CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE OF SPACES (CUSTOMS, BELIEFS AND RITUALS,ECONOMIC,POLITICAL)
Mardana Baithak, mahal/mol Tibari in outer court connecting entrance to inner court known as baithak ,these spaces were restricted to male members of the house. It was an accountants office in the haveli, restricted to male section. The baithaks were decorated lavishly as to demarcate the social status in the ground floor and mol at first floor decorated with gold ceiling as they were traders of opium and gold.

Openings and jharokhas Openings and niches , jharokhas and balconies.
Interiors and Ornamentation s Interiors , Vertical demacrcations- brackets , jalis, parapets. Horizontal demarcations- columns The staircase as a transition zone was often in the form of a dark narrow passage with small niches at the corner on a landing for keeping candles. A small entrance is provided at the back for entry and exit of women of the household considering the privacy factor. Nohra term used for the annexe area. It is a big outer court used for keeping the rath and palakis and for tying horses, elephants or cattle. Also used as other term for toilet that’s located at the back side of the haveli as these are activities related to soiling of house and haveli was considered sacred.
The size of Ground floor opening had small peeping window through niches .This laced façade helps in mainting privacy of women. These were delicately carved reminding of richness
Light colour interior to reflect light within the space .The murals and interiors is inspired from the Rajput, Mughal as well as Victorian architecture. The lattice work brackets indicated the trade patwas dealt with. Delicately carved out of sand stone, representing the status symbol of family.
