For this month's boutique spotlight we traveled to the renovated CK & Company in Nichols Hills Plaza. Walking into the large open boutique, the patron is immediately impressed with the layout of the store. They can expect to be greeted with a friendly smile. I enjoyed meeting all the sales associates and personal shoppers at CK & Co. Everyone was knowledgeable about the designers they carry, current trends, and how a garment fits on each shopper. You can find designers such as DVF, Vince, Tory Burch, Lafayette 148 and many more. They strive to provide the best customer service to enhance the overall shopping experience whether it be in store or online.

I really wanted to showcase a neutral color story with the garments I chose from the boutique. Creams, nudes and pinks with fabulous gold jewelry is a classic summer look.

Be sure to go visit CK & CO this month and mention you saw them in So6ix! 14

JUNE WISHLIST BY

Britta Newton

For this month's wish list I was overwhelmed with possibilities. How am I supposed to pick only a handful of beauty items I want? I quickly had a list of over 30. In order to narrow it down I thought 'what is the most essential beauty tool? What do I have on my face when I feel the most beautiful?' The answer was nothing! Playing dress up and having fun with eyeshadow colors is a fantastic part about being a vibrant, and playful member of society. Would my duck face self pictures be as adorable if I wasn't lined, filled in and glossed? Would my eyelashes still create a heavy eyed come hither look if they weren't layered with four coats of mascara? Honestly, I do not have an answer for you. As a young woman, the hardest part in staying beautiful is just that, staying beautiful. We ruin our skin with the foods we consume, the harsh scrubs, not wearing sun screen and who knows what else. Eyelashes fall out when we sleep in our lustful gob of mascara, and then we put fake ones on.

I decided to go on a summer beauty renovation and I hope you all will join me. MY SUMMER REJUVENATION WISH LIST 1. Water. Tons of it- at least eight 8 ounce glasses per day. 2. Sweat. Exercising in a local studio or even with a DVD in your living room will tone, and break up tension in your muscles. 3. Natural Purifiers. Foods such as salmon, sweet potatoes, snapper, kiwi, sunflower seeds and turkey are rich in nutritious value they cleanse skin inside and out. 4. Minimal makeup. This one is going to be tough. I do not mean no makeup at all. Just no foundations or powders that completely conceal your natural beautiful skin and clog pores. 5. Cold cream. Washing your face off with a cold cream every night. A harsh chemical that takes all your natural oils is damaging and you need those oils to help protect from wrinkles! 6. Organic fruit scrub. I have found and tested a great home made fruit scrub (recipe on the next page) 7. Minimal alcohol consumption. Late nights and excessive drinking is harmful to your health. 8. Velcro rollers. Using these no heat options for curls and volume will give your hair a break from the blow drying and hot tools. 9. SLEEP! No more dark circles. Log out of your Netflix and wind down an hour before bedtime. Use this time to read or take a bath before you sleep. 10. Last but not least- Laugh. I'm always drawn to a giggle. Mother Nature won't keep you from wrinkling no matter how much you pay. Wouldn't you rather have smile lines than furrowed brow lines? 24

S AT I R E

JUNE 2013 BY

Dadhichi Toth

www.astrology.com.au

CANCER (JUNE 21 - JULY 22) It’s time to re-evaluate many of your attitudes, desires and objectives. Along with this your relationships should also be under scrutiny. Between the 6th and the 10th you may need to pull back and re-appraise some directional commitment that you have given, understanding that the circumstances have now changed.

LEO (JULY 23 - AUGUST 22) Friendships are high on your agenda but you may also need to sort out some problems with your existing peer group, an individual in particular. For fear of offending others you may bite your tongue and then regret this later. At the end of the day, whatever difficulties you may experience will be to your advantage as there are strong indications that a new friendship or acquaintance can be made sometime this month.

VIRGO (AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22) You could experience a lot of fun through your professional activities and meet new people. Between the 8th and the 14th you can travel or connect with people that have different views to you. Try to remain open to the opposite point of view even if you don't initially agree with it. You will find yourself growing in leaps and bounds by remaining open to what is possible. You will be serious after the 20th so try to keep it light. 28

so6ix.com | JUNE 2013

LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 22) This month your good luck may come in the form of travel, financial opportunities or even spiritual insights if you are the more evolved type of Libra. You have an extremely busy month and from the 1st to the 15th you may find yourself completely overstretched. The 16th of the 18th should see you in a more relaxed state of mind that this will require you stepping away from the crowd to do so.

SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 21) This is a transformative month and Venus, Jupiter, the Sun and Mars bring to the surface a lot of hidden fears and desires. This is not necessarily bad as you can re-initiate some spiritual aspects of your personality and make some strong moves forward in this area. With Mercury prompting you to travel, you may also find yourself looking at foreign affairs and cultures to stimulate you and fulfill some of your buried desires for travel.

SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 - DECEMBER 21) New partnerships, and this includes business

S AT I R E

GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUNE 20) You are full of energy and vitality so find an appropriate outlet for this. Between the 6th and the 15th take care when driving, especially if you are running out of time. Mishaps are likely and you can be rather impulsive in your decisions. Think your actions through before embarking on them! You continue to make slow but steady progress in your work. relationships as well, may be off to a good start but your impulses will have you overlooking some key attributes of the person or issues surrounding your affiliation. Look more carefully at others motives. Sexual endeavors pay off after the 3rd but between the 4th and the 7th confusion may set in and your passions may be thwarted and under a cloud. Journeys may take place after the 8th.

CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 19) Cement old friendships, commence new relationships and to actively expand your network of connections in the world. Between the 4th and the 8th you may have some sudden twists and turns in work but this will be alleviated by fun times after the 9th and some opportunities to increase your professional standing between the 12th and the 15th.

AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 - FEBRUARY 18) Your zone of love affairs and creativity is also nicely activated through the presence of Mars, the Sun, Jupiter and Venus; and this means you will for the most part, particularly after the 6th, be looking at meeting new people or at least taking your existing relationships to a new level. After the 19th you may feel somewhat disillusioned by work but this may only be a temporary state of mind for a couple of days though.

PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20) You are thinking about love this month but divided loyalties could make it difficult for you to find the time. You will need to be shrewd to manage the family affairs as well as a new love affair. Things may move smoothly, almost unrealistically, between the 7th and the 12th but after the 13th your first impressions may take a sharp turn left. Don’t rush anything this month in the way of love.

ARIES (MARCH 21 - APRIL 19) Take care of your health this month as the Sun's transit into your zone of physical and mental well-being is strongly highlighted. Begin a new exercise regime and also look carefully at how you can improve your diet, especially after the 21st. You are compelled to say or do something that you may regret on or about the 30th. Think carefully before doing so.

TAURUS (APRIL 20 - MAY 20) There could be problems with finances this month, but these will be made worse if you choose to argue with others. Try not to let your ego get in the way of reasonable negotiations especially if you are in business. These issues could get worse towards the end of the month particularly in the first week of the month. Working through family relationships will be an important component of finding peace of mind. so6ix.com | JUNE 2013

TIFFANY DAWSON Tiffany Dawson is a hair stylist at DK Salon in Oklahoma City. She specializes in cuts, colors, creative styling and extensions. Dawson has been working at DK Salon for five years. At the start of this year Dawson's hard work and dedication to her salon team paid off. She took on a management position within the salon. She has enjoyed learning the ins and outs of the beauty industry and continues to improve herself daily. She strives to be a positive influence to her coworkers. She also enjoys making each of her clients feel beautiful everyday. Dawson knew early on that she wanted to do hair. Dawson 'considers herself lucky to be in the company of such talented hairstylists that inspire her'. She feels so very blessed to have her coworkers, friends, family, and clients to support her in all she does.

T.J. ELIAS I believe beauty is individual. My career began as a receptionist at DolcĂŠ Salon, a beautiful, chic salon along Cherry Street in Tulsa. For more than five years it has been directly focused on women. I have had the privilege of working along side my dear friend, Carmen Marc Valvo, the Saks Fifth Avenue team and wonderful charities such as Tulsa Project Women for multiple years. I moved to Oklahoma City in February of 2012 and continued my passion at Trichology Salon. From the start of my move I was able to have my hands in amazing photo shoots and charitable events. I am constantly educating my clients on styling their hair so they can get the Victoria Secret, bouncy hair at home. With the right product I know the client can do so. Whether it be a blow out or an easyto-manage precision haircut for the everyday woman. It may be installing extensions on the uptown girl who wants to look flawless with the ability to maintain her look, I love to have my hands throughout a head of hair. I constantly strive to know the latest in color, from the richest and deepest of brunettes and reds to the most natural, vibrant blondes. I have a passion for my career that I believe is only instilled in those that walk, sleep, and wake up thinking about hair. so6ix.com | JUNE 2013
