CONTEXT / PURPOSE:

CONTEXT:

The purpose of ‘Adopt A Band’ for us is to familiarise ourselves with client work as well as gaining experience within the music sector and learning targeted campaign logistics, marketing strategies, project management. Finding ways to start a proffesional conversation between creatives and potential clients.

As we are aiming to target muscians our context for where we place things like flyers posters etc will be very specific to where musicans go. These places will include gig venues, music college, record stores and music orientated bars. BRIEF SEVEN

Adopt A Band will be based around the concept of ‘Adoption’. We are looking to find bands and to ‘adopt’ them and take card of their design needs. We will use the adoption concept in a playful manor where it is appropriate, either through the use of copywriting or through visuals,

To develop the logo we have looked at things that are associated with children, to reflect the concept of our adopt a band, but we also done want the logo to look childish. We thought about what adoption is, and came up with caring which you can do through hands. Which then developed on to creating shapes with interlocked hands. This wiggle shape which represent the

interlocked hands is an image that is bold enough to work on its own as a symbol, which will be memorable. For the typeface I want to develop it on child alphabet blocks this will be a way of choosing a typeface that will represent the concept. BRIEF SEVEN

We have looked into things that are assosiated with adoption and children so that we have a better understanding of how emmulate this concept and ways in which we can gear it more towards musicians in a playful manor.

We have looked into music promotion so that we can gain an understanding into the type of design that appeals to musicians / music fans. It has been benifical to see the the range of design that appeals to musicians as we are now aware there is not a style. BRIEF SEVEN

FLYER: The flyer is what hold the most information. From researching the context of where we would place our printed promotional goods we found that flyers are the most promising things to use as the informational pieces as people pick them up and read them when they are waiting for things like drinks. They are convinient becasue of the size and can be placed in

POSTER: numerous places/locations. The flyer is a playful twist on Micheal Angelos hands. We wanted to inclued our hands inthe shot as we feel hands are a good symbol of caring. The bass guitar is placed in a nappy to show the adoption concept which as it involves an instrument, will catch the musicians eye.

The poster features a lot less information as we want it to act more as an entising piece which will draw peoples anttention and intreeg and they will therefore go on the website and see what Adopt A Band is / they will remember the poster and name so if they come acroos any other Adopt A Band promotion they will recognise it.

ADOPTION PROCESS: Once a band has emailed us and expressed their intrest to find out more we have a PDF at the ready to send back. The PDF is labbled the Adoption Process and it illustrates our beliefs in a manifesto style stating what we do, and do not, do. The Adoption Process then goes on to show the work we do and end with posing the question if they want to work with us.

The Adopt Process aims to demonstrate who we are and what we do. Band will be able to read through it and decided if we are right for them, as we want this adoption process to be a good relationship, just like in a real life adopting both sides of the party have to be a match. Once they have decided they can email us back if they want to work with us and the process will start.

We have created a website as we feel this is a very user friendly way of getting peoples attention. Band can go on the website and find out more detatil about what Adopt A Band is and then if they are interested they can then send us an email and find our further infromation.

Twitter will be used as a way of scouting band online. Many bands us twitter in a similar way but they use it to scout record labels / gain fans. By following bands and music related acounts we will be able to gain a bigger online presence which will spread a wider campaign than the printed promotional goods. For this reason all the promotion made will also be digitised.
