transformed quickly into a very talented group of musicians, performing a harmonious mix of folk, rock, and pop. In the past two years, they have catapulted up the charts, and now they are on a massive tour, performing in major cities all over the country. Fortunately for us, Oklahoma City just happens to be one of those cities. The Grammy-nominated folk rock band plans to perform in Oklahoma City’s new outdoor concert venue, the Downtown Airpark on Western Avenue. The venue location will be sure to please The Lumineers fans. The new outdoor Downtown Airpark is a far cry from the ever-popular concert locale, the Chesapeake Energy Arena. It is sure to add even more to the open, folksy feel of The Lumineers, which is great, because the band is known for emphasizing a sense of solidarity against adversity and isolation during their performances. They like for their audiences to come together to enjoy the music, and that is something that can really be achieved in an outdoor venue. Oklahoma City has continually improved its downtown scene, and the fact that up-and-coming bands like The Lumineers are considering us a major stop on their busy tours just proves this. They plan to perform on October 3, so be sure to purchase your tickets so that you can enjoy this one-of-a-kind folk-rock experience.

SOCIETY come to this decision two years ago. I’ve always changed my hair color because I see hair more as an accessory to style. I brought Madi the idea, knowing that it would be difficult to get right, but I knew that she could handle the challenge. I love having pink hair, but it is a huge pain because we have to do my hair every month. If the world were out of pink, I wouldn’t be too upset. I would just go back to something more low maintenance, like blonde.

4. How would you describe your style? My style is my own and just something I do with out thinking, so it’s a little hard to put it into words. I like to think to the future and my style reflects that sensibility. 5. What are your personal goals/plans for the future? One of my personal goals is to become more of a large-scale thinker. I have a hard time finding satisfaction in small accomplishments, which can be a downfall of mine sometimes. I also plan to travel more. I think traveling is the best form of education, stimulation, and most importantly, awareness.

6. What advice would you give to someone wanting to step out in the fashion world and be different? I can’t stand the word “fashion” because to me fashion is not genuine and consistent. Style is something a person should strive to have because personal style is something he/she knows best and will feel most comfortable in. The people on the street, who have personal style, 20

It's fall! You know what this means, right? You got it. It's time for cardigans, boots, dresses, leggings, metallics, leathers, darker hair colors and my favorite–smokey eyes! This season brings an old 90s trend back for smokey eyes; it’s the full lid. Unlike past seasons that gravitated towards just the crease, smokey eyes will be much bolder this fall. There’s a new M.I.O (Made in Oklahoma) beverage in town, and it’s called Maehs Gin, pronounced [mayz]. It is distilled and infused with a light buckwheat honey that leaves drinkers with a smooth and subtly sweet aftertaste. Maehs Gin is more exceptional than other varieties following the recent trend of flavor infused liquor, however—it is a blend of new and old ideas to make the best drink possible. You’re going to want to try this new spin on gin. Maehs can be found in over 50 liquor stores around the city such as: Bottle Shop, Pancho's, 63rd Warehouse, and Edmond Wine Shoppe. Visit one of these restaurants for a speciality cocktail with Maehs Gin: Saii, Cafe 501, Bellini's, and Tapwerks.

OCTOBER 2013 BY

Dadhichi Toth

www.astrology.com.au

SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 21) You have a much better sense of yourself this month as Mercury and Venus transit your Sun sign. This is an excellent counterbalance to Saturn. This month try not to get embroiled in any political or religious discussions that may become overheated. You’d hate to lose a friend over some ideological differences.

SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 - DECEMBER 21) Venus enters the highly prized sun sign and doing this cycle you could expect your popularity to explode. You may have more interest in friends than work so find the happy balance. The eclipse influencing love affairs, children and speculation may cause you to rethink these areas of your life after the 19th.

CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 19) Particularly on the first day of the month you may be angry that you haven’t achieved your goals 48

so6ix.com | OCTOBER 2013

as quickly as you would like. Be patient as the Sun moves in the upper part of your horoscope presenting you with some sudden opportunities especially after the 2nd or 3rd. Friendships fare well between the 6th and the 10th. After the 18th you may meet someone whom you had a brief encounter with some time ago and will resurrect the friendship.

AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 - FEBRUARY 18) Prioritise or you may hit the end of the month without any tangible results in hand. Your social activities will stimulate you and in particular after the 8th when Venus comes into contact with your social zone as well as the Sun, expect a bright new cycle to occur in this area of your life. You may be planning a holiday or time away from your normal routine as the new Moon occurs in your zone of long distance journeys.

PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20) Work colleagues could simply annoy you this month so forbearance will be your key word in the first few days of the month. Difficult aspects from the Sun, and Venus also irritate you up until the 15th. A sudden meeting after the 17th could change your mood for the better but don’t be too quick to jump to conclusions. Around the 24th don’t overlook work commitments that could cause you to change plans abruptly.

S AT I R E

LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 22) You may jump to conclusions this month as you may be a little impulsive in your thought, words and actions. This will affect not only your personal friendships but in particular relationships with your siblings and all neighbours. Slow things down, don't give others a decision immediately and most of all don't superimpose your own shortcomings on those around you.

