Knowing I was going to 1492 New World Latin Cuisine for dinner this evening, I started thinking about “Latin Cuisine”. It is such a broad description that it made me wonder what to expect. My research left me excited and anxious to see what 1492 can offer. “Covering a region that includes South and Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean, Latin America is expansive and diverse, but one thing is for certain — its food is robust, flavorful and always inventive.” (www.foodnetwork.com) Before we had our coats off, a server came and delivered fresh homemade tortilla chips and fresh salsa. Our server, Hector, was very attentive and throughout the evening gave us exceptional service. Along with great service, great music, great atmosphere, we also had great food…. No, the food was more than great. It was delicious. The menu has something for everyone. We chose the following. It was such a difficult choice that I can’t wait to come back. APERITIVOS/CALDOS/ENSALADAS Queso Fundido Queso Blanco with Mexican Chorizo – Very creamy and the chorizo was a nice addition to the flavor Cocktail Delmar – Tilapia, Lump Crab, and Shrimp “Ceviche” in a pineapple Mango Pico de Gallo. YUMMM!!!!! It’s hard to find good ceviche in Oklahoma these days. This will be my go to place from now on. Ensaladade Fajita – Beef and Chicken Fajita Salad with our House Spicy Vinaigrette The House Spicy Vinaigrette was amazing. The flavors of the dressing, the avocado, and the fajita meat were a wonderful combination. Definitely will order this again. Carne Asada – “Cuban Style” Ribeye, Coconut Rice, Black Beans, Plantains, and Yucca Ribeye - Perfectly Cooked…. Black Beans - Perfectly Cooked…. Coconut Rice - Perfectly cooked… Plantains – Perfectly Cooked…Yucca – Perfectly Cooked… I loved the Yucca. I’m picking some up to serve at my next family event. Kind of like a potato, except better. I was pleasantly surprised with the plantains. They were sweet, light, and delicious. Pabellon – Venezuelan Shredded Brisket Marinated in Red Wine, Accompanied by Yucca, Rice, Black Beans. This Brisket was so good my mouth is watering thinking about it. The marinade gave it such a bold flavor. Great Job 1492!!!! I will see you soon! 44

for you. Increased income, a pay rise or perhaps a lump sum payout after the 22nd will be a welcome relief, especially if you had some extra bills this month. Merry Christmas!.... but don’t spend it all in one go.
CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 19) The focus is on friendship again with the Moon, Saturn and Mercury creating an interesting tug of war for you. You’ll be torn between two or more friends and may need to decide which ones to discard. New friendships can be made after the 15th but you will need to consign them to the weekends as Mars is moving through your career sector. Your time is dominated by professional responsibilities.
AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 - FEBRUARY 18) It’s time to expand and extend your social networks. The new Moon occurs early in the month around the 3rd and you will therefore feel some significant changes in place socially. Venus is luxurious in your zone of hidden activities so you will be planning expenditure on artistic and cultural pursuits but this may also have to do with some secret affair or romantic activities that you’d prefer to keep to yourself.
PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20) You could receive a promotion this month, probably after the 3rd. If not a promotion in the usual sense you will at least feel as though you have achieved something or will receive some good feedback indicating that doors are opening 48

ARIES (MARCH 21 - APRIL 19) Your thinking is big, but your planning may not be in keeping with your capabilities. Dream on if you have to however effectively plan what you want to do and this can be best served around the 3rd, 22nd and 26th. When Mars enters your Sun sign on the 26th you will feel dynamic and capable of doing anything.
TAURUS (APRIL 20 - MAY 20) This is a particularly important time for your selftransformative processes. You will be particularly interested in spiritual and meditative activities. Psychology and philosophy will be spotlighted after the 5th. Many of you may make some new decisions regarding your future direction in life and this will be significant as it will be based upon a deeper understanding of who you are and what you wish for in life.

