Markham Park Gun Club Youth Program Mondays 6-9

Recently attended the Florida Skeet Shooting Youth Camp in Palatka. We had 39 Youth shooters attending the two day camp. All the 7 skeet fields were filled with kids and coaches. The Youth shooters are sorted as to their level of shooting ability and appropriate coaches are assigned to each group.

My coaching partner Larry Gatz and I coached 4 intermediate shooters. We had a great time coaching these young shooters and catching up with Youth shooters we had coached from previous years and the other coaches. Thanks to Ken Keth this was a wonderful weekend. Hope you can attend next year!

Have agreat month!

Important Reminder, Requirement to attend Nationals “your athletes must have competed in one of the SCTP State Team Championships”. If you have an athlete going to Nationals that did not compete in one of the two State Championships in Florida, but had an athlete competed in the SE Regionals, please send me a request with brief explanation, I will send it to the SCTP National Office through our SE Regional Director for approval from the SCTP National Office and National Director.

Per the SCTP Handbook Official Rules 11. B.
SCTP Athletes must compete in any of the SCTP State Team Championships in the state where they are registered to be eligible to attend the SCTP National Team Championships and compete in any or all disciplines. For exceptions to this rule, approval from SCTP Na-

tional Office and National Director must be obtained.
Secondly remember teams are preparing for the next season through recruiting, as you sign up new athletes you must verify you are the closest team per section H) Team Placement Rules. Please contact your state advisors for help in determining/verifying the closest team to that athlete.

Your State Advisors will be attending Nationals to assist the National Staff where needed again this year. If you have issues, need our assistance, while attending please reach out to us.

Best Regards,

Coaches:
This is to remind you that 2024 SASP Nationals Registration opens at Noon Central time 05-29-24. Reminder, to lock in a squad it needs your team, a squad name, and at least one athlete. We know it will be crazy as always with the exception of the seven teams that each donated 25 or more Safety Officer shifts at Nationals last year. Their 399 entries were already entered into SHOT by John. Your team could take advantage of this preregistration opportunity for 2025 Nationals by registering to be safety officers and scorers at this Signup Genius link. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0B45ABAB2BA 0FB6-2024/149751874 We need all shifts to be registered in Signup Genius.
Please enter your squads completely by June 4th. We will be temporarily closing the match registration on June 4th at noon to start deleting any hoarded squads. If you have any final partial squads for nationals, send a list of your team’s partial squads to John at john@mysasp.com before June 4th at noon. This way we can delete the unneeded squads and help the teams that still need slots that have sent those requests by email to John. Once we have cleared anything not needed, opened blocked squads for all the partial squads and have helped teams needing additional slots, we will reopen the Nationals match. It will remain open until it closes for the event on 06-30-2024 at Midnight central time. Please make any last minute squadding adjustment before then.
We will be placing our Nationals shirt order also on June 4th. Please check and verify all your athletes shirt sizes are correct before registering tomorrow.
Reminder that Rookie squads must have athletes in the first slots then add any ghosts. Not doing this sometimes prevents squads from showing up in awards.
Additional reminder per our handbook “All team entry fees must be paid in full for Nationals by June 24th each year, or your slots will be opened for others to register. No refund for cancellations after July 1st .”
Any questions please let us know. We look forward to seeing everyone again at Nationals.
Thanks,
Rick
The weekend of May 4, six teams from Florida competed in the USA Shooting State Junior Olympic Shotgun Championship and the Scholastic Clay Target Sports Florida State International Bunker Trap Championship, held this year at Palm Beach County Shooting Sports Complex in West Palm Beach. The Palm Beach County Shooting Sports Complex is a beautiful public shooting facility jointly build by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Palm Beach County. It features supervised rifle and handgun ranges and automated sporting clays, 5stand, skeet, and American and Olympic trap fields.
Michael Chubb and Staff facilitated, organized, and hosted these events. Athletes competed in both the USA Shooting Junior Olympic and the Florida SCTP State Championship events simultaneously.
In Junior Olympic International Bunker Trap each athlete participated in 5 rounds of 25 targets each round shooting at 125 targets over the course of the day. The targets emerge at around 68 mph from an underground bunker that contains 15 throwing machines. They are computer controlled and programed so each shooter is presented with the same set of targets during the round.
SCTP College Team Competition Tampa Bay Clays placed 1st with Fishhawk Dynasty placing 2nd. Men’s Collegiate athlete Brendan Lam of Fishhawk Dynasty 1st. Women’s Collegiate athletes Aiko Coloso of Tampa Bay Clays 1st, Abbey Wigh of Fishhawk Dynasty 2nd and Heidi Griner of Tampa Bay 3rd .
SCTP Senior Team Competition Fishhawk Dynasty placed 1st , Hot Shots of South Florida 2nd and Ridge Clays 3rd. Ladies Senior athletes Molly Elliott of Ridge Clays placed 1st. Men’s Senior athletes Bryan Holtkamp of Hot Shots of South Florida 1st, Tony Meola of Tampa Bay Clays 2nd and Lance Grenevicki of Vero Beach Elite 3rd .
SCTP Men’s Intermediate David Holm of Fishhawk Dynasty 1st, Marco Pratico of Tampa Bay Clays 2nd and Carlin Bennett of Central Florida Smokin Guns 3
Special Thanks to Bill Cline and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Palm Beach County Shooting Sports Complex in West Palm Beach, Michael Chubb and Staff, Daryl Patrick of Tampa Bay Clays and Dan Wigh of Fishhawk Dynasty and the SCTP Regional and National Staff for working with the Florida State Advisors to make this shoot a success.
Florida Facilities that have Bunker Trap for practice currently are, Palm Beach County Shooting Sports Park, Tampa Bay Sporting Clays and Gator Skeet and Trap. Visit one of these sites and give Bunker Trap a try, it is challenging and fun.
