One person dead following fire on Victoria Avenue EVELYN HARFORD eharford@metroland.com One fatality has been reported following an early morning fire in Smiths Falls, Monday, May 7. The name of the deceased has not been confirmed pending notification of next of kin. The Smiths Falls Fire Department responded to a fire at 80 - 82 Victoria Ave. at approximately 1:35 a.m. Mutual Aid from the Montague Fire Department and Perth Fire Department was called. Smiths Falls Police Service also responded to the scene. The fire was contained to the third-floor unit. The property housed six apartments. The Town of Smiths Falls confirmed in a media release that all other residents are accounted for and have been temporarily housed.
