Who/where do you think you got your creative side from? That side of me comes from a lot of experiences and people. Neither of my parents were artist, but they supported any and everything I did as a kid.
Tell us a little about your philanthropic ways. Being involved in our community has and will always been important to our family. I came from a place of poverty and struggle and I’ve been blessed. So, if we can help impact lives, then sign us up.

Favorite color? In all honesty I don’t have one. As an abstract artist, I love all colors. So picking one is really hard.
Favorite art medium? Another hard question, but I’ll go with the one I’m using the most in my currents works and that’s Acrylic.
Future goals/plans? To be one of the best artists to ever walk the planet and be a part of propelling the next generation of abstract expressionist artist.
Biggest inspiration in life? I have a ton, but number one in my life is my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (He saved me)
Tell us a little about your art studio. My studio is my detachment from reality, for the length of time I’m there. It’s the place where I can completely zone out and create. We all need a place like that.

for support. These are quite pricey, but worth it. • Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Pedic mattresses are one of the most purchased comfort mattresses on the market. They use foam, and consumers rave about how luxurious they are. The great thing about TempurPedic is that they have such a wide selection of different types of mattresses; so no matter what you’re looking for, you can find something that is both affordable and tailored to you.
THE BEDDING • Less is More Popular bedding has been shying away from the abundant pillows and duvet covers. With the simplicity of modern design, there is no reason for twenty pillows and two duvets thrown on a bed. After all, that’s too much work, right? • The Tailored Look New trends have shown that people who are keeping with up-to-date trends are making their bedding look more tailored to the frame. This means that the comforters are not overly “puffy” and they are tucked under the mattress. Also, pillows are aligned so that they don’t overhang the edge of the bed frame. • Solid Colors/Color Blocks Traditional styles typically features floral designs and patterns. The style slowly progressed to the modular or geometric designs, and now they are even simpler. Solid colors, such as black pillows on a grey comforter, with perhaps a couple of smaller red pillows, add just a splash of color that blend well with the rest of the room.

DIGITAL MEASURING CUP AND SCALE Available at: broadwaypanhandler.com A fourth of a half a cup plus a tablespoon is how many gallons? Nobody likes to do the math when cooking and baking. nutrients if you’re trying to stay healthy, and they taste great. The other great thing about them is they are versatile—you can add them to almost anything to amp up the flavor. The one drawback to this great food: preparing it! Usually you need a knife to cut it open, a fork or other utensil to get the enormous seed out (which always seems to be inconveniently “suction cupped” to the inside), and a spoon or rubber spatula to get the flesh out. This four-in-one tool not only makes it easier, but it means fewer utensils to clean. It has a serrated edge to cut the avocado open, a scoop to carve out the seed, and on the other end it has a slotted masher. 26

ROCOCO If you’re like me, you are “Friends” or a “Fan” of many local restaurants. You probably see posts every day about a lunch or dinner special but just keep scrolling, not taking the time to read the post. I do, until I get to Rococo’s or Owner Bruce Rinehart’s posts about what he and the other chefs are up to that particular day. They catch my eye with mouthwatering pics of delicious lunch and dinner dishes. Until now, I hadn’t treated myself to lunch at Rococo’s. My experience had only been Thanksgiving Dinner 2012 (which was absolutely phenomenal) and a Sunday Brunch, both of which have unique menus. When we arrived, at the Penn location, we were greeted politely by the wait staff, and sat immediately (which I find very important during the lunch hour). Soon after, we were pleasantly surprised when the owner, Bruce Rinehart, came to our table, introduced himself, and let us know what menu items he considers to be their specialties (primarily seafood). The restaurant was decorated with rich colors; fine dining linens & glassware, beautiful artwork, all brilliantly combined, offering elegance and class. It is the perfect setting for a lunch date, romantic dinner, or a professional business lunch. As for the food, we decided to follow Mr. Rinehart’s lead and order a few different seafood items along with menu items we were personally curious about. APPETIZERS: (Yes, plural) French Onion Soup - If you like soup, you have to try it… it was perfect. Little Neck Clams – Honestly, I have not been a fan of clams in the past, but had to try them. The light wine sauce was delightful and gave a completely unique and delicious flavor. Crab Cakes – I’ve seen the pics of these crab cakes on social media several times and couldn’t wait to try them. They definitely did NOT disappoint. LOTS of crab, cooked perfectly with a nice crust, but still moist on the inside. LUNCH: Mushroom Risotto – Very rich and creamy, cooked beautifully. Definitely recommend it. Chef Jason’s Wild Salmon Program – Large cut of salmon, grilled to perfection. Great job Chef! DESSERT: Chef Bruce’s Warm Chocolate Pudding Cake – If you like chocolate, if you like cake, if you like pudding………It’s a must have. 28

