Welcome to today’s game

Welcome to the Halbrooke Stadium today, as we host Pinchbeck United in this UHL Sport United Counties League Premier North Fixture.

I am a couple of weeks into my role as 1st Team Chairman of your football club and I’m so pleased at the reception that I’ve received from you guys.

We had a meet and greet two weeks ago and lots of positives came from the meeting. We are in the process of setting up a Supporters Club, we prioritised a number of areas to focus on to create a better Match Day Experience and increase revenue for the cub.

Our league position is very concerning and it is imperative that we avoid relegation at all costs. New faces and a positive mindset are needed by everyone at the club.... Players managers staff and supporters need to unite and help us in this difficult time results wise.

I’m convinced that we have a great future here at ECFC and I will do everything in my power to ensure a bright future at the club.

Thanks and Up The Red Badgers

Darryl Claypole 1st Team Chairman

PinchbeckUnited

1930’s - History suggests that there was a football team in Pinchbeck as early as the 1930s. 1950’s - Joined the Premier Division of the Peterborough & District League in 1958. Won the Lincolnshire County Cup in 1957/58 and the picture of that triumph is still displayed at Knight Street. 1980’s - Premier Division Champions in 1989/90, retaining the title the following season. This was under the stewardship of Dave Arnold.

2011(2012) - Champions again in 2011/12 and won the PFA Senior cup at Peterborough United’s Ground to complete the Double. This was Ian Dunn’s first spell at the club.

2015(2016) - Dunn was to re-join the club in the 2015/16 season with Allan Ross and together they forged a formidable team. After a poor start to the league campaign, went on a great run to finish 3rd that term and won the Presidents Shield.

2016(2017) - Retained the Presidents Shield in the 2016/17 season, and the nickname. “The Knights” was born and went on to gain promotion to the United Counties League. The nickname was born from the home of Pinchbeck United in Knight Street, however with the ground unable to meet United Counties League Standards we were forced to leave our home and rent the Sir Halley Stewart Field in Spalding.

2017(2018) - The 2017/18 season was the first time at Step 6 and we rose to the challenge winning the United Counties League Division 1 title with games to spare.

2018(2019) - In 2018/19 in the United Counties Premier League finished a creditable 4th in the League and reached the Hinchingbrooke Cup Final.

2019-2021 - The 2019/20 & 2020/21 seasons were difficult time for the club on and off the field not registering any wins in the disrupted and ultimately expunged seasons due to Corona virus.

2021 – Under new management with Lewis Thorogood and his backroom staff as well as a new look squad the club is once again excited to see what the future brings in step 5 football.

2021-2022 – After rebuilding the squad and having a very young side, the team managed to get a reprieve from relegation on PPG basis finishing 17th out of 18 teams and taking it down to the last game of the season.

2022-2023 – After five years of trying Pinchbeck United won their first ever respective FA competition matches in the extra preliminary round of FA Cup against Melton Town after a replay before losing to Shepshed Dynamo of step 4 in the preliminary round, as well as reaching the Fourth Round proper of the FA Vase starting from the first qualifying round beating Holbeach Utd, Deeping Rangers, Sherwood Colliery, Dunkirk & St Panteleimon before falling to an away defeat in the last 32 to Congleton Town.

ECFC Owner and Director Jamie Bennett had this to say:~

“I met Mayor David Grindell at the start of the season as both Board members for Liberty Leisure. I was taken in by how passionate the Mayor was by his chosen charities for the year. After the meet it made sense to align our charity work for seasons 2022-23 with the work the Mayor of Broxtowe will be supporting”

We are pleased to say that all the gate money from today’s game will be donated to the White Ribbon Charity which campaigns against domestic violence. I would like to wish you all a good &

I know results since my arrival haven’t been the best which is possibly a understatement but I am positive moving forwards. The squad is now starting to come together and I hope you can all see how hard I work behind the scenes to get the best possible squad out that I can weekly.

As you can imagine it hasn’t been a easy ride for myself but I have no doubt in my squads ability and togetherness that we can all get through this and we will survive! Starting with a massive 3 points today against Pinchbeck United.

They currently sit one place above us in the league table but have numerous games in hand on ourselves so picking up 3 points today is absolutely huge.

Looking at our fixtures moving forward we have more than winnable games with Newark & Loughborough also in there which we know will be very tough. If we can beat the sides in and around us I know we will get through it.

Please enjoy the game today and hopefully we can walk away with 3 points and a enjoyable game for you all to watch.

Thanks
