GoodafternoonEveryoneand welcometotoday’sgame.

It’s been a busy few weeks with lots of work going on behind the scenes, particularly with regard to the academy relaunch.

On Monday 3rd of April we are having an open day to encourage young people to join us and commit their future to our scholarship programme. We have partnered with SGI (Sports Group International) and they are represented by former Eastwood Town legend Paul Cox who will be hosting the event back at his spiritual home at Eastwood. Our first team managers will also be in attendance to outline the exciting opportunities available in the newly formed development squad. I’m hopeful to be able to announce a major development regarding our development pathway and this will be the most exciting opportunity which will transform our club.

On the 21st of April, we have a really special evening here at the club when our walking footballers will host a Nottingham Forest team which includes Forest legend Steve Chettle, there will also be an inter Eastwood CFC penalty shootout competition. Entrance is free but donations are welcome. This will be follwed by European greats Kenny Burns and our very own Larry Lloyd hosting a Q&A at the venue after the game. For the Q&A after, entrance is £10 per person, 1st come 1st serve. All proceeds for this go to Brain Tumour Research and they have kindly donated trophies and medals for the event. This is a family evening with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. We are now at the business end of the season, the only priority for us is to stay in this division. Your support is vital in helping us achieve that aim. As a club we have big plans, but for today it’s 3 points please.

Again, my thanks to you all.

Uptheredbadgers!

GoodAfternoonandwelcometoall committeemembersandsupportersof bothSherwoodCollieryandEastwood CFC.

Two months into the job and I’ll give you an honest assessment of where we believe we are at.. in truth it has been really challenging probably harder than we expected walking into the job with no previous experience but one we are relishing.

Results on the pitch haven’t improved as we would of hoped for, losing some real big players like Ben Fairclough, Will Foley, Etien Omari and Tyler Blake long term hasn’t helped. Massiah getting sent off as well has killed the little momentum we had instilled to a side lacking in confidence, but we as a whole have to keep believing we can get results each weekend and keep fighting.

The long and short of it is the squad is still lacking in confidence and it’s our job to try and get them believing in themselves again.

We have a huge month in April to secure Step 5 status for next season and then I promise you things will improve drastically on the pitch.

We need the doubters and the supporters at the club to stay as committed as ever.

It is still a very young squad of players and management team.

Together we will be a lot stronger. Back the players as you do and let’s have a positive end for the season

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

In2012-13, an application to join the Central Midlands League was successful. The club entered a First team in the North Division and a Reserve team in the Reserve Premier League and with a young squad of players managed the adjustment to the higher level of football re asonably well. A third (A) team was added in 2013-14 with an even younger squad of players who played in the MAA to gain experience of adult football.

2013-14 saw the first team achieve a creditable 10th place in the North division while the Reserves completed a Reserve Premier and Reserve League Cup double. The ‘A’ team finished in 4th place in the MAA Division 2. Despite this success, the club suffered a hammer blow in the close season prior to the 2014-15 season with the management teams leaving the club only 2 weeks before the start of the season. The club managed to somehow put managers and players in place and fulfil the fixtures.

The2015-16 season saw an influx of new committee members and new First and Reserve team managers appointed in early June. Wayne Savage joined from Bilsthorpe FC and remains in the post. He secured promotion via the CML South runners-up position in 2017-18 and the club achieved Step 5 status in 2021-22 through the points per game restructure following 2 covid-19 affected seasons. Last season the team finished a creditable 5th place in the highly competitive Northern Counties East League and reached the first qualifying round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

2021-22 sees another change of league, a lateral move to the United Counties League.