www.astrology.com.au
SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 - DECEMBER 21) On the 3rd, an eclipse kicks the month off with rather startling results spiritually. You may have dream experiences that are difficult to understand. Remain open to these influences as these are more intuitive rather than practical in nature. Many secrets and hidden mysteries of your past will be revealed to you. There are problems with work between the 8th and the 15th. Don’t be impulsive as Mars at the apex of your horoscope makes you feel dominant and rash. Slow down and take your time making long term decisions.
CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 19) You may wish to lay low but will be forced to interact with others this month. This can cause inner tension for you. You could be confused and lacking in motivation over the reason you are doing things, so this month it bodes well for you to enquire into yourself as to whether or not your path is really what you want to pursue. When Venus enters your sun sign this month, you’ll find the second and third weeks of the month a lot more harmonious and fulfilling. Your frustrations should pass quickly.
AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 - FEBRUARY 18) This time of the year indicates promotions, more energy and satisfaction in your work and 32

great success. Don’t blow it. Although you have continuing responsibilities in this part of your life, due to the slow moving presence of Saturn, you come out ahead and achieve wonderful things. The Sun and Jupiter enter into a perfectly wonderful relationship on the 13th indicating good fortune, luck and a breakthrough at last. The other excellent aspect likely to trigger some new activities, is the Mars and Jupiter contact on the 20th.
PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20) Your popularity will increase in November due to Venus. Friendships are powerful after the 5th and you may not realise just how respected you are by others. Know where to draw the line and say no if people are expecting too much from you however. The Sun and Jupiter continue to bring good fortune and after the 13th, with the Sun entering your zone of professional accomplishments after the 22nd. You could look forward to this being the start of an excellent cycle in your career life.
ARIES (MARCH 21 - APRIL 19) You are lucky this month and you will feel the effects of the Sun and Jupiter around the 9th, and the 26th. Excellent aspects also occur on the 25th, 26th, 27th, and 28th. Be receptive to those lucky vibrations. You may be tired from adding too much work to your already heavy load. Also burning the candle at both ends socially is not going to do you any favours in your professional activities. Prioritise your work this month.
S AT I R E
SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 21) This is the time to shine financially thanks to Venus activating your zone of finance. However you need to be on guard as extravagances which undermine your ability to get ahead. Remember it’s not what you earn but what you save that counts. You have a dynamic aspect between Mars and Pluto and your will power is strong now. In fact you may be called upon to render assistance to those who lack the same drive and commitment that you do now. You can act as a mentor and inspire others.
TAURUS (APRIL 20 - MAY 20) Take care with contract or other important negotiations particularly between the 3rd and the 10th. You could miss vital aspects of the agreement which you may regret later. Dealing with loans, taxes and other shared resources will be a focus during the month of November but other aspects of your life should go smoothly for the most part.
GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUNE 20) You are full of love this month but may also be a little obsessive about the person you are interested in. Pluto needs to be managed well by you otherwise it could destroy you. Try to find other activities to give your compulsive emotions are positive upward turn especially between the 6th and the 15th. You may want to do some work on your home and will get more physical by keeping fit.
CANCER (JUNE 21 - JULY 22) November is an intense month for romance once again. With the Sun, Mercury and Saturn along with your karmic planets influencing your romantic affairs you will be in two minds as to whether to stop or start, come or go. Balance is the key word for you and you must under no circumstances rush things. Venus enters your zone of marriage and public relations later in the month so be patient and all will work out for the best.
LEO (JULY 23 - AUGUST 22) Changing house, expanding your living space and having a spring cleaning will be some of the factors that need to be addressed this month. It's time to turn over a new leaf in terms of what makes you feel good in your domestic surroundings. If you've been with people who annoy you, now is the time to clean the slate and start afresh. Investment in housing may be an attractive option this month particularly from the 2th to the 26th.
VIRGO (AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22) You will deeply reconsider your thinking, oral communication and studies. It may be time for many Virgos to investigate what sorts of alternative work, study and lifestyles they wish to pursue during this period of their lives. It’s time to retool, retrain, learn new skills. The 22nd to the 24th is a key period relating to this and you may be presented an exciting new path to follow.
LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 22) Money continues to be a major issue and with the new Moon focused on material resources you will do something new in your work. Pool your resources with friends and start a new business venture or ask your boss for that extra pay rise. Travels are on the cards too and even a short journey should be pleasant with people you love being with. And upliftment in profession is likely after the 22nd or 23rd. so6ix.com | NOVEMBER 2013

