LETTER FROM THE EDITOR It’s the holidays, and we’re all thinking about what presents we will give, pouring through magazines and websites to find what’s hot and what’s not, the latest and greatest gadgets, the surefire stocking-stuffers. Presents for friends, loved ones, colleagues, family. It’s fun to give and to think about the people to whom you are giving— their interests, their idiosyncrasies, their dreams, their desires. Such things bring us pleasure in life because ultimately, if we give in earnest and with love, the act of giving is a selfless act that promulgates kindness towards others and moves us, at least for a moment, away from our narcissistic tendencies. The result: a joyous holiday season. In this issue, you will find numerous ideas for gift giving. We provide you with the latest trends in fashion, décor, and beauty. In addition to purchasing presents, you will also read about other ways you give. We are part of a community that is larger than just our families and friends.
There are many among us this season who are in need, and there are many ways we can participate in serving those in need in our community. Enjoy a time of giving, and have a happy holiday season! “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill “It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” – Mother Teresa “You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.” – Amy Wilson-Carmichael

To tie the tree into your room, incorporate one of your accent colors in pops with ornaments or ribbons. Designer’s tip: Use wire to tie (don’t hang) each ornament for the perfect placement and to ensure your valuable family ornaments don’t drop if a guest brushes against the tree. Use your personal hobbies and interests as inspiration. One of my clients loved electronics, so I used hard drives, fiber optic cables and even keyboards to fill in the tree. Another client who is a painter wanted some of her artwork displayed within the tree, and I turned her old brushes into unique ornaments. so6ix.com | DECEMBER 2012

hernias resulting from previous surgeries. You must also recreate the belly button in an artistic way. Finally, we are left with the skin. It is the skin that can manifest many problems, and liposuction will make that worse. How can you tell if you need liposuction or a tummy tuck? The answer is not always clear. There are some things to look for to help you decide. If your stomach has a lot of stretch marks, particularly in the lower portion, then a tummy tuck could benefit you by removing a lot of the damaged skin. If your skin has large folds of extra skin, that is another sign that you need more than liposuction. Belly buttons that are shaped like a frown and cesarean scars that create a fold over the pubis also require a tummy tuck. You should bring a change of clothes for the end of the challenge, as we will be getting down and dirty. Towels would be good accessories: Remember “So6ix Plunge” at the end? Yeah, you do! Private, warm changing tents await you at the end. The course is rugged, but it’s designed so that beginning and advanced athletes alike can enjoy it. The race will not be rained out, no, not even if there is rain! Register now as the limit is 3,000 competitors. Don’t bring your dogs; we can’t have them here on the property with so much going on. Food will be for sale, and Coop Ale Works will be handing out free beer to all 21 and over racers. If you come upon an obstacle you can’t navigate, who cares? STYLE The show-stopper beaded gown has been around for decades. From the 1920 beaded flapper dress to the floor length gown, beads have always been a deluxe embellishment. Depending on the party, wear your cocktail sequin dress by French Connection for a fun and flirty look. This gives the appearance of a classic style with a little sophistication.
THE HANDBAG For those of you who love sequins, glitz, and shimmer—you will love Ted Baker. His holiday handbag collection is another must to have around your hand for the holiday parties. The London satchel still gives that vintage trendy appeal with the leather top handle and its pill box shape. This bag is everything but ordinary. The glittered exterior and novelty pattern interior fabric is a great combination for this one-of-akind satchel. Do you want a smaller Ted Baker? There is another great holiday bag just as glitzy and sassy as the satchel but in a clutch form. They have a significant bow on the side to give your outfit a little flirtation.
TEXTURED TIGHTS If the beaded gown is not your style or too flashy, you can still have some holiday cheer. Pull out your favorite LBD and wear it with a great pair of textured tights. Most textures give your legs a more slimming look. We know every woman

STYLE dreams of having the appearance of elongated legs. Pretty Polly is a great hosiery brand; the tights last a long time, and Pretty Polly comes out with fun and festive tights for the holidays. This holiday season pair your dress with a sequin or shimmery tight. Your head-to-toe look will be classy yet glitzy. If we are not a fan of shimmer, lace tights are another great texture for the holiday season.
The holidays are not the same without your countdown advent calendar opened, eggnog in the fridge, and a warm fireplace going. This season is very glamorous with all the lace, sequins, and glitter. Your holiday outfit will be complete with any one of these tops trends.

