "smart", as they include more features in a single device. In 2018, VHD arrived for cameras: now we receive daily orders and within two years it has become our second most important brand; Rocware, which you’ll see in our catalogue, is simply a cousin: a brand of OEM manufacturer VHD. I would also like to mention LB for in-wall and column loudspeakers, of the highest quality and with Made in Italy components, German brand as well as Dspecialists for digital audio arrays.. I would like to mention Rio Labs, our proprietary brand of 8x8 and 16x16 matrices with DSP, with excellent value for money, and of course Aten for which we are the reference for modular and seamless matrices. Maxhub was presente as a preview: the new distribution of its UC equipment will start in January 2023.

What are you going to toast tonight after the customer meeting? After the meeting in which we will explain the reasons and methods of the name change we will give the floor to some of our suppliers, to then move on to one-toone meetings. We have many guests, today we’ll be about a hundred, and this great success is making us consider doing this annually. We are really excited. Tonight we will drink to Vicomm of course, but above all to our customers and partners who have allowed us to get this far. 