ASHLEY SMITH Owner of Brass Bell Studios
Ashley Smith is the owner and artist of Brass Bell Studios in Oklahoma City, in addition to a tattoo artist at No Regrets Tattoo. Let us tell you, this girl can do it all! The definition of a creative individual, Ashley said her mom definitely encouraged her to always be artistic and creative for as long as she can remember. She has been tattooing now for six years. Years ago when driving by the building Brass Bell Studios is located in, she knew that she had always wanted to rent it and create a low-key art gallery. She had plenty of art friends, tools, materials, supplies, etc. that she decided to go for it and has created not only an art studio/gallery, but her own personal minimalistic living space. Her favorite thing about the art gallery is the casual atmosphere. They’re (co-owner Tanner Frady & Ashley) able to host art shows for artists that have never had a show. It’s not so formal, not so intimidating. Ashley explained it as more of a party, not like a fancy art opening. They will often have a bar tender and Frank’s Wurst serving food! In addition to her tattooing and studio, Ashley makes jewelry, paints on the Oklahoma Maps sold at DNA Gallery, and pinstriping on many different items including pocketknives. Believe it or not, her jewelry making came about after she was intrigued by fishing lures in Bass Pro Shop. The most rewarding thing Ashley partakes in is her tattooing she says. She explained that she is giving someone a permanent piece of her artwork to always carry with them. Shows are the first Sunday of every month and open to the public. You can find out who is showing on Brass Bell Studios Facebook. Come see Ashley at the Deluxe Indie Craft Bazaar Nov. 30-Dec. 1. If you’re interested in any of her artwork for purchase, email VikingForHire@me.com. 44

MATT CARTER Co-Owner GEM Outdoor Living
Matt Carter and Alex Godinez always enjoyed working outside and it seemed that they kept doing it so why not make a business out of it? Roughly five years ago GEM Outdoor Living came to life. The boys put together a team and quickly started gaining business. They’re in their busiest part of the season with Christmas light installations. GEM offers everything from landscape services to water features, irrigation, outdoor kitchens and so much more. When asked what their favorite part was, Matt explained it was all about the people. He explained that seeing that looks on their faces when they complete something before deadline or showing their great appreciation for GEM.
For them, the good definitely
outweighs the bad. When asked, “what’s a typical day,” Alex said, not having a typical day. That’s what makes it fun for them. They are given many obstacles and get it done, that’s what is rewarding.
Right now most
of their business stretches from Edmond to Norman. Matt’s advice to readers is to do their research before hiring any landscaping company or individual. He says too many people out there get taken advantage of, so really do your research. Outside of work, Matt loves to do anything outside or go to the gym. Alex is still a kid at heart he says, he will make anything fun. For all of your outdoor needs, check out gemokc.com. so6ix.com | NOVEMBER 2013