DECEMBER 2012 BY
Dadhichi Toth
www.astrology.com.au
CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 19) You’ll be feeling withdrawn this month, but this gives you a chance to truly “inhabit” your purpose and believe in it totally. Convincing others means convincing yourself first. If you see that something is flawed, you may have to reverse a decision or payment. Be on guard for scam artists.
and the planets bring out your curiosity and desire to see what possibilities are available in terms of a domestic alternatives. Look around, but don’t make premature decisions. Jupiter, one of your ruling planets is now retrograde. Believe it or not, your anxiety could trigger some search for answers that you now need.
ARIES
AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 - FEBRUARY 18) There may be some controversial matters you have to deal with, and this could result in a conflict of interest. Try to be a step ahead of the game, as the situation could take you into the unexpected. You may feel annoyed by someone this month, and in an attempt to remain polite, you may not know how to tell them to get lost. It is easy - simply tell them to get lost.
PISCES
(FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20)
House hunting and for some Pisceans, house selling, is on the cards after the 10th 44
so6ix.com | DECEMBER 2012
(MARCH 21 - APRIL 19)
You are feeling more secure in your domestic environment, but this is no excuse to become a couch potato. Get out and enjoy the world this month. There’s no use crying over spilled milk, or in your case, lost money as you may be lax with finances too.
TAURUS (APRIL 20 - MAY 20) Meditative practices offer you an opportunity to recharge your worn out batteries and also step aside from people who are giving you a hard time. Pay attention to where you leave valuables too at this time. If you’ve got some concern with a friend, lover, or child, these problems should be lifting very shortly.
S AT I R E
SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 - DECEMBER 21) If you seem to be spending more time than your workmates on the same tasks, you should consider that they might be working smarter rather than working harder. Check it out. You need to quicken the pace and be more efficient in the way you conduct your work and live your life during this month. Reappraise the way you use your diary and your time. Speed is a keyword and will be evident after the 12th when the Moon contacts Mars.
GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUNE 20) You could receive a call after the 3rd, but this could be a somewhat dicey proposition. You will win an argument and come out a sure winner, and this will give you an unfair, probably punishing advantage over someone. Your talent in certain directions, however, is not fulfilling you just at this time.
VIRGO (AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22) It is possible that travel expenses may be covered by your place of employment or organization, but the terms may be fuzzy. Be careful. Financial aid will probably prove beneficial from the 24th till the 26th. You are curious about the world just now and want more interaction perhaps through the media of the internet.
You should commence your days this month with a little deep breathing and exercise or meditation. This will generate much more energy and help you cope with your stress. Your intellectual and verbal skills are most recognisable at this time, and you may be called upon to use this talent especially after the 15th.
LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 22) Someone will show you care and attention this month, and this could be something you have not anticipated. A new friendship can commence, but don’t expect things to move all that quickly. In fact, the friendships can almost grind to a halt after the 10th. You have your way of doing things, and this could be at odds with someone, possibly even your boss. Compromise is your key word.
LEO (JULY 23 - AUGUST 22) Although you can make a great impression on others at those meetings or lunch engagements, be cautious if their flattery is over the top. A disappointment in the arena of love doesn’t mean you’re out of the game permanently. This is a month to regroup your energies and get yourself back on track especially from the 7th onwards when the Moon and Venus make contact.
SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 21) Home is where the heart is during the coming few weeks of December. You will have made a domestic change previously but didn’t think it through well enough. If you’ve landed yourself in an environment in which you feel like a fish out of water, you need to reconsider your options; however, you need to wait for the appropriate moment to change again.

REBECCA BRADY Rebecca is a registered nurse, and she is the marketing coordinator for Dr. Juan A. Brou and The Medical Spa located in Oklahoma City. Her journey into plastic surgery was a unique one, as it began by being one of Dr. Brou’s patients herself. Rebecca realized that plastic surgery is so much more than what they show on TV. It’s more than huge lips and egos; it truly changes the way you feel about yourself, and Rebecca wanted to be a part of that. When she graduated with her nursing degree, Rebecca signed on with his very close-knit staff. After working for Dr. Brou for a while, it only reaffirmed to her how caring and talented he is, and Rebecca wanted to showcase that. Rebecca took the marketing position and started building relationships with their patients through social media, making it a more interactive and memorable experience for them. Rebecca also helped design the practice’s new website, www.drbrou.com, and she maintains the site as well. When she is not at the office, Rebecca also owns a photography business, KRK Studios, located in Yukon. Her specialties are maternity, newborn, and family photography. Rebecca’s experience in operating a business, as well as mastering the concept of “multi-tasking” by raising her 3 daughters, has enabled her to take those concepts and ambition and apply them to her strategies at the practice. She is currently pursuing her nurse practitioner degree at The University of Oklahoma and hopes to use those skills in the aesthetic world. Whether it is a dramatic change you’re after or something non-invasive, know that you are in great, capable hands with Dr. Brou and his staff. You can set up a free consultation for medical spa services with Rebecca at any time by calling (405) 945-0001. 60

GRANT PITT Grant Pitt DDS, DPh practices dentistry at Custom Dental of Edmond, and he has practiced in the OKC area for over 5 years. Dr. Pitt is not only a dentist; he is also a graduate of pharmacy school, and he completed a periodontal residency. The concept of Dr. Pitt’s practice is to provide a high level of dental care in all aspects of dentistry, thus reducing the patient’s need to travel to other specialists. His goal is to minimize the patient’s need to fill out more paperwork and meet new office staff associated with a traditional referral style practice. Coupled with many patient contact hours and a relentless pursuit of continuing education, Dr. Pitt has incorporated all dental services under one roof. Dr. Pitt ‘s practice offers fillings, crowns, veneers, bridges, reconstruction, cosmetic dentistry, implants, bone grafting, extractions (yes including wisdom teeth), braces (traditional bracket and wire, and invisalign) and root canals. His practice is not limited to any one specialty. Dr. Pitt’s office utilizes the latest diagnostic equipment to create your optimal dental plan.
