Registered shoots in March 2024 with SCTP Options
March was a busy month for tournaments in the Southeast hosting Big Blast shoots and also offering SCTP concurrent options. SCTP athletes are not only competing between teams and clubs, they are expanding their shooting ability and improving their skills by participating in monthly and large big blast shoots throughout the southeast.

The Gator Cup which was originally Kicked off in Florida on February of 2015 at Quail Creek Plantation with full support from Whit Hudson, Fred and Maria Fanizzi is now part of “The Backwoods Quail Club” with Rick Hemingway, family and staff that makes you feel part of the family when visiting and shooting there. Backwoods Quail Club is a beautiful facility just outside of Georgetown, South Carolina and they have a history of putting on great big blast shoots.
Rick Hemingway, Fred and Maria Fanizzi are Hugh supporters of youth shooting and it shows with everything they do. Again, this year the Gator Cup had a SCTP concurrent option with 92 SCTP youth shooters from 9 states.

2024 Florida State Shoot
The Florida Sporting Clays Association (FSCA) has long been a supporter for our youth SCTP teams and athletes in Florida. The FSCA has for years supported our youth SCTP State Championship with donations to reduce the entry fees in Sporting Clays event for each athlete, support for trophies and waived state fees for this event. The FSCA added a SCTP concurrent in the 2024 State Shoot and purchased belt buckles for trophies.
The 2024 Florida State shoot was hosted at “The South Florida Shooting Club” a premier shooting destination in Palm City, Florida. The Florida State Shoot 200 Target main event was shot on 2 courses, the Gator course and the Sandhill Course with Mick Howells and Bill McGuire as target setters. The weather held out and for the 413 shooters that participated in the four days of shooting competition that included two preliminary events, five stand, super sporting, FITASC, 20 gauge, 28gauge, 410 bore concluding with the Main event. Abbey Wigh is currently an ACUI/SCTP athlete with Saint Leo College Team. Abbey had a very busy March competing at several events across the USA.
First was the USA Shooting Olympic Selection match in Tucson Arizona which was the 2nd part of the National

with approximately 175 participants; most of which were in attendance for part 1 earlier this year in Hillsdale, Michigan.
The National Team is made up of the Top 6 men and women and the Junior Nationals team in Team is made up of the Top 4 men & women under 21. Abbey has secured a spot on the Junior National Team and will be competing Internationally at the Junior World Cup in Porpetto, Italy this July, then later this year at the Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru.
Abbey then flew out to San Antonio the following Monday morning to join her team from Saint Leo College in the ACUI/ SCTP College National Championship.
Here, Abbey Competed in the “Classic All Around” (CAA) at the ACUI/SCTP Collegiate National Championship. The CAA consists of Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays. Abbey took 3rd placed and enjoyed these two weeks of competition before returning to Florida.
These are just a few examples of how successful our Florida SCTP athletes are in Junior Olympic events.
CongratulationsAbbey Wigh!

Sorry this is getting out so late, State Shoot took up the first part of the month and it has been a whirlwind since then. If you want to improve your skeet game I highly recommend the skeet camp June 1-2 in Palatka. I have been going to the camp for over 11 years, coaching and bringing my son. The coaches are great and we spend a lot of personal time with the students and their game. You can’t get a better weekend of coaching any where for a student’s skeet game.
Hope to see you there..
Have a great month!

The important thing is to learn a lesson every time you lose. Life is a learning process and you have to try to learn what's best for you. Let me tell you, life is not fun when you're banging your head against a brick wall all the time.

If any teams ever want to come to Tampa Bay Sporting Clays and shoot the international bunker with the Tampa Bay Clays we would welcome that. We hold practices on Sundays from 11AM to 2PM. We will be glad to assist in coaching the shooters on how to shoot the international bunker as well. All we ask is that you please let us know in advance that you are coming as we wouldn’t want you to show up and nobody be there. Tampa Bay Sporting Clays