ARIES (MARCH 21 - APRIL 19) Additional work responsibilities occur after the 6th. This is counteracted by powerful transits of Mars as it enters your 11th zone of profits and life fulfilment. Extra income is likely at this time but so too are disputes with friends. Don’t share too much of your financial information with them. You may earn extra cash after the 23rd but by the same token you may spend it just as quickly.

TAURUS (APRIL 20 - MAY 20) Try not to be baited by those who want to bring you down especially in your professional affairs this month. An eclipse in your 12th zone of secrets and hidden enemies indicates that you must be particularly careful of those you divulge information to especially around the 19th. They may use your private details against you.

GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUNE 20)

You have several choices in your professional life this month and may even think of leaving what you're doing. With Moon and Mars together you can be rash so don't do things hastily. Investigate your options especially after the 10th. Sometime after the 14th a friend can suddenly inspire you with the correct course of action.

CANCER (JUNE 21 - JULY 22) On the 5th the new Moon takes place in your zone of family, domesticity and real estate. These areas of your life come into focus. With the Moon and Mars in your zone of finances however it is likely you may be at odds with the way you should either invest money or spend it on furnishings, reconstruction or modifications to the family home. More dialogue is necessary before a firm decision can be made.

LEO (JULY 23 - AUGUST 22) You are very emotionally reactive this month. You are also in a quandary because Mars and Neptune producer rather confusing effects. You may wish to act in some way but are second-guessing yourself. Remain confident and don't listen to too many other people’s opinions at this time. Something commenced on the 4th may come to full fruition after the 16th but you need to remain patient.

VIRGO (AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22) You desire to get away from everything just now but the Moon and Mars prompt you to be reactive rather than rational. Plan your holiday rather than just running away from people or circumstances which are too difficult to deal with. You don't have to deal with everyone immediately, so think about what you need to say and the sort of outcome that you hope to achieve. so6ix.com | OCTOBER 2013

LANEY SINGLETON Manager at Rococo Northpark

Laney Singleton is the manager of Rococo Northpark in Oklahoma City. Rococo Northpark, founded & owned by Bruce Rinehart, offers an extensive and diverse menu that can and will cater to any appetite. Laney has been with Rococo Northpark for almost three years now. She fell into this business from college as a side job and has thrived in it ever since. She’s always had a passion for working with people and felt working at Rococo’s has always been gratifying. There’s never a “typical” day for Laney, but it’s definitely all about the food and wine for her and making friends with all of the guests that come through the doors. She prides herself, as she should, on the impressive wine list and cocktail menu. Laney comes up with many of the drink specials that customers of Rococo have grown to know and love. When asked what her future plans and goals were, she pointed over to Bruce and said “sticking with this guy” as they both smiled. They’re a power team that continues to make phenomenal things happen over at Rococo Northpark. An Edmond Native, Laney adores her family, especially her older brother John. She attended North Eastern State University to play soccer. Born and raised in the soccer world, it is still definitely a passion and hobby of hers outside of work. In addition, Laney is slightly musically inclined she explained. She is able to play a few instruments, including the guitar. If you opened her iTunes right now, you’d hear probably some Florence and the Machine playing. We couldn’t leave without knowing her personal favorite dish at Rococo since she has such a huge influence in the restaurant. Laney loves the visually stunning Hawaiian Poke which is layers of thinly sliced tuna, seaweed salad, pineapple, roasted red peppers, Asian glaze, and green onions. 60

KYLE WOLFE Manager at 1492

Kyle Wolfe is the general manager and operations director of 1492 New World Latin Cuisine, a locally owned restaurant in the Midtown district of Oklahoma City. Kyle grew up in Moore and started his first job at sixteen for a local, family owned restaurant near his home. His first position had him doing anything from cooking and dishwashing to bussing tables. After high school, he moved to serving, training and bartending at Olive Garden while taking college classes when he realized that the food and beverage industry was where he wanted to be. While looking for a permanent career position to get his foot in the door, the opportunity came along to help start 1492 from the ground up in 2007. He jumped at the chance to be a part of what he knew was sure to be a success in the OKC area. Starting out as a bar manager, Kyle worked to develop wine and drink lists for the newly opening restaurant and over the years graduated to managing all facets of the location. Currently, most of his time is spent working to open 1492’s second location at Cassady Square in The Village, which has plans to be up and running by the end of 2013. His favorite part of his job, other than being surrounded by good food and wine, is meeting and interacting with many people in different walks of life in the community. He loves helping facilitate great memories through the restaurant whether it be just a normal lunch with coworkers, old friends getting together to reunite, or wedding rehearsals that will be remembered for a lifetime. Kyle loves the Moore community and is proud to still call the area his home, where he lives with his wife, Melissa, and their two dogs, Bailey & Chloe. He is a member at the Moore Golf & Athletic Club and when he gets time away from the restaurants he can usually be found on the golf course. so6ix.com | OCTOBER 2013