Meeting new people can help in this respect and that can happen after the 11th. You could overwhelm yourself by taking on too many responsibilities for the Christmas break. Choose your entertainment and social circle carefully. The 25th until the 28th is a very satisfactory period.
CANCER (JUNE 21 - JULY 22) The final month of the year focuses your attention on work, health and other day to day routine affairs. Usually resolutions are made in the first part of the year but it is a good idea for you to commence things early this month especially around the new Moon which occurs on the 3rd. You’ll continue to attract others due to the combined influence of Venus and Pluto. Don’t to be too obsessive about relationships.
LEO (JULY 23 - AUGUST 22) A new love affair may occur this month as the new Moon is strong in your zone of love affairs. You may however be hamstrung by an existing relationship or one that is not yet fully over. You need to pace yourself and not create obstacles by over involving yourself in too many relationships. A creative pursuit can flourish if you are prepared to put in the time and passion to do so.
VIRGO (AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22) Mercury influences your domestic sphere and
your mother. This makes sense as Christmas is a very important time for these very special people in your life. But this festive season will be intense so plan well, well before Christmas Eve. Love affairs are strong and bright but possibly a little annoying too. Reconciliation is likely between the 18th and the 20th.
LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 22) At this time keep your relationships on even keel and don't demand others do things that do they may seem unreasonable. You have the ability to communicate your ideas in a fair and balanced manner. You may be the focus of attention during the Christmas break and Mars will make you especially active and industrious. Redirect this energy to your domestic sphere and make an extra effort to be cordial with troublesome relatives.
SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 21) You are engaged in travelling, communicating and doing a million and one things this month. Remember that being busy doesn’t necessarily mean you are achieving anything at all. Prioritise. Get your diary in order and by all means investigate what is on offer in terms of new opportunities in the workplace. A new source of income may be acquired by you at this late stage of the year. so6ix.com | DECEMBER 2013

MERRY MCGINNIS IRELAND Owner – The Ruff Life What do a lawyer, lingerie boutique owner, and burlesque aficionado have in common? That would be Merry McGinnis Ireland! During her course of studying law the University of Oklahoma law school, Merry would make her own bras for burlesque and sold a few to make money. She said the combination of always being a lingerie snob and feeling very passionately about women’s rights and sexuality it really pushed her to want to open her own lingerie store. At last she did! The Ruff Life is in the Plaza District and carries bra sizes 32A-40H, vintage clothing from the 1920’s-1970’s and much more. The most rewarding part of her job Merry says is the bra fittings. She loves being able to help women with getting fit into the right sizes and seeing them walk away with confidence. She says a good fitting bra can do wonders from helping with confidence, sexiness, to making you look like you lost 20 pounds. “It’s amazing how people can change when they get the right help they need,” says Merry. The Ruff Life is so much more than just a lingerie shop. Merry overhauled an old Winnebago and it’s available for traveling lingerie showers, burlesque lessons, and much more. Merry has a passion for doing seminars about women’s body confidence and hopes in the future to expand on this more. She wants to be able to do more of these at the shop. A dream of Merry’s is to also own her own line of bras someday. Her one piece of advice to women is to have confidence. It’s the one trait that is so important for every women to be equipped with. This Eugene, Oregon native, when not busy with everything women and lingerie, she loves to go hang out at Saints Bar, which her husband Patrick owns and of course spend her time being mommy to her four-year-old son. You can follow The Ruff Life on Twitter @ therufflifeokc or check out their Facebook page. 60

TY HIRTZEL
Men’s Clothier – Spencer Stone
Meet Ty Hirtzel, men’s clothier at Spencer Stone Company in Nichols Hills. Ty has worked for Spencer Stone for about a year, providing clients with best of class customer service. Ty explained that his favorite part about working at Spencer Stone Co. is being a part of a place where the men of Oklahoma City can come to enjoy the experience of having luxury clothing tailor made or fitted to an unsurpassed standard.
Ty has had a passion for fashion
from a young age. He started working retail at the age of sixteen and really delved into learning about the quality and craftsmanship of the garments. When asked about his personal style, he described it as effortless. Ty said, “I simply purchase garments I like and clothing that represents my personality.”Men, Ty has some advice for you...purchase clothing that fits correctly. He said, “I can often make my clients appear ten pounds thinner simply by tailoring correctly.” Ty went on to say that men like to receive compliments on how they dress, whether they want to admit it or not. He said, “being well dressed provides an extra boost of confidence and also makes you appear to be more credible.” Ty’s future plans are to widen his client base and to continue to learn from Spencer.
Outside of clothing, Ty owns his
own shoe shine business. This came about when he asked a client if his office needed an on-site shoe service. Eventually it started to snowball by word of mouth and has led him to many partners around the city. He is a diehard Thunder fan and a foodie at heart with his favorite local restaurants being Red Prime, Republic Gastro Pub, and Lakeside Grill.Be sure to stop by Spencer Stone in Nichols Hills Plaza and see Ty for all your men’s clothing needs! so6ix.com | DECEMBER 2013
