how do I get to smithdown road?
by bus... Get the 86, 86a, 80, 80a, 75 or 699, it takes about 10 minutes from town. Or if you’re coming from Aigburth or Bootle you can jump on a 60.
by train... The nearest stations are either Edge Hill or Wavertree Technology Park, but you’d be looking at a 20 - 30 min walk after that.
by car... Just put it in your sat nav, or failing that just follow the 86 bus.

2016 IT’S BACK AND IT’S BETTER THAN BEFORE! If you were one of the lucky ones that made it along to the 2015 Smithdown Road Festival then you’ll probably remember just how good a weekend it was! Fast forward 12 months, and we’re feeling a whole lot more ambitious. We’ve been given the use of The Frontline Centre on Lawrence Road (aka The Mystery Stage)and the Unitarian Church to host a much bigger line up, plus food stalls from
local vendors and there’s even a dedicated kids area to keep the little ones busy too. There really will be something for everyone. xxxxxxxxx ................................... We’ve got shows lined up from (amongst many others) local legends in the making The Sundowners, founder of The La’s Mike Badger, returning festival favourite Tommy Scott (Space), Frank Turner’s favourite artist in the world Beans On Toast and the absolute rock star that is Tony Wright of Brit rockers Terrorvision fame. Not to mention the outrageous talents of Miss Natalie McCool and Manchester altpunks False Advertising taking to the stage as well. With over 120 acts and events across 11 venues for three incredible days, we are sure you are in for a treat this year!

Don’t miss this one!

232 smithdown road
The newest arrival to the road is a surf bar and craft bistro, serving local produce with world tastes. Good food, good drinks, good times! We will be holding our acoustic stage here all weekend! xxxxxxxxxxx
Saturday
matt barton (tramp attack) 9:30pm
Matt Barton is the singer in Bandwagon legends Tramp Attack. His songs ‘explore, in depth, all four human emotions’. We aren’t sure what entirely sure what all four human emotions are, but he has a song about Smithdown Road so you could assume one of the emotions involves fried chicken. This will be a very intimate set, so get down early to avoid a lock out!
matthew reekie
8:30pm
Fantastic song writer from Liverpool and frontman of band Tenements. Singing songs of personal experience, cathartic tunes and Country laments. You’ve probably seen him at Kelly’s or Evil Eye open mic. He’s a bit good.
andrew seddon 7:30pm
This guy is basically the nicest bloke in the history of music. His music is very good, his singing voice is great, but his manners are an example to us all.
plus:
3.30pm - 5.30pm: Acoustic sessions - We’ll be bringing you some of the best of the local talent to entertain you with their plucking, strumming and maybe a kazoo. 6.30pm: Paul John Walker - Loops and riffs from one of the finest up and coming solo musicians around at the moment. Expect a few surprises from this one.

silent sleep
Sunday
9:30pm The brainchild of Chris McIntosh (28 Costumes, Hallo..I Love You, Haarm), Silent Sleep play “play sparkly sad and darkly romantic songs with searingly honest lyrics about this and that”. With a string of singles under his belt, including the immeasurably catchy “Meet Me On The Steps Of The Bombed Out Church” this is going to be a cracking set not to miss.
parker and the suitcase
8:30pm
A two-part combo - driving vintage street-corneresque sound. It's the 'one-man band Hereford Elvis' and singing double bass hepcat from Hong Kong!
satin beige 7:30pm
Soulful, wistful, sassy and sultry, Satin is a household name in the making. A sound comparable to Alicia Keys, albeit with a cello, she has been touring relentlessly and making a big impact around the UK. Can’t wait!
plus:
3.30pm: Sean Bennett - A veritable masterclass in delay, loops and layers. Wonderful. 4.30pm: Sam Cooke - A far too talented teenager that will make you wish you’d carried on your guitar lessons. 5.30pm: Mick Flaherty - Acoustic guitar, loop station, could go anywhere 6.30pm: Ashes & Clark - A two piece with big tunes and fantastic harmonies.
Monday
Liverpool bandsoc acoustic showcase
Starts 7:00pm
We’ve taken ten or so of the best up and coming artists from Liverpool Uni, handed them a guitar and a microphone and let them do what comes naturally to them! No not get drunk, play music. The Band Society have only recently held their annual Battle Of The Acoustics, so we’re looking forward to the wealth of talent on show at this one.
349 smithdown road One of our favourite new additions to Smithdown Road, Caffee Oro makes some incredible food, and incredible coffee too. Now we’ll be taking over and making some incredible music too. All weekend!
ovvls
Saturday
9:30pm
Experimental band that flirt with psychedelia, post-punk, and rock n roll sounds without ever pledging allegiance to one. They may be ethereal and eclectic, but with powerful drums as a driving force, they remain within the realm of a true rock act.
Super special guests.
8:30pm
We don’t want to ruin the surprise, but One Direction, Justin Bieber and 90's heart throbs Let Loose have all officially ruled themselves out of this slot. Sorry.
Venus De milo 7:30pm
With their latest single Sinking Ships ironically making pretty big waves at the moment, we are delighted to have these guys here. Definitely ones to watch!
plus:
3.30pm: Lucy Mayhew - With a sound somewhere between Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell, this is one of two sets Lucy will be playing this weekend! 4.30pm: Katie & I - An incredible alternate blend of acoustic folk, intimate vocals and harmonies 5.30pm: DeMille - Soulful heartfelt jazz pop, with beautifully crafted vocals 6.30pm: Pangea - Melodic indie funk, like the illegitimate love child of Chic and The 1975.

Sunday
the buffalo riot 9:30pm
A Synaesthetic influenced slice of NeonCountry Rock. Comprised of some of the city’s finest musical talents, they produce sparkling songs with infectious delivery. Debut album 'Pale Blue Oceans will be released later this month. Take the chance to catch them in this intimate venue while you still can!
del florida
8:30pm
Originally based in Gainesville, Florida, singer and songwriter Leela made a big impact in the music scene and strives to accomplish no less in Liverpool!
plus:
2.30pm: Laura & Claire - Proving the rule that two heads are indeed better than one! 3.30pm: Matthew McGurty - Totally energetic blues rock to really kick start your afternoon. 4.30pm: Johanna Alba - We are chuffed to have the German poetic pop songstress here with her band 5.30pm: Luna - One of the Echo’s top 10 picks for the weekend! Don’t miss her!. 6.30pm: The Blurred Sun Band - Time to chill out, relax and let the blurred grooves take you on a mystical journey 7.30pm: The Floormen - Psychedelic groove outfit bring you new sounds and sensations.
